Do all firefighters and all victims of fires have to be treated for smoke inhalation?

Just a curious mind.
----------

Firefighters are checked, but they don't have to be. They are trained to know if they have breathed in too much bad air, or to know if they are fine. All victims of the fire that were rescued by the firefighter are treated by the paramedics when they arrive on the scene. If you've breathed in to much, and they are worried that your aveolli [[ The insides of your lungs that actually absorb the oxygen into your body]] are really damaged, they will take you to the hospital and put you under observation, or put you on Nitric Oxide [[ Not Nitrous oxide]]  (+ info)

I breathed in a lot of smoke from burnt oil. Has anyone suffered smoke inhalation?

-repeatedly with long deep inhalations. I suffered shortness of breath, but am otherwise OK.

is this going to catch up with me, as lung cancer one day, or some other lung problems?

What do I do for smoke inhalation? I tried vicks. it works!

But i'm recovering nicely. I aint too worried, still.. it was nasty stuff.
----------

I was a volunteer fire fighter in my younger days and was exposed to smoke inhalation more than once. The usual course of treatment is oxygen and follow-up monitoring of pulmonary (lungs) function.
As far as toxicity, it depends upon what kind of oil was burning. Vegetable oil or animal fat is naturally biodegradable and does not pose as extreme a hazard as petroleum based distilled oils. The new synthetic oils are really nasty when they start burning.  (+ info)

If you smoke and you are taking narcotics for an injury?

Does the nicotine increase the amount of narcotics in your body and it's effects?
----------

no... you can't have any more of a narcotic in your body than you take... nicotine is a stimulant, but not a very strong one, it isn't going to greatly effect the metabolizing of the narcotic. Definatly not going to be the deciding factor on whether your narcotic use becomes dangerous or not. Smoking in general is bad for you, and narcotics in general are bad for you, but the two don't have any kind of interaction. What exactly are you on?  (+ info)

If you were at a party surrounded by pot smokers and ended breathing in alot of the second hand smoke from it, and for 2 days after that went to 2 other parties where you drank alot of beer but no pot was present, then on the third day drank alot of gatorade, and then took a drug test on day 4, how likely is it that your drug test will come up positive for drugs?
