Totally, yes! Stuffy nose IS a symptom of pregnancy. And stuffy nose can cause a sore throat. Im not sure about the diarrhea.

Some women do not have nausea when they are pregnant. This is a good thing.

Personally, mine started when I was about 3-4 weeks pregnant.  (+ info)

How can a gastrectomy patient prevent nausea and vomiting?

My Dad hand his whole stomach removed 12 years ago. When he eats he often feels nauseous and sometimes vomits bile or the whole meal. At first I thought some food make him sick and some food doesn't. But it doesn't seem to matter what he eats, it seems to be completely random if the food makes him sick or not.
Does anyone have any insight as to why he sometimes gets sick and sometimes doesn't?
As you can imagine throwing up every day is a terrible thing to live with and Id appreciate any advice.
Danny

He should have an upper GI endoscopy as soon as possible.  (+ info)

Any ideas to end this nausea and vomiting?

I'm eight weeks pregnant and just can't take the nausea anymore. So I went to the doctors and they prescribed a medicine called Zophran. But my insurance wouldn't cover it and it costs 124 dollars for thirty pills so i left it there. I vomited so much today i'm currently dizzy. I don't want to take an ambulance trip and spend 380 then another 400 on the hospital. I'm trying to hold on until morning. Please guys help. Oh and I tried salt crackers, and ginger-ale and flat pepsi then coke, and nothing helps.
----------

My SIL's doctor recommend pepcid over the counter and she says it helps. Talk to your doctor about it and see if he/she recommends this. Sorry you are feeling so sick!!  (+ info)

----------

Well I didnt have much look with that I used phergen. It helped out more with the nausea why dont you try to sip on ginger tea throughout the day and each in smaller protions that should help. Carry something small like crackers peanuts the protein will make you feel but better try a bagel toasted with peanut butter that always did the trick for me.  (+ info)

Nausea and vomiting at 15 weeks, is this normal?

I'm really scared because I threw up only twice during my whole 1st trimester. However I have only been in my 2nd trimester for a couple of weeks and I have already thrown up 4 or 5 times. So, in other words, I am vomiting more in my 2nd trimester than I did in the 1st.

Is this normal? I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. That I would be feeling better in the 2nd trimester, but I feel worse!!!!!
Please - someone answer. Any help?
----------

I'm sorry to tell you that some women experience nausea and vomiting through out their entire pregnancy. And some throw up around 10 times a day, so you are still among the lucky ones.
Being nausea's is not per definition a bad thing it just means that your body is creating hormones for the pregnancy that make you feel sick.
It might disappear any time, so let's just hope for that.

Good luck  (+ info)

Why do I get horrible spells of nausea and vomiting??

It's been going on for a couple years, where I go from feeling fine to suddenly being completely incapacitated with nausea and violent episodes of vomiting. When vomiting I shake and sweat real bad and get sharp pains in my upper abdomen. Sometimes it lasts a few hours, sometimes a couple days. The only reason I have not seen a doctor is cause I have no insurance! Does this sound like it could be a gall bladder problem?
----------

It could be if the episodes follow eating. You should really go to the doctor though. If it is a gallbladder problem and you leave it untreated, your gallbladder can get blocked up and lead to an inflammation in the abdomen (peritonitis) and of the pancreas (which could lead to other problems such as diabetes). The cost of treating these other problems would far exceed treating your current problem. Anyway, if you are having episodes for days at a time, you are probably missing work and therefore missing out on pay. If nothing else, next time you have an attack, go to the emergency room.  (+ info)

Nausea and vomiting during and after extremely hard exercise?

I've done google and yahoo searches about this, but haven't had any luck. In high school, we would exercise until we were nauseated and eventually vomited. What is the cause of the nausea and vomiting? We were careful to exercise only after waiting 2 to 3 hours after eating.

I also see on television that other people exercise until they vomit also.

I haven't exercised to the point of nausea/vomiting since high school, which was over 20 years ago now. I still get nauseated when working out but have the sense to slow down or stop until the nausea goes away.

I just completed 2 semesters of college 100 level human anatomy and physiology. I'm just very curious about what's happening to the digestive system during extreme exercise.
----------

I do triathlons...and one of the trickiest parts to a longer race is hydration and food. First, it takes some getting used to to be able to eat food when your hr is at 180 and you are peddling like mad to hold your speed on the bike. Most of the blood supply seems to be going to the quads and sometimes the stomach just "shuts down"...meaning everything you have been so carefully eating just comes right up and out....the stomach sort of says "the hell if i am going to be digesting ANYTHING right now". I mean I KNOW that I need approx 300 calories per hour on the bike along with 1 liter of fluid. But, if my stomach won't accept that ... I am quickly SOL. And then I have to start over with the food/hydration dance again. It doesn't happen much anymore...it seems the body becomes acclimated to digesting under extreme conditions.
I have been in swim practice and almost thrown up. I have been out running doing either speed work or tempo runs and thrown up. And, i have thrown up during races. It has been a few years..but it has happened. It is always under major physical stress though...for example, never during a long easy run or long easy bike ride. Always seems to occur under major duress.

You say you waited 2 to 3 hours after eating to exercise. I could never do that. I eat yogurt and cereal and then run 12-14 miles and bring Goo or Clif Shots with me along with some sort of hydration. I need some calorie input during a longer run or bike and definitely during a longer race like 1/2 ironman or ironman. In fact, during Ironman 2003 I think I ate in excess of 5000 calories during the race...but probably burned thru 9,000.

So, long answer. What happens to the digestive sys during extreme exercise? I think much of the oxygen carrying blood gets diverted to more immediate needs like heart, quads, lungs, diaphram, etc...and away from functions like digestion. Since the stomach now is not being provided what it needs to have to digest...it ejects the food. No reason to keep it there if it isn't going to get digested.

Good question though. It'll be interesting to see what others say...  (+ info)

What can i do to prevent nausea/vomiting while taking plan B?

i have to take plan B but i haaaaate throwing up.. is there anything i can do/take so i wont throw up or get nauscious?
----------

Actually, I've taken Plan B three times before, and it has never made me even slightly nauseous.

I think you have a greater chance of becoming nauseous if you use a high dose of birth control pills as emergency contraception instead of Plan B. Most women use Plan B with little or no side effects. So you should be fine. Really, don't worry about it. :)

As stated on the Planned Parenthood website:
"The risk of nausea and throwing up are much less with Plan B. Less than 1 out of 4 women feel sick when they take Plan B."

If you're really worried about the possibility of vomiting, then take anti-nausea medicine one hour before taking the Plan B pills. Also, make sure you take the pills on a full stomach.

Good luck!  (+ info)
