What supplements are out that can help with bone growth and can stimulate the pituitary?

I have no facial hair i am not fully matured yet i want to reach my full potential in height growth, by the use of nutrition and supplements. I am 6'5 i want to get an inch or two.
----------

Unfortunately there are none... at least not the way you're thinking. Most Calcium products would help with the health of the bones, but none that can force them to grow.
Really, nothing can force your body to grow taller than your DNA says you will. There are some things that can take away from your potential height (including smoking, drugs, caffeine, etc), so as long as you stay away from those and have a healthy diet, you should grow as tall as you're supposed to. Besides all that, your growing age normally peaks around 20 years old, so if you're younger than that, you've got plenty of time to finish growing and any HGH pills (or other "artificial growth" products) can actually be detrimental to your height and/or health. If you are over 20 years old, HGH won't help with height anyway because your bones would have already fused.
However, if you're already 6'5", that's much taller than the average and you probably have time to grow still... heck, you might even grow more than 2 more inches, who knows.
Good luck and I hope I helped!  (+ info)

What is the rare type of diabetes that stops the pituitary gland from secreting ADH?

And what are the symptoms of it?

For biology work.
----------

Diabetes insipidus (the correct spelling of the condition).

The two main symptoms of diabetes insipidus are:

* needing to pass large amounts of urine often, and
* feeling thirsty all the time.  (+ info)

How long does it take to recover after surgery to for pituitary adenoma?

Also, What kind of post-surgery care is needed? What are the restrictions after that surgery? What kind of things the patient can and cannot do after the surgery?

My husband is having this surgery in a couple of weeks and we have 1 year old twins. Will he be able to carry the babies? move around the house? etc?

Thank you,

What is the primary function of the pituitary gland?

My daughter just had an MRI of the brain and it came back saying her pitiuatary gland is enlarged, the doctor said it could just be because she's a teenager, but I don't think thats the case, they are retaking the MRI to get a more indepth picture of the gland. She has been having bad headaches and her vision has decreased in one years time.

The pituitary is the 'master gland' the one that controls most of the other endocrine (ductless) glands. Your pituitary puts out follicle stimulating hormones so you ovulate, it regulates your growth, your thyroid function, water levels in your body, and many other things. You can live without a pitutiary, but you need hormone replacements for the rest of your life to make up for the lack.  (+ info)

I have a pituitary tumor is this why i am experiencing symptoms of pregnancy early?

When I was 14 my doctor told me that I would likely not be able to have a child because my hormones would always be out of whack. I am still one week away from my period now and am experiencing nausea, backaches, headaches, tiredness, trouble sleeping, and frequent urination. I also had some spotting. Anyone had anything similar? I am trying my best not to get my hopes up.
----------

Well fingers crossed this is your time but I think if its not you need to see your doc again to ask some questions! I have a tumor on my pituitary gland too (mine made my periods totally stop) and I take tablets to control my lactose levels, I take them every day and will for the rest of my life, I cant believe they are doing nothing to treat you! I have been told that while im on the tablets I should stand the same chance of conceiving as any one else, at the moment Im also on clomid though to help strenghten my ovulation, totally irrelivent to my prolactinoma.

I really hope you are pregnant and they symptoms sound good......but if not go see doc again, theres plenty they can do to regulate your cycles its a bit harsh to just say you may never be a mum without trying!  (+ info)

Anyone know anyways to stimulate the pituitary gland?

If your going to answer, answer my question. Don't give me advice about how that could be dangerous or how the pituitary gland works. Excercise isn't an answer either (I already do alot of that)
----------

human growth hormone is what your are looking for. genf20 is an HGH stimulator. It causes your pituitary gland to make more HGH. I am not saying that this will make you grow taller or get "anything" bigger but, it can help if taken in moderation.  (+ info)

pituitary gland migraines, how do i relieve the headaches now?

My doctor perscribed a medication to shrink the gland, however she said it would take three weeks to see results. what home remedies/natural cures can i use to stop the pain now?
----------

I don't know about your Gland Migraines, but this may help.
I have been getting severe migraines since I was very little, and here are some things I have found that relieve migraines the best.

