Is there any medical explanation for why an epidural for neck pain would cause severe lower back pain next day?

With radiculopathy in one of my legs. MRI doesn't show anything, though doesn't rule out much either unfortunately. Seems like a House episode.
I'm not sure what you mean by life support. Epidural injection of steroids and anti-inflamattories in C7 area, to treat neck pain.
----------

sounds like you had some type of pain relief by injection. Not an epidural. If an MRI does not show much then you likely have inflammation in the tendons and muscles and even a torn ?? so massage and accupressure can be a big help.  (+ info)

What is "radiculopathy"?

Definition: Radiculopathy refers to disease of the spinal nerve roots (from the Latin radix for root). Radiculopathy produces pain, numbness, or weakness radiating from the spine.

Description: At the joints between the vertebrae, sensory nerves (nerves conducting sensory information toward the central nervous system) and motor nerves (nerves conducting commands to muscles away from the central nervous system) connect to the spinal cord. Each spinal nerve divides or fans out just before merging with the spinal cord. These smaller, separate nerve bundles are termed the roots of the nerve because they are reminiscent of the way the roots of a plant divide in the ground.  (+ info)

Can this be the cause of my sit pain that occurs around my sit bones?

MRI: L5-S1: Disk degeneration with mild disk bulging. Small broad-based central disk herniation focally more prominent along the right Paracentral disk margin, where the disk herniation contacts and effaces the perineural fats surrounding the proximal right Sl nerve root, which is mildly displaced. Request correlation regarding right Sl radiculopathy. While the left Sl nerve root contacts the posterior border of the disk, there is no mass effect. The neural foramina are normal. This level is otherwise negative.
The lumbar vertebrae and facets align normally. No compression
fracture or pars defect. The conus appears normal.
IMPRESSION: 1. Mild disk bulging L5-S1 with a small broad -based central disk herniation focally more prominent along the right paracentral margin. Here, the disk contacts the right Sl nerve root which is mildly displaced and there is obscuration of the perineural fat.

Should I get a nerve block done for my S1 pinched nerve , and wondering if anyones had any luck w/ it?

I have a pinched nerve at S1 level causing me to have radiculopathy for 9 months, I want to hear about any info or experiences w/ nerve blocks, I've never had one .
----------

Treatment for radiculopathy tends to deal with the underlying cause. If the nerve block was recommended by a professional, it may be an acceptable option at this point.

Depending upon the cause, there may be other options that you could consider if you decide against the nerve block.  (+ info)

lumbar radiculopathy, lumbosacral spondylosis, sprain/strain of lumbar spine, denervation from lumbar to leg.?

These are what I have been assessed as having. The doctor was not as through as i hoped with it. I understand that i have nerve damage from my L3 to my knee that affects my entire lower back to the foot.
The doctor told me that it would take a year a centimiter for the nerve to heal completely. well that is a very long time to me...
Could anyone tell me what these assessments are and the type of meds, treatments, and how long for a permenant recovery would take.
Also, I am in the military and they have started a medical review board to decide if they will retain me. Does anyone have experience with this?
And if so what type of things should be in my doctors formal report to help my case as far as compensation if I am forced to seperate.
thank you

I am sorry for your pain. The back is the main framework for our body and any time there is something wrong with it, well, it sucks. I am a very big fan of webmd.com and mayoclinic.com. I use them almost daily and recommend them frequently to my home health patients. Both are easy to use and understand and have great information available.
As far as the medical review, I am not familiar with the armed forces guidelines. In my world (no offense intended) a medical review includes everything from diagnosis, tests performed, any physical/rehabilitation therapy recommended, length of therapy, and prognosis or expected results of therapy (what degree of recovery you will make and in what time frame). If you are expected to have some type of permanent disability, then this would be the time to find out what benefits you are entitled to and how to file for them.
I have degenerative hip disease which sometimes causes complete loss of use of my left leg/foot when it moves the wrong way, so I can truly understand what you are coping with. Any way, I hope this helps you and I wish you the best at your review.

Thank You and all of your brothers for keeping America the "home of the free". God Bless You All.  (+ info)

Cervical radiculopathy?

I knew for some time I had neck bulges around c6, I woke up with ecrutiating L shoulder pain, with burning in different areas in my arm, I got massage minor relief and I have now started to take 2 neurofen plus every 4 hours which initially held my pain but now doesn't, I went to have a CT because I still have arm pain but I have a numb index finger. The CT showed that my C6 disc has bulged superiorily and laterally on the L side and I have and posterior osteophyte distorting my cord...
This sound really nasty, and I can put up with the pain, but the numb finger is not great, can someone help me with advice, my chiro has adjusted ribs but not my low Cs.

Can certain medicines cause a female to have sore breasts and spot bleed before her period?

I am taking medicines for lower back pain with radiculopathy, Tension Headaches, and Migraine Headaches. I am taking the following medications: Birth Control Pills, Nortryptyline 75 MG, Maxalt 10 mg MLT, Tramadol 50 MG, and Butalbital/APAP/ Caffeine Tablets.
I do not beleive that I am pregant. I went on October 17, 2006 to the Health Department and got a physcail done. The Health Department took a pregancy test then, it was negative. The Health Department gave me more Birth Control
Pills to take.
I normally do not spot bleed before my period and that is why I posted this question.

Can someone please translate this diagnoses for me ?

The patient has chronic lumbosacral radiculopathy with lumbago & lumbar myofascial syndrome . Her permanent impairment rating would be estimated at 14% for her lumbar spine{12+1+1} plus 1% for the lumbosacral radiculopathy for a total of 15% for the whole person permanent impairment rating .
This is my diagnoses from an IME .
----------

Chronic lumbosacral radiculopathy - long standing pain in the lower back (lumbar region) due to compressed nerves.
Lumbar myofascial syndrome - pain radiating from the lumbar region due to knots or nodules caused by muscle spasm.

Your physical capabilities are down by 15% due to these conditions.  (+ info)
