doctors help please??

will a spermatocele stop me from getting in the army
----------

Yes, As it will be aggravated by heavy lifting. Even just flat foot and a scoliosis are already disqualifications. but it wouldn't hurt to try. Maybe the doctor might not do a thorough exam and won't be able to palpate it. Don't tell him. Once in the military, you can get good health care for it.  (+ info)

Testicle question, cancer? Give me all your help, please!?

Okay here is the story. I have already been to my GP and have a urologist apt. tomorrow.

Here is my situation. I have a pretty hard, painless lump located at the very top of my testicle, just next to the epididymis. It's about the size of a pea and I am 99.9% sure it is connected to my actual testicle. It does not move at all.

Now, my GP said he is 90% it's a cyst, but sent me for an ultra sound just incase.

I feel like i'm 90% sure its cancer. This is because all the cysts i read about (spermatocele, epididymal, etc) say that should NOT feel connected to my actual testicle, and should move a little. ONE site I found that seemed pretty reliable said that spermatocele can be attaced.

However, I also ready that if it's cancer almost all of the time you find the lump on the side and sometime the front of the testicle.

To me this sounds like cancer all the way. hard pea sized painless lump coming from the actual testicle. Only thing is it's in the right place for a cyst.

One thing i feel like it could MAYBE be is i'm feeling my appendix of the testis, which from what I read, is in that exact location, but I'm not sure if it would show up as a lump like that.

I've looked up EVERYTHING on the internet. I dont think there is anything else I can look up.

So can ANYONE please say what you think it might be based on some experience?? Have you had something like this, what was it??

any info would be great!
----------

I think you are reading far too much into this just because you are anxious. Now I may be wrong, but your doctor probably has more experience palpating various testicles than you do - so I would put more weight on that than how it feels to you and what you read on the Internet.

You should know testicular cancer is not very common it accounts for about 1% of all cancers that occur in men. Also the most common type of testicular cancer at the worst stage has a 5-year survival rate of 80-90% and the second most common at the worst stage is 70-80%.

I know that may not be too comforting, but I hope it helps a little.  (+ info)

Swelling in the epidydimus and pain in the scrotum. Need reassurence it isn't testicular cancer.?

Today I had sexual intercourse and afterwards my left testicle felt painful or stressed. Which is common in men and is known as blue balls. Yet afterwards after the pain went away there was a swelling on my epidydimus that felt like a bulge of mass, but that mass was not connected to the testicle and i could move it around while the testicle was stationary. I just want know if this is probably an epidydimal cyst, spermatocele, or can testicular cancer be behind the testicle and on the epidydimus? I am 18 years old and already made an appointment to see my doctor this tuesday, but this has me worried and i just need some advice. Also if it is a cyst or epydidimitis will it be permanent? Thank you to everyone who answers in advance.
----------

From a statistical standpoint, it's probably epidydimitis. It's fairly common and easily treated by your doc. That's the good news. The bad news is that if you get epidydimitis once, you are probably going to get it again.

Go to your doc to get checked out, of course.  (+ info)

Mysterious Epidydimal Pain?

About almost two weeks ago I manipulated a spermatocele in my scrotum above the right testicle, then it began to hurt. Days passed, and the pain began to be much worse in the epidydimus of the left testicle as the right one got better. I got tons of referred pain in my groin and up to the inguinal canal. For two hours one night, the area behind my left testicle was in excruciating pain. A few days ago I got an ultrasound which proved negative for torsion, cancer, and infection.

As the pain got better I noticed that whenever I simply touch the head of my left epididymus, the pain comes back for hours on end. If I don't touch it, at the moment there is no pain but this has me worried that this area will always hurt. As well, after masturbation, something around the head of the epididymus of my left testicle seems to stick out a little bit. I thought it could be a varicocele, but those didn't show up on the ultrasound.

The cyst on my right epididymus still hurts if I touch it. But pretty much I'm pain free as long as I keep my hands off the area for the moment. But I never used to have this problem, so I know this isn't normal for me. I'm 24 years old, and I have had scrotal pain in the past (once before, two months ago), and the ER urologist said it's "blue balls".

I am at a loss as to what is my problem and why the area is so ridiculously tender. This problem is causing me a lot of stress and I need some medical insight if anyone has any please.
----------

Not sure. Testicular injuries usually cause referred pain in most cases, so that isn't really pertinent. I would get a second ultrasound done if I were you. Schedule an appt with a urologist's office, preferably for your situation an office that has ultrasound capabilities.

The ER is a good idea, but they're not really proficient in urology. Also, ER's don't usually have a urologist on staff, or rarely on call, at least not that I've seen. You sure it was a urologist, not the regular emergency dept physician? Like I said, go to a urologist's office. They see this stuff daily, and you might want another ultrasound. I know I would.  (+ info)

Scrotum lump?

