How can you cure sleep sex disorder with out going to doctors?

I have a disorder called sleep sex which is as it sounds. I try to initiate sex when i'm fast asleep. I have found a way round it which means sleeping on my own at all times, My problem is that i am going to a festival soon T in the Park and will be sleeping beside girls and although they know about my problem i'd really rather have it resolved before we go.

What type of sleep disorder matches the description of 'vivid dreams or scenes just before falling asleep'

I keep seeing this symptom listed in sleep disorder checklists, but then the only sleep disorders discussed will be sleep apnea and restless legs, neither of which seems to be related to this symptom.
----------

Hypnogogic hallucination. Not really a disorder, commonly seen in normal individuals, not ego dystonic, not usually remembered. Not treated.  (+ info)

How long does it take to get in to REM sleep?

People have said that it takes over an hour of sleeping to actually dream but I can nod off for about five minutes and dream anyway. Is there something wrong with me or is that normal? Should i be worried about this? Also, does it have to take that long to achieve REM sleep?
They are not daydreams. I know the difference
----------

Normally, people do not enter REM sleep until about 90 minutes into the sleep cycle. However, some people experience sleep onset REM sleep in which they dream within the first 15-20 minutes. This can be a sign of narcolepsy and is not typically experienced. You are most likely fine, but if you are worried, I would go talk to a doctor and see if you may have a mild form of narcolepsy.  (+ info)

What kind of sleep disorder is it when a person starts to sound drunk at night when tired?

I am talking about a person who does not drink any alcohol, use any drugs (legal or illegal), and who has been this way most of their life? Also they are definitely a "morning person" but cannot focus well after about 8 pm and then start to sound naturally drunk by bedtime. (I know this is a sleep disorder because I found it once and now can't remember what it was).
I am not talking about sleep deprivation. I'm talking about regular and normal hours of sleep, such as 10-6 or 11-7 every night.
I think it may be part of "Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome." Anyone heard of this before? (I have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, the opposite of what I'm talking about here).
----------

sleep apnea maybe, if your friend snores...the brain isn't getting enough oxygen durning the night because there is extra skin on the throat and breathing in causes it to close off the oxygen supply, which causes the person to wake themselves up several dozens of times each night (or something like that...).

my friend has it, and he sounds drunk (i can't stand it). he had surgery, but it didn't help. he pops up at 6 am, nods off like a drunk person if he sits still for longer than 3 minutes at any time during the day (sitting straight up), and wants to go to bed at 8.

and there's also narcolepsy, but those people don't sound drunk, they just fall asleep instantly.  (+ info)

Do the symptoms and mental aspects of Seasonal Affective Disorder resemble the behavior of animals?

Specifically these 3 animals:
Cats, Wolves, Foxes

Do the symptoms and mental aspects of Seasonal Affective Disorder resemble the behavior and personality of those animals in any way? If so, how?
----------

No. Those animals do not hibernate. If anything they become more active during the winter months since they have to work harder to feed themselves.
Think of hibernating animals such as bears. S.A.D. is a form of hibernation.  (+ info)

How well do you sleep when you have Bipolar Disorder?

This is for anyone with bipolar disorder.
How long do you sleep on average per night?
Do you wake up often?
Do you always remember your dreams, and how often do you have nightmares?
Do you sleep with total silence, or noise? How much noise?
----------

I know someone with Bipolar disorder and sleep is a huge issue. This person will stay up sometimes til 8 am then only sleep a couple hours in the morning. Also, she has night terrors, very vivid. She sleeps with the TV on. Good luck! Get some sleeping medication.  (+ info)

Is talking in your sleep a psychotic behavior?

I have talked out loud in my sleep for some time now to the point it is beginning to scare me. I not only talk out loud very strongly but know exactly what I am saying and what it means and not always
is it referring to the dream I was just having. Is this normal behavior?
----------

I talk in my sleep all the time and sit up, reach out as if i'm picking things up or opening doors and nod or shake my head as if i'm saying yes or no. It's not a sign of being psychoticl My understanding is that when we sleep our bodies become paralysed to stop us acting out our dreams. Sometimes it doesnt work properly and so we move and speak.  (+ info)
