Need to make restaurant style steak/prime rib dipping sauce.?

Hey cooking fans, I just discovered the joys of cooking quality Rib Eye steak at home. After reading Yahoo's answers posts and buying a very nicely marbled $8 a pound rib eye steak and cooking accordingly; Thought I was at a restaurant ready to fork over $23.50 for this Yum-O prime rib type meal.
It was missing ONE thing, that really tasty very sweet spicy thin sauce that is served along side the Horseradish sauce. (No not Yoshida's Teryaki sauce)
It's served with steaks of many variety and the prime rib as well. It doesn't appear to be exclusive to any one restaurant as I have had similar at several steak houses. Sauce is not thick or tomato-ee like A-1 and generally served hot with the meal. Almost like Au Jus, though not as salty and very sweet.
Anybody know what it is and how to make it/where to buy it?
Thanks in advance.

You could try this:

Au Jus Recipe - I created this easy Au Jus recipe because I wanted a delicious quick dipping sauce

1 (10-1/2 ounce) can French Onion soup
1 (10-1/2 ounce) can Beef Broth
1 can cold water
1/2 teaspoon turbinado sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp maple syrup OR honey
1/8 teaspoon salt

Combine ingredients in a saucepan, bring just to a boil, strain, discard onions and serve hot for dipping. Make 2 days ahead, cover and refrigerate.
Makes 3-1/2 cups

You can add in more honey/syrup if you want it sweeter. :)  (+ info)

Teriyaki beef in a crock pot?

I want to put a roast (rump or something similar) into a crock pot and pour over a bottle of Mr. Yoshida's teriyaki sauce and enough water to cover it. What temp should I put my crock pot at and cook for how long? Should I sear it on the stove first? Any suggestions?
----------

Yes I would sear it in a skillet before putting it in the crock, it will help seal in some flavor. I'd cook it on low for 6-8 hours, depending on the weight, longer for a bigger roast. You can also throw some chopped onions and garlic into the crock pot.  (+ info)

World Record for non-stop pushups is 10,508. How do you do that much without stopping?!?

The World Record for non-stop pushups is 10,508 by Minoru Yoshida of Japan on October, 1980.

It seems unbelievable! O_O

Tons of training I'd assume. Also, perhaps he just had the book "The Little Engine That Could" infront of him the whole time?  (+ info)

Where can I get my hands on an old-style book strap?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a real, honest-to-goodness book strap to carry books with. You use them to bind together all your books, so they're kept in one block and are easier to hand carry ('cause they're not moving around and slipping). They used to be real popular for school kids, especially older ones like in their teens, but that was way back--I had one that was my mom's from like the 70s or early 80s, but it was rubber, gone brittle with age, and once I stretched it too much over a bunch of stuff and it broke :-(

So I'm looking for one of these again, because they rock! Only thing is, I'm in europe, so the online store has to deliver to Europe for a reasonable price if it's in the states or Japan or somewhere--something tells me the Japanese may still be making/using those, especially since I have found this:
http://acontinuouslean.com/2008/10/27/porter-x-b-yoshida-book-strap/
which is also a good example of what I'm looking for! But similar solutions would be fine too :-)

What is some good music for a sushi event?

A friend of mine is having a sort of "sushi night" at my house
I want some music to create the perfect atmosphere to go with the event, I'm thinking oriental chill-out with a predominantly japanese flavour (entirely japanese if I can manage that), traditional japanese would be great too (more for me actually).

The most I need should be fairly relaxing for the majority of the event, especially during eating
but something a bit more upbeat should have a place there too I think, electronic is fine.

If u want to know what's going through my head? "Fukaki Umi No Kanata" by Yoshida brothers is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for

Problem is I'm almost completely ignorant with this sort of music, so please make any recommendations of artists u think I should try out, the more the merrier (this event is going to last for a long time probably, maybe into next morning) and If u can point to specific torrents or forums or other places to search that would be BRILLIANT

Thanks ALOT in advance
PS since u know japanese music maybe u can point me to some taiko aswell? I love that stuff
----------

Damn! I want to come! You ought to look Japanese music up on YouTube and see what you like. What I'll listen to and what you will listen to could be two completely different things. I can't afford sushi now so eat a lot of sushi for me.  (+ info)

Am I eating too little or counting wrong?

Yesterday I decided to count calories, and maybe I'm counting wrong but my total was about 660 calories!
Here is what I ate
Breakfest: 2 poached egg whites on 1 peice of whole wheat toast
Snack: apple
Lunch: caesar salad (well basically lettuce and parmesan cheese because I don't like dressing)
Snack: 2 peel oranges
Dinner: peas, about half a chicken breast cooked with yoshida sauce, whole grain rice

It seems like enough...I was full! I'm 16, female, and I have a healthy BMI (although I am on the high side of the range)

During this day I played a tennis match and then came home and did 20 easy minutes on the elliptical and stretched
oh i forgot I also had carrot sticks before my match!
----------

I wish i knew.
That's about the same amount as i eat. Apart from im still hungry

Sorry im no help, i just wanna read your answers. = )  (+ info)
