Is it possible to have a cholecystectomy if you have a rheumatic heart disease? What are the chances?

My brother in the philippines has a rheumatic heart disease for 2 years and the doctors just found recently that he has cholecystitis, Im just worried because the doctors doesnt want to remove the gallbladder.
----------

It would all depend upon the condition of your brother's heart at the time of his surgery. His surgeons would have to make the decision on the grounds of whether his heart would be able to endure the stress of major surgery. I feel for you it is a hard thing to go through for everybody involved.  (+ info)

Can my 4 mo old son get rheumatic fever or the faringites that originates it from me?

Apparently, I have now rheumatic fever caused by a recent strep throat. How dangerous is it for my 4 month old son since most of the info online says that this disease develops more easily in kids between 3-15 years old? I am now using a mouth mask but I just started using after 2 mo I had the throat infection. Should I take any measures to make sure he is fine?
----------

Infants rarely pick up strep, but it isn't unheard of.
Have your son's ped do a strep culture on him, to put your mind at ease. They can also do a small blood test to determine if he is fighting anything off, if you think he might be getting it.
Watch him for fever, abnormal fatigue, vomiting (more than regular spitting up), rash, or a change in voice.
His ped might put him on antibiotics as a prophylactic (pro-fil-ack-tick) measure to prevent him from getting it. Discuss the pro's and con's with him.
If you are being careful enough to wear a mask, I assume you are also making sure to wash your hands frequently and well, as well as your sons? ;) I thought so!
Hope you are feeling better soon - and all remains well with your son!  (+ info)

holistic healing method..
when the body is having a disease, the patient should not be given a nutritious food... he should be asked to fast for 7 or 10 day... but he can take unlimited fruits(not sweet) and uncooked vegetables... this is also called semi-fasting method...during semi-fasting, the bodies energies will be conserved to fight and throw out the disease...that is why , patients are asked to stop so many negative foods ...all high nutritious foods are negative foods for sick people...

What is the growth rate of a thyoid nodule?

I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule about a year ago. Since that time I have had several tests including a biopsy which came out fine. The thyroid nodule measured at 1.3 cm in Sept. 2005 when the first ultrasound was performed. I had a follow up ultrasound done today that measured it at 2.6 cm. I am taking synthroid for a underactive thyroid which should also be suppressing the growth of the nodule as well. I was just wondering if the growth rate is common or not?
----------

Characteristics of the nodule
The history of the mass should be reviewed carefully. Time of initial appearance, rate of growth, and any associated symptoms especially can assist the clinician in determining the malignancy potential of the mass.
Rapid growth is an indicator of malignancy. Therefore, further diagnostic tests should be obtained expediently.
Transient tenderness within the mass at any time may signify an inflammatory process. However, this same symptom may also be caused by tumor hemorrhage, necrosis, or cyst formation. This information can be used to assist the clinician in determining malignancy of the mass.  (+ info)

What is a hypoechoic solid thyroid nodule?

I just found out I have a single hypoechoic solid nodule my ultrasound report says most likely represents a small adenomatous or collateral nodule. My mother had her thyroid removed and her brother had thyroid cancer. I will be seeing an endocrinologist, but until I can get to her I am worried about what this means.
----------

In general terms it means it reflects less ultrasound then surrounding tissue. Such nodules have 20 % risk of being malignant compared to 5 % risk for hyperechoic nodules  (+ info)

What could cause a small, sore nodule just inder the skin in my armpit?

I found a small nodule just under the skin in my armpit because of tenderness in the area. I don't have any symptoms of flu, cold, etc. that should cause inflammatory response. Is this probable a sebaceous cyst? Should I see a doctor or wait a few days to see if there's any change? What type of doctor should I see?
----------

see your family doctor. you could have an ingrown hair that has gotten infected or you could have a swollon lymph node.  (+ info)
