Do anyone know if this what i have and how long befor i'm normal again, i have to get another gi done in two weeks where he wants to go into my small bowel now also and biospy.

Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is a rare disease in which the lining of the stomach, small intestines and large intestines become infiltrated with Eosinophilis, a type of white blood cell.

Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis can spread to other organs. It mostly affects children and young adults. It is also referred to as EG.

The most common symptoms of esoinophilic gastroenteritis are, abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and bloody diarrhea. The exact cause of esoinophilic gastroenteritis is unknown. Approximately one half of EG patients have multiple food allergies and/or elevated immunoglobulin, suggesting an allergic etiology.

Esoinophilic gastroenteritis can be treated. Corticosteriod medications are usually successful in treating eosinophilic gastroenteritis.

To diagnose your doctor will take a biopsy of the tissue in your stomach, small intestines and large intestines to see if you have eosinophilic gastroenteritis.

Carafate is given to you to help any ulcers in your stomach and duodenum heal. Make sure you do NOT use ibuprofen, advil or naproxen medicines, as they will really hurt your stomach. It may take up to 8 weeks to heal your stomach completely, and after that you still may need to take a daily medication all the time.

Carafate may react with other drugs taken at the same time, preventing their full absorption. It is best to take other drugs 2 hours before or after sucralfate to avoid drug interactions.

Antacids can be used with this medicine, but they should be taken at least 30 minutes before or after sucralfate.

Is IB800 ibuprofen? STOP TAKING THAT. I have IBS and that is horrible for it! No ibuprofen, advil, naprosen or naproxen sodium. Tylenol only, or ask your doctor for a stronger pain killer.

Talk to your doctor if you are very worried. He is doing all the tests he can to narrower the diagnoses down. Trust me, I know its frustrating. The most important thing is while he is doing this is pain maintence and getting you eating again.  (+ info)

My son recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. What does it mean when he says his stomach feels bubbly?

He is not in a lot of pain on the 10 scale, like a 2. Just wondering what it means or what he is trying to describe when he walks around holding his stomach and says "bubbly." I have never heard this expression to describe a stomach ache. I do not have Crohn's and all of this is new to me. Should I be concerned or is this one of the norms for Crohn's patients?
----------

i myself am a teen with crohn's. my best guess would be that his stomach is very active and kind of gurgully, almost like when you get hungry. It could also be gas. This is fairly normal and it doesnt nessasarily mean an outbreak. However if he is in the bathroom in excess of 2 or three times a day then you should be worried  (+ info)

How long will it take to heal a gastritis diseases. Will Ranitidine 150 mg works?

My son had been suffering from stomach disorders and bloatedness since 2002. Please help me.
----------

it depends on what kind of gastritis disease he has. the idea with ranitidine is to lower the production of stomach acid so that your own body can heal itself naturally. there are no drugs out there that will actually heal the problem itself.

in general, if the disease hasnt cleared up, the dr. may put your son on another class of drugs that actually work better to reduce stomach acid. the problem with gastritis disease is that they can cause ulceration and infections if not treated  (+ info)

How come Doctor's don't come down with all the diseases that they treat?

How do they keep from getting, say- the stomach flu?
Do they have a secret medicine that protects them?
----------

I used to work in ER registration and was exposed to everything. My only answer was maybe we built up an immunity to some diseases, or we just were to work conscious to get sick. The doctors do get sick, but they also have quicker access to treatment than the average person does. And they also have samples of the latest, most effective meds given out by medical sales people.  (+ info)

What can help my upset stomach caused by my meds?

I suffer from depression and anxiety and I have tried 6 different medicines to deal with it...most of them cause me to have a horribly upset stomach to the point where I feel so nauseous that I have a hard time functioning during the day. I always feel like I'm going to throw up or pass out, etc. My doctors know about this but they can't seem to find a med that will agree with my stomach (I had a disease that was treated but it made my stomach very acidy and messed up, so even foods can upset me easily). Are there any foods, additional pills/vitamins, etc. that will help? I just started a new med this week and I've been on a steady diet of toast, saltine crackers, water and ginger ale for 3 days :( OR, does anyone know of a med that doesn't upset your stomach AND doesn't cost a ton? (my insurance doesn't cover prescriptions, so thats another issue) Thanks.
By the way, I'm on prescription strength Prilosec as well for the stomach issues

I was having a similar problem and got that liquid yogurt stuff, its pretty good too, i drink it now with my meds and it really helps me, good luck!  (+ info)

Could a hard stomach be a sign of illness?

My mother, who is 73, has a stomach that feels hard to the touch. Could this be a sign of liver disease or other ailment?
----------

Why not take her to see a doctor. Ask her how she has been feeling to get an idea of what to tell doctor. Many things can cause this from simple to complicated. Don't guess, let doctor examine her. Good Luck!  (+ info)

What is the medical term for when a stomach turns upside down from vomiting/need surgery?

My dad (80) just called to say he had been in the hospital by way of ambulance because of stomach pain and vomiting blood. The Drs. told him he needed surgery because his stomach had turned upside down and he would die. He went home! Said he had to get his papers in order. Told me he is gonna die. It is very hard to talk to him because aging makes it so. I am trying to find "what he has" on web MD but, I don't know the term for his condition or disease. I can't call him back because someone was at the door so he hung up. I want to find out more info before I call him back later so, I will know what to say/do about all this. Does anybody have a clue as to what I am talking about? Thank You. P.S. He lives 1,500 miles away.
