What are some signs of a fever without a thermometer?

Im 7 months pregnant so im really afraid that my cold is more like a fever.
And im not anywhere near a thermometer.
Is there any wives tales or ways to see if i have a fever?
Other than the old is your forehead hot trick.
Thank You.
----------

Paracetemol is safe for pregnant women...take 1x500mg tablet. My doctor says let someone kiss your forehead and if it feels hot on their lips, you do have a fever. Take a cool (not cold) bathtub to reduce your temp. Have someone make you some warm chicken soup, from a package is fine.  (+ info)

How long should a childs fever normally last?

How long should a childs fever normally last? My Child has had a fever for about four days now. We have already taken him to see his doctor, and he is simply taking fever reducers. It has now been four days and he is still on and off with this fever. He is 22months and we dont know what to do now.
----------

Fevers can be extended or shortened depending on how they are being treated. Fevers shouldn't be normal, so I can't tell you how long they should last.
However there are things you can do to make them go away sooner. What is your child eating?
Do not overfeed the child. Actually, it would make the fever go away sooner if you only gave your child nothing but water for a day or two.

I hope this helps and would appreciate you providing updates on the situation.
I wish you and your child the best.  (+ info)

If a fever is working to kill an infection why take a fever reducer?

Wouldn't a virus go away faster if you let your fever linger instead of taking a fever reducer because the fever works to kill the virus? Is taking a fever reducer better than not taking one with a high fever?
----------

Because Mr. Tylenol needs a new Mercedes.

Fevers CAN be dangerous. If they are too high or too high for too long they can cause seizures, brain damage, coma and death.

However a fever is an immune response and as long as it's not high enough to pose a danger itself, I usually just let them run their course. I had a fever of 103.7F as an adult once. Most adults cannot tolerate this and should not try to. I felt fine. Actually I felt great so maybe I was somewhat delusional, but had someone looking after me at the time and they eventually got it down.  (+ info)

How high should a fever be before I need to take my 7 year old to an after hours clinic?

My seven year old has had a fever for the last twodays, we give him tylenol and it goes down. We are planning on taking him to see his doctor first thing tomorrow morning, but his temerature is at 102.6. Should we take him to an after hours clinic tonight? Or are we okay to take him to his doctor tomorrow?
----------

you should try to give hime childrens Motrin.....it works quicker at bringing the high fever down and last for 8 hours, I believe......Try to give him this before he goes to bed tonight as the fever usually goes up in the middle of the night.... It may last until you can get him to the dr???  (+ info)

What is an acceptable fever for a toddler that is teething?

If you child is teething, what is an acceptable fever? I know that they have low-grade fevers as a common symptom of teething. What is considered low-grade? Seems like our day care sends our kid home a lot for running fevers and I think it's probably just him teething since we see other symptoms (finger in mouth, slightly runny nose, red cheeks...).
----------

When my little ones were teething, they always ran 100 - 101 fever. I would think that 99 would be ok but it is a very good idea what your day care does. There are rules with the government when you own a day care. One of those things is just common sense. If my baby had a fever I would stay home and take care of it.......teething or not. Which, by the way, I did do with both of my babies. I know that times are hard now and money is hard to obtain these days and it does not go far so...Low Grade is below 98.7. I wish you all the luck in the world !!!  (+ info)
