What should a physician do to treat insulin shock?

A. Decrease the insulin level in the blood.
B. Trigger a suppression of glycogen production.

C. Increase the glucose level in the blood.

D. Reduce the patient's water intake while triggering an increase in glycogen.

I think is A
cause what causes insulin shock is caused by an overdose of insulin

C. How are you going to get insulin out of the blood without doing some sort of dialysis? It is way faster and easier solution to give them some sugar...  (+ info)

What is going on when you get an electric shock sensation in the brain?

All of the sudden I feel like I loose balance, blurry vision and this electric shock sensation that hits me in the head. These episodes last about 60 seconds. Anybody is familiar with these symptoms.?
----------

Have you recently stopped taking an antidepressant? These "brain zaps" can occur after discontinuing, or lowering the dosage of, certain antidepressants such as SSRIs. I couldn't find any other conditions that may cause these. It's possible it could also be some type of seizure. I would definitely see a doctor about this.  (+ info)

What do you do if someone fractures their head to the point of bleeding, then goes into shock?

Common first aid suggests elevating the legs if someone goes into shock, to cause blood to go to their head. However, if someone injures their head to the point of bleeding, you're supposed to elevate the head to flow blood away from it, thus slowing the bleeding. If both scenarios occur, a controversial situation occurs. What should be done?

How to clean a Shock Doctor Gel Max mouth guard?

I have a Shock Doctor Gel Max with Lip Guard. It's a very nice mouth guard and I want to keep it in the best shape possible. I want to keep it clean, but I don't know the best way to do that. I'm afraid if I try to clean it, I will mess up the gel. And should I get a case to help keep it clean? Will the lip guard portion fit inside of a case, since it doesn't come off?

Why do I feel a shock in my shoulder and my heart?

Often, I get this pain in my shoulder, like one big shock. When it happens, my shoulder instantly snaps back, and it hurts.

And sometimes my heart feels as if someone's hand is clenching it very tight. Also hurts.

Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks for your help.

It sounds like a problem I treat a lot in my office, costalchondritis with associated myofascitis and joint dysfunction of the thoracic spine. Essentially, you have a vertebra problem in the back, it causes muscle spasms in the mid back, the vertebra effects the ribs, causing the chest pain. Fairly easy to treat if you know what you are doing  (+ info)

Sensation similar to an electric shock when falling asleep?

Periodically (perhaps twice or three times a year) I will experience a bizarre phenomenon while falling asleep. It feels almost as if an electric shock is coursing through my body, accompanied with an audible static sound and a visual flash. It never lasts longer than a second, and is not accompanied by any physical movement or jerk on my part. But it's extremely annoying, as this will continue for several hours until I get sick of it and pop some diphenhydramine.

I've heard it described as a hypnogogic jerk, but after reading about that I've concluded that's not what I'm experiencing. There are no muscle movements associated with this. It's a tactile/optical/aural effect. There are no olfactory or gustatory sensations.

Any explanations as to what this is or how to combat it next time it occurs?
Additional information inspired by reading some of the answers thus far:

I've never experienced a siezure in my life, although my uncle did have one once when he was like 8.

I do have a very strong history of sleep paralysis.

For paranormal consideration, during one episode of sleep paralysis I apparently left my body and moved objects in another room without being physically present. (I know many of you won't believe that, but the simple truth is it happened. For details, check my profile and previous questions.)
----------

That's exactly what happens to me sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep. If it doesn't wake me completely, then my body will go to sleep (become paralyzed), but my mind will remain alert. IE; Sleep paralysis. I think it is a hypnagogic jerk as you first said. They're not always accompanied by an actual jerk but it's called the same thing anyway.  (+ info)

I have a precore step machine, can I use vasoline to lubricate the shock absorbers or must I use grease?

I have a precore 730e step machine. I need to lubricate the shock absorber mechanism, instruction booklet says use grease- can I use vasoline?
----------

Vasoline is not grease. When it warms up it will thin out and not do what you're wanting it to do. Just buy real grease. It's pretty cheap.  (+ info)

Why should you not give a hot water bottle to a person in shock?

I read that if someone is in shock, you shouldn't give then a hot water bottle.
Why is this?
----------

because it keeps their body warm, and you want the person to wake up from the shock and not go into deeper shock.  (+ info)
