I have a bad chronic allergic rhinitis, permanent blocked nose, can't sleep at night, doctors are not helping

I'm desperate to get some sleep, but my nose is always blocked...I don't know what to do...I am allergic to dustmites but even if I am keeping the house dust free there is no improvement in my nose...Flixonase doesn't help anymore...Doctors are not helping at all.Can anyone suggest anything?
----------

Do you have covers on your pillows and mattress? I bought the kind that keeps the dust mites from getting through the area you sleep. That has helped me a lot. I also use a waterless vaporizer and use a saline rinse before bedtime.

Edit - I added some links.  (+ info)

How do smoke trigger my allergic rhinitis?

I'm referring to second hand smoke from smokers and any other kind of smokes. (FYI, I'm not a smoker).
----------

I don't know exactly what in smoke triggers it but smoke does trigger respiratory problems.

It's probably one of these:

The smoke itself
The numerous mix of chemicals it's burning off into the air from the cigarette.  (+ info)

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have had allergic rhinitis for the last few years - can I still use Flixonaise nasal?

spray? I quit using that when I found out I was expecting but wondered whether it was acutlaly ok to use?
----------

You must speak with your Doctor about your condition and medication.
If it has steroids they may take you off it and give you an alternative.
But do not depend on public opinion , this is to important. You can also call your pharmacist and simply ask the same question, or go on line and look up the medication, you will be able to find further information, each medication gives pregnancy warnings. In fact if you have the box it comes in, it may have the paper that will tell you strait from the manufacturer.

Which is the best antihistamine for life long continious use for allergic rhinitis?

The best antihistamine to use is so much dependent on the individual. What might work for one person will not work for another, and therefore a trial by error must be carried out. I would try the cheapest OTC remedy and then go to the more expensive ones if the cheap ones do not work.

For allergic rhinitis steroid nasal sprays tend to work better, such a beclomethasone.  (+ info)

how can i dignose allergic, perennial rhinits in infants, young children and what is the management?

please, in some details.
----------

You cannot...unless you have a M.D., D.O. or R.N. after your name. Especially with children, take them to the pediatrician or your healthcare provider of choice if you suspect something is not up to par with their health.

Being uninformed and mis-managing a condition can be more harmful than just living it alone...either way...seek a professional when a diagnosis is in order.  (+ info)

Herbal Supplements for Allergic Rhinitis?

I just found out I have allergic rhinitis. What are some herbal supplements or foods I can take to cure/improve my condition?
(I'm a vegetarian)
----------

I have Allergic Rhinitis myself, and haven't really found much 'cure' through herbal supplements. However, I have found that Ginseng had helped in terms of improving the body vitality = giving more resistence to dust agitation.

Aloe vera helps a lot in the process. Almonds (pounded/grinded) with milk helps too.  (+ info)
