Can having lots of sex weaken the pelvic muscles?

I've been needing to pee more recently the last month or so. I have not been drinking more caffeine, or anything really. I know for sure that i'm not pregnant, I don't have a bladder infection, diabetes nor a sexually transmitted disease.

Is it possible my pelvic muscles have weakened from sex?

Is it normal to be getting pelvic and lower back pain with the copper coil?

I had it fitted 10 months ago (very painful) seemed to be ok at first last few months had pain and bleeding and constant back pain. Have been tested for infection STD's etc., I have not had children don't know if this makes it worse. Debating whether to have it removed and go back on the pill, though I do find it causes me weight gain.
----------

I had the 5 year one and made it to 4 years and 6 months. After the initial fiting (excruciating) and several heavy periods later it settled down- in the 4th year i started to get really bad stomach cramps that radiated to my back...I had the whole battery of tests, urine, STD, blood tests= Nothing. I was told to remove the coil as sometimes skin can tighten around it or harbour bacteria. It feels so much better no it's out but i DO think it's the best non-hormonal method....i would have one again..It's just bad luck when things go wrong.

i think she means the pill causes her weight gain!  (+ info)

Can a pelvic exam detect ectopic pregnancy?

So I am 5 weeks pregnant and experiencing uti/kidney stone like symptoms. Burning urethra/ pelvic area, and trouble emptying my bladder. All urine tests came back negative. Doctor put me on antibiotics to rule out infection anywhere. He did a full internal exam and found nothing. I always worry about ectopic pregnancy..would he have found anything out of the norm if this was ectopic while he was doing the internal ?
----------

ultra sound and blood work are needed to pick up an ectopic pregnancy

some times during an exam if you have pain on your right or left side and brown bleeding it can indicate a ectopic but you need more tests to establish it  (+ info)

I AM SO SCARED, HELP! Pelvic infection?

After having apendix like pain on my lower right side and an occasional aching on my left, I went to the ER yesterday to make sure everything was okay since it was making me very nervous and scared.

They did a lot of tests and they told me all my organs were okay, but because my pee was burning and there was no bacteria, they told me they think I have a pelvic infection.
I DO NOT have any kind of STD, I am 16 and have one sexual partner that I've known all my life and I am his only sexual partner as well. I'm very very scared that this infection will make me infertile since the doctors think the infection is on both sides of my reproductive system and have moved upward.
They gave me 5 pills to take and told me I am to have an ultrasound ASAP (might be a couple week's wait!)
I AM SUPER SUPER SCARED. Is it possible for a STD to just appear one day? Other than sexual contact, how else can I get an std? They are NOT sure if this infection is caused by an STD but by my online research this is caused by an STD like 99% of the time...

I know I want to be a mom one day, that's like my one and only goal. I want a lot of healthy kids. Is it possible I can have them still, or is it going to be unlikely? And can anyone tell me a breif overview of what this pelvic infection is?
Why are you laughing? If it's because I posted it numerous times, I just want some help. If you're being a douche, please eff off.
----------

Okay first of all calm down. It will be alright, chances are whatever the doctor's say you have is what you have. Any situation it is, they will take care of you, and answer all your questions, in the mean time just try not to worry. I am pretty sure you can still have kids.  (+ info)

Can a woman get a pelvic infection following a Pap Test?

I had a pap and the day after, I noticed abnormal bleeding. It lasted, along with pelvic pain, nausea, fatigue and weakness, for over 3 weeks. A nurse at the health department, which is where I go for gynecological care, told me that they couldn't do anything for me and that I should go to the ER. The doc at the ER said I had alot of bacteria that resulted in the infection following the Pap Test. I was completely fine before my Pap Test and I had never had this kind of reaction to a Pap test before. Is the person who performed my Pelvic Exam and Pap Test responsible for my infection? I'm not sure why I got an infection. I practice very good hygiene. I'd like to know if you think I should start going to another OB/GYN. I don't know if I should trust the same people who may have given me an infection to continue to perform procedures on me. Or, is it common for some women to get an infection after having a Pap test. (I was never told that this was a risk factor.) Thanks in advance!
----------

It is absolutely and utterly UNCOMMON for someone to get an infection after a cervical smear procedure. If you had no recent change of sexual partner prior to the procedure and haven't indeed had a STI I would take this very seriously. I perform smears myself on women - it is a completely clinically clean procedure - we use disposable speculum's - there is a chance it wasn't clean. But hell's bell's that's incredibly poor and totally inexcusable. See your primary Dr. They will want a sexual health history from you. If it was the smear taker - it needs following up.  (+ info)

It's a day after the ER and I've been feeling EXTREMELY nautious, hungry but not interested in eating and I've been having headaches and dizziness. Could this be from the pills, if anyone has had a pelvic infection...?
----------

I am glad you got to an ER right away to catch this, good for you. I have never had a pelvic infection of any kind, but I can give you the best kind of advise to avoid any further problems while you get this under control.

