every once in a while i get this big pimple thing on my face. i have proactive and i use it all the time but the pimple still doesnt go away. so i was looking on the internet and found out that they are called "nodules" or "cysts". i think i hav the "nodule" for about a week and a half and i'm ready for it to be gone now. what should i do to get rid of it?
----------

See your doctor, it may be cancerous.  (+ info)

Told breast ultrasound showed nodule yet doc called it a cyst. Can breast cysts not have fluid?

I asked about the color of the fluid and he said there wasn't any fluid. When he went back in the second time, he went through the cyst he said exploded and collected material through and beyond that. Minute fragments of fibroadipose tissue were made into a cell block. Would that have been more likely to have come from a nodule?
----------

A cyst can be a solid material also. I usually trust what the dr says.  (+ info)

Should I have my right side of my thyroid removed due to a bothersome nodule?

I have a 1cm thyroid nodule on the right side of my thyroid. The doctor says it is probably not cancerous. But it does bother me. I have pressure in my neck all the time that is bothersome. It also effects swallowing meats and large vitamins. Should I have it removed? What is the surgery like? Will I have to stay in the hospital?
----------

check into radiation therapy as well. My doc highly recommended it instead of the surgery. I had a goiter that went almost all the way around my neck. Radiation therapy is easy you take a couple of pills and your thyroid no longer works. If you do it though you will take a pill for the rest of your life in place of your thyroid. I'm not sure if the treatment will help your situation or not. Ask your Dr about it to be sure.  (+ info)

Should a 30 yr male old worry about a subcentimeter lung nodule on the lower left side?

The lung nodule was found accidentally during a CT scan of my chest. I was told not to worry because of my age and the area the nodule is located, but I'm still worried. Can anyone with knowledge on the subject help please?
----------

"Nodules" in the Lungs are common. While I understand it can be daunting to hear that you have something growing in your lung, they are quite common. I normally see SPNs at around 2-4 CM and considering yours was sub centimeter, I really wouldnt loose sleep over it.

And you are thirty. I would find it hard to get a thirty year old who did not have an SPN.

You can compare it to a polyp in your colon, lots of people have them ,and as long as they are small (and your SPN is tiny) you should be ok.

If it really bugs you, got back to the physician who did the CT of your chest in 7 months and ask for another. Then you can compare for changes. Or get a Biopsy if it makes you at ease of mind. But honestly, you are ok.  (+ info)

I have a nodule on my little finger that when squeezed thick clear stuff comes out of it. What is this?

My doctor says this is the beginning of arthritis. My finger does hurt sometimes because I type a lot. The finger is a little bit bigger than the one on the other hand. This nodule has been there for quite sometime and I would like to get rid of it!
----------

It may possibly be a cyst. Talk to your Dr about getting rid of it.  (+ info)

What kind of risk am I taking by not having a thyroid lobectomy to diagnose a nodule?

I have a solitary large thyroid nodule in my left thyroid. It measures 4cmx3cmx2cm, roughly, and takes up almost the entire lobe. I have had an ultrasound which reveals that it is homogenous, and vascular, but not much else. I have also had an FNA, which was non-diagnostic. The next step is a lobectomy to check for cancer. I am a singer and do not want to risk damage to the nerves of my vocal chords just on the chance that it may be cancer if it is an unnecessary risk. My doctor said his father was a tenor, and he had his thyroid removed. He said he never really sang the same after. If I went through with it, couldn't sing the same, and it was benign, it would kill me. I would sure appreciate some advice from those who have either undergone the procedure or know enough about it to give me an opinion. Thank you.
----------

I had my entire thyroid removed, my nodule was only 1.4cm. If the FNA was inconclusive, and a lobectomy is considered then tell the surgeon if he finds thyroid cancer to remove the entire thyroid. If he does not and you have a reoccurance then they will want to go back in and remove the rest.
My voice was odd for a few weeks but I forced my self to sing anyhow.

What does rheumatic fever feel like?

I have a child who is recovering from having a high fever for many days, scarlatina and strep. My child is older, but not able to verbally explain all her symptoms well. If rheumatic fever is a possible symptom of scarlet fever/strep, etc...would a person be complaining about pain in their joints at the time? Would it be very obvious that a rheumatic fever is different from a regular fever?
----------

The major symptoms include:

carditis (inflammation of the heart)
arthritis (painful joints)
chorea (nervous system tremors)
subcutaneous nodules (bumps under the skin)
rash (some get this but, not all)

The minor criteria include:

fever

joint pain (without actual arthritis)

evidence of electrical changes in the heart (determined by doing a electrocardiogram, or EKG)

evidence via a blood test of the presence of certain proteins in blood
_______________

I have read cases where a child didn't necessarily have joint pain but, it is commonly a symptom. Rheumatic fever usually affects children between the ages of 3 to 15 years of age. Because specific testing is needed to diagnose properly, you should have your child evaluated by the Pediatrician to be sure.....especially since verbalization is not possible. Simple blood tests can rule this out quickly. This can be quite serious causing possible permanent damage, immediate attention is required. Get your son tested asap. Good luck!  (+ info)

I was told I had a subcentimeter lung nodule and now my lower left lung area hurts. Is that just anxiety?

Occasionally when I'm sitting down or moving around my left lung hurts or I get a sharp pain when I take a deep breath. I think it's just from the anxiety of having been told about a lung nodule. Has anyone experienced this?
----------

Hello agian lol.

While it could be physcosymatic, you dont want to ignore pain. If you concerned, go back to your GP. I still stand by my statement in the last post that your SPN is tiny compared to most I see, but that does not mean you should ignore it.

Its your body, you should listen to it.

I wish you the best.  (+ info)

Not enough biopsy of the thryoid nodule to determine if it is benign or cancerous, doctor suggests a surgical?

suggest surgical biospy. However, the nodule is 3 cm, why not remove the nodule whether it's cancerous or not, it will only continue to grow.
----------

Sometimes that's what doctors end up doing. They will surgically remove the nodule, probably do a freeze biopsy of your other tissue to make sure it's benign, and depending on what you agree/ sign before surgery, you can immediately have a total thyroidectomy if the biopsy during surgery ends up being cancer or you'll be closed up if it's benign.

I would suggest asking what your doctor thinks, and I also suggest getting a second opinion...maybe they can accurately perform a FNA biopsy. Good luck!  (+ info)

How serious is dominant cystic nodule in thyroid?

My friend has just had an ultrasound on her thyroid which had appeared slightly swollen. The results show that she has a dominant cystic nodule and some of the fluid they drained contained colloids. They have referred her to a thoracic surgeon. Is this potentially serious, could it be cancer?
----------

Be aware that 95% nodules on thyroids are benign, however there is a chance that this could be cancer. She should attend the surgeon who will do further tests to discover whatit is. There is no point worrying till you have the full picture.
