What kind of tasty food has a long shelf/storage life? In case of plague / national emergency?
Like if a new plague is coming - like the Black Death.
Does pasta last a long time?
Absolved hehe... you could get water for boiling from lakes and stuff. Even if it's contaminated dirty... you can filter and boil it (boiling for like 8 minutes constant).
All types of canned food, obviously. Canned string beans, fruit in a cup, or yummy beans. Your pick. (+ info

How did they cure the black plague?
For some reason I just decided to do research on the Black Plague, but I just haven't found out something that I really want to know. How did they cure the bubonic plague in the middle ages?
In the middle ages they didn't. Their 'cure' was for enough people to die and to isolate themselves as much as possible from the sick or 'strangers/foreigners' that the disease no longer spread and died out since it has such a high host fatality rate.
Today there are drugs that can treat it but it still causes a panic whenever it appears. The last couple large outbreaks were in India I think. (+ info
What can I do to convince the doctor that I have the Black Plague?
I think I have a Mideval Desease called the Black Plague, but my doctor won't believe me. What can I do to convince him? He says it hasn't been around for over a thousand years, but recently I have came to notice that the Plague has caused me to cough out of turn (we have to take turns coughing in my neighborhood), the knack of not being able to say the word "skedaddle" while flipping through the many meaningless pages of People magazine (did you know that Paris Hilton was put in jail for driving without a licence?), and to top it all off, I think my dog is a sixty-kilometers tall dragon, Petrov, who bullies me endlessly without remorse. Dragons can be so mean, you know?
So, someone please help me convince my doctor that I DO, in fact, have the Black Plague! Thank you all for your time, but hurry. I think the plague is worsening.
I know what you mean about those darn dragons! Especially the ones that breathe fire. As for your doctor, I believe that you will be unable to convince him because it seems that he, too, has the Plague! Denial of existance of the Plague is the last stage of the disease. (+ info
What are the symptoms of the Black Plague?
I think I have the plague.
Here are my symptoms,
Unpleasant Taste (But that could have just been from the rat poison I accidently ingested yesterday, it's gone now.)
Loss of Appetite and
Oh yeah, and my face caved in just a few minutes ago, but I don't think that's a problem. It's only minor, and I can pop it back out through the gash in the back of my skull.
You do not have bubonic plague. It is characterised by buboes or lumps.
You do have a problem however, but it is more psychological than physical- seek therapy immediately. (+ info
Can the plague be treated with simple antibiotics?
bubonic and or mnemonic, i heard once that had they had antibiotics back in the day the plague would never have been nowhere near as bad. is this true?
Yes it can. The real problem was sanitation. If the people had known that the promoter of the plague were rats carrying fleas that transmitted the plague, they could have simply gotten rid of it easily. Through human history, we have developed antibodies to many diseases and that is ultimately the way the human race becomes stronger and more immune to disease. The polio problem resolved itself and the vaccines given to people actually caused more cases of polio than the disease itself. 90% or more of the population had polio, but didn't know it because polio is typically a very mild disease and the effects are no more than what you feel from a common cold. The about 1% of victims of polio that suffered paralysis were due to their immune systems were compromised for some reason. Dr. Jonas Salk, the inventor of the polio vaccine admitted that the vaccine caused more polio than the disease itself. According to the statistics for Polio, showed that Polio was on it's way out of the human population when the vaccine was introduced. Additionally, many wild viruses were in the vaccines and it is clearly how AIDS got started from the SV-40 virus that was in the green monkeys Merck Corporation used to make the polio virus. Sabin that created the live polio vaccine also had the SV-40 virus in that as well.
Watch this video of a confidential interview of Dr. Maurice Hilleman, the Chief Scientist responsible for making over 40 popular vaccines when in charge of the vaccine division for the company, including polio vaccines and leukemia vaccines.
good luck to you (+ info
genetic engineering in mankind like dogs cats etc did it cause the plague?
Some scholars say that we earthlings are all one gene pool and that overbreeding and genetic engineering weakened our genetic inheritance and our immune systems, thus causing plague to and other diseases to bring about the massive death toll of the black plague, and the "galloping consumption" or white death of influenza.in the 16th and 17th centuries...
maybe profiteering scientists have been around for ages.
Nonsense. The plague came from bacteria harbored in rats; no one in the days of the plague knew about bacteria or where they came from. The people in the middle ages had lots of wild ideas, like "bad air", "poisoned water wells", etc. Read a little history about it. There were also no antibiotics back then, which easily kills the Y. pestis bacteria if someone were to catch it today (and people still can, for e.g. it still exists in great quantities in the southwest).