1. Have you tried cold packs? I buy cold packs for my head. I always get my migraines right on my forehead, so I just have cold packs at hand. Another option is the Head On Migraine Relief Product. You can get it at a drug store for about $8, and it provides great cool relief like an ice pack, except you just rub the stick on whatever place hurts on your head. I love snuggling in the warm covers with an ice pack on my head when I have a migraine, it gives great relief.

2. Take hot showers. Normally when I am dry, being somewhere hot will make my migraines worse. But hot showers feel really good when I have migraines. For the 20 minutes I am in the hot shower, I literally cannot feel the migraine no matter how bad it is. So when I wake up to a severe migraine, I hop in the shower to relieve the pain. It may not feel any better when you get out, but it will sure feel good while it lasts. About 1/4 of the time after a shower when I have a migraine, it will be smaller.

3. Guess you can't take other medication then? When the Gland goes away and you have another migraine, I recommend Excedrin Migraine. You do not need a prescription, and it works miracles on my migraines.

4. Sleep ! I find sleeping always makes the migraines smaller. Even just a 30 minute nap. So just rest a little.  (+ info)

What is the aproximate cost for a transsphenoidal surgery of a pituitary adenoma?

Have no clue how much it costs in the U.S. In Mexico it costs around 60 thousand dollars.
----------

It will probably cost four times that much in the US. I've read a lot about people going to India for operations recently. For that kind of money it might be worthwhile to check into it.
Best luck.  (+ info)

What natural product or food can one take to stimulate the Pituitary Gland to grow taller?

or is there a drug for this?
----------

Well, some Amino Acids like L-Tyrosine or L-Ornithine help to nourish the Pituitary gland among others..... but they won't specifically make you grow taller any faster than you would otherwise (maybe an inch faster per foot..... maybe).

There is no drug, supplement, or any other type of product that can claim to make you grow taller... you just have to wait for your body to grow as it's going to grow. If you grew faster than your body was ready for, you could actually damage your joints or bones, in theory  (+ info)

Can paralyzing effects of a stroke due to a pituitary tumor be reversed by successful removal of that tumor?

A family member (male, age 73) suffered a massive stroke a year ago. He'd already had a mild one. His neurologist detected a tumor on his pituitary gland. Before he & wife could make a decision about surgery to remove it, the predicted massive stroke occurred. He lost use of his right side. Over the next months, he slowly improved, physically & cognitively, defying doctors' prognosis. But last week he had another mild stroke. Now entire face & neck are paralyzed. His jaws, mouth & eyelids droop, he can't talk at all, and he also seems to have lost his sight. The only way family even knows he's not totally out of it is he responds to commands & questions appropriately by movements of his good leg. He also aspirates his liquid feeds now, and can't cough; keeps getting pneumonia. Quality of life is now zero. Family's wondering if tumor removal is a good last ditch idea (in lieu of letting nature take its course and/or feeding tube removal), or if it's too late now to make a difference.
I'm only asking this question because he is in a very understaffed nursing home, and the family's not been able to catch up with the doctor there who's treating him. Time is of the essence.
----------

Once the brain is severely damaged there is very little hope that it will regenerate, besides the heart muscle, the brain, and other nervous tissue do not regenerate, or heal them selves. Removing the pituitayr tumor more than 95% of the time will not cause a reversal of the stroke. Once blood supply to the brain is interrupted that section of the brain dies and is therefore gone. In some cases if the stroke is caught within the first three hours and it is not a hemorrhagic stroke, then the same clotbusters given to heart attack victims are used and the brain tissue can be saved. I, myself in my emergency medicine career have seen many cases where there have been complte turn arounds with this clot buster medication, but it is vital that this be given within the first three hours of the onset of symptoms. In this case i highly doubt that there will be any benefit from the tumor removal, in fact this is very serios surgery and may even prove fatal to the patient.  (+ info)
