Is it normal to love looking at shock sites?

My friends always look at the most disturbing shock sites such as 1 man 1 jar and 1 man 1 stump (i must admit i have taken part in the viewing and can't say i didn't have a few chuckles) and i was just wondering, is this normal behaviour for teenage guys to be doing?
----------

for the most part teenage guys...like the gross, weird..bizzare, but be careful with some shock sites...alot of those type of sites contain computer viruses  (+ info)

Would a doctor be able to tell by blood tests if I had Toxic Shock Syndrome?

What if the doctor is not suspecting Toxic Shock Syndrome? Would he or she still be able to tell by your blood if you have it or not?

Thanks in advance.
----------

TSS isn't caused directly by a bacteria- it's caused by a toxin made by a bacteria. So a test looking for bacteria would turn up negative since so few bacteria are required to make enough toxin to make you sick. It is possible to test for the presence of the toxin, but I don't know how often that's actually done b/c they probably know it's TSS if you have the right clinical presentation (signs and symptoms)  (+ info)

must you have a fever to have toxic shock syndrome?

I have nausea, dizziness, and a rash that looks like sunburn, but no fever. Could this be toxic shock syndrome without fever?
----------

It sure can. See your doctor.  (+ info)

Is it correct that they don't use shock wave to treat your kidney stones if you have a UTI?

I read that they don't do eswl to treat kidney stones if you have a UTI. If they don't use shock wave then what is it that they do to treat kidney stones?
----------

I've suffered from kidney stones for 6-7 years. Usually the Dr. will prescribe pain pills and let the stones pass on their own. It wasn't until I had one that was too large to pass that I ran into problems. I didn't have insurance, so no one would help me. Different from your situation, but I'm getting to the point, I swear.

After some research I found out that hydrangia root will help break up already existing stones, rosemary will help stones to pass more quickly, and wild yam root will help decrease spasms caused by moving kidney stones.

I went to a vitamin store and found an herbal supplement called Kidney Factors; It's the only way I was able to find the hydrangia root, and it really seemed to help. Wild yam comes in it's own bottle, and I just picked up some dried rosemary in a small packet. I chew up 5-6 pieces of rosemary when I take the other vitamins.

It takes a little longer to get rid of stones this way, but if you keep up with this therapy each day, you're less likely to suffer from them in the future. Also, my Dr. told me to stay away from caffiene and dairy to stop the stones from forming, but it didn't help. I kept getting them.

Found out through my research into herbal books that they are also caused by dark green, leafy veggies, aka spinach, greens, brussel sprouts, etc. So if you find that you're doing everthing the doc told you and this is still a problem, you may think about knocking greens out of your diet all together. I did and haven't had a problem since...knock on serious wood!  (+ info)

Is there a home remedy to help ease anaphylactic shock?

The other night I suffered from a severe allergic reaction to something I had eaten. I took a benadryl but it didnt help much. Is there anything a household would have that would help ease the symptoms of anaphylactic shock?
----------

Other than Benadryl I do not know of anything. You probably would have to take at least 4 Benadryl to see any help. Usually in ER it is given via a shot in very high doses. Sometimes steroids are given too. You must get an Epi-Pen via an Rx from your doctor to have on hand for any future problems.  (+ info)

Is anaphylactic shock common with taking antibiotics?

My son is on Doxycyline for an ear infection. They are 100mg pills. He has taken 1 of them already. If anaphylactic shock was a risk would it of already happened after taking the fist pill?
----------

anaphylactic shock happens pretty quickly.

he could get an allergic reaction, but if he's fine since taking the medication awhile ago it wouldnt be anaphylactic.

he could get a delayed reaction that is allergic, but if he has no history of that, I would just monitor the situation.
Do you have a reason to be concerned (other than being a mom that is). If he's had reactions before, that is a different situation. I would watch for rash on arms, inside of elbows, behind ears. I would watch for facial swelling, trouble breathing etc. but if he's never had problems before,he most likely wil be fine....but i do understand. it's good to be careful, but don't let it consume you.  (+ info)

Hos long during fasting does it take your body to go into shock?

Ive heard that after a period of not eating that your body goes into shock an everything you eat turns into fat, how long until that happens? Does eating very small amounts a day also constitute as fasting?
----------

Fasting, unsupervised by a medical professional for extended periods of time causes your metabolic rate to decrease as your body thinks it is starving and hangs on to its fat for self preservation. For energy it burns muscle and actually starts cannibalizing itself, then when you start eating again it stores more fat cells in case this situation happens again (human bodies don't want to starve) Anything less than 1000 calories a day defeats the purpose of dieting to lose weight, as metabolic rate slows down etc. One can have a healthy fast for a short period, if its supervised by someone who knows professionally what they are doing. There have been cases of people dying because they went on a fast with no idea of how to do it properly.Get professional advice, don't fast for more than a day or two, sip juices or broths regularly and think of them as cleansing your body rather than to lose weight.  (+ info)

30 weeks pregnant and Im getting shock feeelings in my hands?

Im 30 weeks pregnant and my hands and feet are swollen, My hands burn and tingle. Also when I go to grab something I get a shock feeling.
What can this be?
----------

Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome...I've had it with all of my pregnancies, and as a matter of fact, I'm 30 weeks preggo and have it right now too. There is not much your doctor can do. There are carpal tunnel braces that you can purchase at your local drug store that help lessen the symptoms. Best of luck, it should decrease and subside once baby is born.  (+ info)

I'm 5'6" and 132 pounds. I want to go down to 127.

I feel like I can't lose anymore wight without drastic measure..I'm at a healthy weight and to lose more I have to put my body into shock.
Any ideas?
----------

Your body wants to be at your current weight, which is healthy. Why not be happy with that? If you are fit and healthy, you are fine. Don't try to do something that you really don't need to do.  (+ info)
