What happens when Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Goes Untreated?

I'm worried because my friend just told me a couple years ago she had got diagnosed with PID but the never took the medicine for it, What can happen to her?
----------

Every year, more than 100,000 women become infertile and more than a hundred women die from PID or its complications.

COMPLICATIONS

Prompt and appropriate treatment can help prevent complications of PID. Without treatment, PID can cause permanent damage to the female reproductive organs. Infection-causing bacteria can silently invade the fallopian tubes causing normal tissue to turn into scar tissue. This scar tissue blocks or interrupts the normal movement of eggs into the uterus. If your fallopian tubes are totally blocked by scar tissue, sperm cannot fertilize an egg and you become infertile. Infertility also can occur if the fallopian tubes are partially blocked or even slightly damaged. About one in eight women with PID becomes infertile.

In addition, a partially blocked or slightly damaged fallopian tube may cause a fertilized egg to remain in the fallopian tube. If this fertilized egg begins to grow in the tube as if it were in the uterus, it is called an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy can rupture the fallopian tube causing severe pain, internal bleeding, and even death.

Scarring in the fallopian tubes and other pelvic organs can also cause chronic pelvic pain (pain lasting for months or even years). You are more likely to suffer infertility, ectopic pregnancy, or chronic pelvic pain if you have repeated episodes of PID.  (+ info)

I live in China and my girlfriend has pelvic inflammatory disease. Can somebody please give me some info?

The doctor said that it had progressed into a state where only lazer surgery will possible get rid of it. However if she does that her chance of getting pregnant is very low. The doctor suggested she get pregnant as soon as possible and then have it done. I love the girl and Ive been with her for a year, but I feel I'm not quite ready for a child. But then again we could be missing the only chance possible......Anyone with advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated.

If you heard this from the doc. & you know it's "true", (hey, sometimes ppl lie), then my advice would be to discuss the pros/cons to having a baby at this point in your lives...it may be a harder road for you, with ups/downs, & you need to discuss that you both are ready for whatever could happen. Having a baby is a huge discission, to me, more than marriage, since u "could" divorce, but a child is forever & IF the relationship doesnt last, do u feel u BOTH are the kind of people who would always be able to communicate & still be in the child's life, if so, I'd say, u should consider having the baby asap..if not, then you should wait it out.
~There's lots of options avail. to help to concieve. ~Never rush into anything..
~I am a mother & a wife of 9 yrs./this is my "experience"/advice  (+ info)

To those who have had Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, what did it feel like, and what symptons did you have?

If you have had it, how bad and how severe was the pain. How did the pain feel like and where did you experience it.
----------

My son was three months old when i collapsed in agony, the pain was on my left side just above the groin. The infection had caused a cyst the size of a fist in my fallopian tube. The tube was surgically unblocked and i was given a course of antibiotics  (+ info)