Hi there. I've had a lump in my scrotum for several months now it began as just a small lump a little larger than a grain of rice and i thought nothing of it, it was very hard and painless. But within the last 3 days its increased to the size of like a 5 pence piece all round and is very sore and quite painful if you touch it, trouble is the lump is located between my scrotum and my leg so when i sit down it can hurt. It's not attached to my testicle and is no-where near them its right to the left top side of my scrotum and inside.

This is really starting to worry me as its increased in size quite rapidly! :<.

Some info: I haven't been sexually active and I'm 19 years of age.

And yes i know you're going to say go to the doctors and i think i will but please can i have some suggestions to what it might be i thought maybe Spermatocele.
I don't want my scrotum cut open!! :O

Still Swollen... Please help!!!?

Ok I had a Spermatocele removed and my right testi is 3 times larger then normal. The left is now fine. Is this normal? It was 5 days ago. Ive been applying ice packs and also taking my pills as directed.

Sounds like you might have an infection or your doctor may not have done the job properly. You should contact the doctor immediately. You want to protect those things at all costs. Ouch. Good luck.  (+ info)

Mononucleosis - Is This Possible?

I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder last year in April. I got extremely tired after my first panic attack, and felt depressed. I also got bad pains behind my eyes, like severe eyestrain, and the fatigue lasted a long time. I never had any tests done to check for Mono, it wasn't even brought up.

I was put on Paxil, and have been tapering off of it for a while now (down to 10mg every 3 days). The thing is, I have been tired for SO SO LONG.

Now I notice my lymph node under my chin on the right is swollen and hurting really bad. It had been swollen for a few months and I never thought much of it. Again, always tired and no sleep seems to be enough.

Is it possible that I have Mono? Can it last that long in the body without extreme manifestations? Also, if it IS mono, can having it for this long cause any serious permanent damage?

I just started taking Doxycycline since I MAY have Epididymitis and a Spermatocele. Could this cause the painful lymph node? They have been enlarged for a while as I said above, but haven't ever hurt this much.

I'm a hypochondriac, so I always worry I have the worst things. If anyone can reassure me and also answer my other questions, that would be great.

Thanks.
Hmm I looked up Hypothyroidism.. I have gained over 50-70 pounds but I thought it was just due to the Paxil. A lot of the symptoms fit me. I can't remember but I think I may have had a test for it a while ago. Again, not sure. Is it possible that the test results were a false negative?
----------

The epididymitis or spermatocele is enough to cause the lymph nodes to be swollen. Mono usually presents with a sore throat, VERY swollen and tender lymph nodes and extreme tirednes and anorexia. Doubt you have it  (+ info)

Whats The Best Way/s To Prepair For Surgey?

Ok, so i have this thingy called a spermatocele on my right testicle which is a basiclly a cyst i have had for a WHILE. Anyways, im getting surgery on the 12th of July to get it removed because its been hurting and bothering me for years. They tell me the surgery is very minor. I dnt think im alone here when i say any surgery "down there" doesnt seem very minor at all! I get freaked out just thinking about them cutting open my sack yo. =( Are their any good ways to calm me down for it. (keep in mind i have MAD anxiety problems so just being AT the hospital will freak me out!!!) Ive heard of people getting crap like valium or ativan before the surgery to ease things up so is it possible for me to get that type of medication before the surgery or do I just have to suck it up and deal with it? Any Ideas?

Guys, have any of you had these? Please let me know!?

I recently found a lump on my testicle. I went for an ultrasound and it turned out I have two Spermatoceles and a Hydrocele. All very small. One is so small I can find it. The other spermatocele is about the size of a pea. And I didn't even know I had a Hydrocele but according the the ultrasound I do. I have read these are usually fine left alone, although I cant get in with my urologist for the full follow up for a few weeks.

Had anyone had these? And will the give me trouble in anyway?

Spermatocele Testicle Cyst Pain HELP?

I have had a Spermatocele Cyst for 30 years have had it checked multiple times over the years by doctors, said not cancer. Often on over the years it will become painful? Not sure what cause it to become painful? What could be causing pain other than it getting bigger? What can I do to get ride of the pain, hot bath, motrin? Can Spermatocele become infected or swollen?
----------

It is most likely getting larger and/or irritating the epididymis causing more narrowing. You should call your urologist (even if it is after hours) and get their advice. Short of that take an anti-inflammatory, make sure the scrotum is well supported and stay off your feet for awhile. A soak in the tub may make you feel better, but don’t make it too hot and that could make the inflammation worse. If the pain continues to increase you should go to the emergency room as they will give you some good pain killers and rule out a more serious condition such as torsion.  (+ info)
