I just found out that I have Pityriasis Rosea. My symptoms are getting pretty bad. I was wondering if anyone on here had it and how long it lasted for them?/ I was also wondering what they found to help with the itching. So if anyone had it can you please tell me Thanks
I'm using cortizone and that doesn't seem to help. Well Thanks for your answers i'll try those solutions
i had it as a young person. Lasted 6 weeks. Cortisone ( ask your dr) cream helped with itch - also baking soda baths.  (+ info)

How do you get rid of Pityriasis Rosea?

I have had this for about 5 - 6 weeks and I hate it. Does anyone know how to get rid of it as I have got to go swimming next week, and it looks awful!!
And yes, I have seen a doctor about it already, and they only gave me lotion to stop the itching. I am just looking for some way to actually get rid of it completely.

Unfortunately, it's really up to your body to get rid of it, as it is felt to be due to a virus infection. However, sunlight has been shown to help, as has topical cortisone lotions or creams.  (+ info)

One web site said it was fungal based. I've had luck on skin fungal problems with any of the athletes foot creams mixed with hydrocortisone. Available at any drugstore, OTC.  (+ info)

Anything is possible. They say you can get chicken pox only once in your life, I had it twice (both times confirmed by a doctor). I also have had Pityriasis Rosea. Once you have had this you know what it is like. If you think that you are getting a herald patch, most likely you are. Go to a doctor, they can prescribe meds for this. I had the option of letting it run its course or take some meds. I took the meds for two weeks and my Pityriasis Rosea cleared up.  (+ info)

I have had pityriasis rosea for a little over 2 weeks and the bumps are starting to flatten out, the ones on my chest are almost gone but still red. My skin is very dry! and I just want to know if that means its starting to go away.

It could mean that it is starting to go away but I don't think so, It normally takes about six weeks for the rash to completely clear up.So just because its clearing up at the moment,you could still have another outbreak. For the dryness just use the aveeno lotion and the aveeno oatmeal bath(very good for dry skin) and try to avoid hot showers/baths and stenous activities that cause you to sweat because this can make the rash worser.  (+ info)

I do know there is no know cure or cause but I've heard that some people have been able to use herbal remedies and such. Please help
I just had that a couple of months ago. If you have a lot of red bumps on you stomach and back and it itches like crazy you probably have it. I first noticed bumps on my stomach. I went to the doctor the next couple of days and I had it. Hydrocortisone 1% helped a little. So did Avenno Oatmeal Bath mix helped. But, then after that It still itched like crazy. I had to go back to the doctor and get 2 prescriptions that helped 1000 times more than to other stuff. It went away in a little over three weeks. It is most common in people ages 10-35. Don't worry it will go away. Also, when you take a shower use lukewarm water.( the rash itches more when it is overheated.) Hope this helps!  (+ info)

I was just diagnosed with this and I wanted to know how long it took for ya'll to get over it if you have had it. For ya'll who havent had this and all you're going to say is "what is that?" save it. I'm really not in the mood right now. Please answer as soon as you can seriously.

If symptoms are mild, no treatment may be needed.

Gentle bathing, mild lubricants or creams, or mild hydrocortisone creams may be used to soothe inflammation. Antihistamines, taken by mouth, may be used to reduce itching.

Moderate sun exposure or ultraviolet light treatment may help make the lesions go away more quickly. However, care must be taken to avoid sunburn.

child of 12 has contracted pityriasis rosea. Can anyone give advice on how to eradicate the spots.
This is a pretty common rash in young people. It is itchy and scaly but is not contagious and generally goes away in 4 - 6 weeks. The very best thing you can do is expose the skin to sunlight. That will help speed the healing process. No cream helps more than the sun and it's natural! Hope that helps!  (+ info)