1.) Only a doctor or gyno can tell you if have anything STD-related, because the female body can defintely play tricks that can scare us into assuming the worst, y' know?

2.) DO NOT have intercourse until you get a clean bill of health from your doc. No intercourse of ANY KIND. There is several reasons for this, but mainly because your body does not need any kind of exposure to problematic substances, be it condoms, semen, etc.

3.) Stay calm. I know this is very scary for you, as it would be for any woman, but you did the best thing you could have done at this point by seeking help in treating it. Defintely follow up with a doctor ASAP.

God bless and hope this helps a little.  (+ info)

How long does a bladder infection last?

I have had one since Wensday. On Thursday my doctor gave me a 3 day antibiotic. I still have pain/cramps in my pelvic area. When will it go away? This morning I took the last pill. When can I have sex again?
----------

A physician or other health care provider can treat urinary tract infections. The first thing your doctor will do is confirm that you have a UTI by taking a clean-catch urine specimen. At the office or clinic, you'll be asked to wash your genital area with disposable wipes and then urinate into a sterile (bacteria-free) cup. If an infection is found when the specimen is examined, you'll be given antibiotics. Since there are many different antibiotics available, the doctor may then use your urine specimen for a urine culture, which is a test to identify the exact type of bacteria causing your infection. It takes about 48 hours to get results from a urine culture, so you may have to switch antibiotics depending on the results.

Although antibiotics begin fighting the infection right away, they can't stop all the symptoms right away. If you have a lot of pain, your health care provider may recommend a medication to relieve the pain in your bladder, This medicine will clear up the painful symptoms in about 3 days, although it will usually make you much more comfortable within hours. It's important to take the antibiotics until the prescription is finished. Many people stop taking the medication when they begin to feel better, but that doesn't allow the antibiotics to completely kill the bacteria, which increases the risk that the infection will reappear. If you ever develop a rash from an antibiotic or have difficulty breathing, STOP taking it immediately and call the health care provider who prescribed the medication! For some infections, you may only have to take antibiotics for 3 days, but usually you'll be on medication for 7 to 14 days.

It's important to drink lots of water during and after treatment because each time you urinate, the bladder cleanses itself a little bit more. Cranberry juice also has been shown to have positive effects on UTIs. DON'T use the kind of juice that says "Juice Cocktail" on the label. That has too much sugar and is not concentrated enough with cranberries. Make sure the cranberry juice is 100% juice, many brands are now 100% cranberry. Quality cranberry juice produces hippuric acid in the urine which acidifies the urine and prevents bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder. If pure cranberry juice is not available, cranberry capsules can be substituted. They can be found in most health food stores. Always take these with a large glass of water.

How do you get Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

One of the main causes of getting PID is usually caused by a bacterial infection, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, but what else can cause you to get it?

Also, they say it can cause infertility, how likely is this? I've had PID once and took the medication to get rid of it, but they never told me how I got it, I am sexually active but neither my partner or I have any STD's.
----------

Yes the majority cause is either by Chlamydia, or Neisseria both of which are STDs.

If you are absolutely sure that neither you or your partner has had an STD then there is the 10% of PID being caused by other viral, parasitic, or bacterial infections(usually from the normal flora).

Yes, it can cause infertility. This is caused by scar tissue from the infection called adhesions. These adhesions will disrupt the normal pathway that the egg, sperm, or zygote would take to get to the uterus, or prevent the egg from leaving the ovary.

The only way to tell is to have your OB-GYN doctor to do examinations when your ready for kids...when you get older.  (+ info)

Anyone know of or had a Pelvic Infection?

Hello,

Just wondering if the following has ever happened to anyone or any info would help.

I've been going to my doctor for a couple of months and keep being diagnosed with the same problem 'urine infection' this is then sent off to the hospital for a further testing. In the meaning time I receive antibiotics, however when the results come back from the hospital they always come back negative!!

Then thursday of last week I went with the same problem but this time got an internal examination, which the doctor then said she suspected a pelvic infection. I again got more antibiotics but this time two doses. Also this time I have had much more pain which have led to me receiving two types of strong painkillers. I am now waiting on the results from this examination.

Any info or advise would be great.

Thanks
----------

Yes ive had one once before and OMG was it painfull. The only thing i can suggest is take it easy, hot water bottle can help, finish ALL of your antibiotics and take your pain pills before the pain gets really bad or every 4 hours. Oh and these infections both pelvic and urinary can be caused due to sex. So be sure to stay clean down there and pee immediately after you do the deed. Hope you start to feel better soon.  (+ info)
