i just had surgery for hetertopic ossification on my knee, i have 30% range of motion. i want 90%?

everytime i try to bend further i have extreme pain, What can i do or what product can i use to force my knee to bend further?
----------

Do not force your knee any further than it wants to go. The best you can do is to keep up with your physical therapy and keep trying. If you experience pain, then take Tylenol or aspirin within 15 - 30 minutes prior to therapy, then put ice on your knee after working it. As your knee continues to heal over time, it will gradually get stronger and your range of motion will increase with ease.  (+ info)

endochondral ossification

I have two statements that seem wrong to me but one of them is supposed to be right.

1. during endochondral ossification, chondrocytes differentiate into osteoblasts and begin to deposit bone

2. when serum Ca levels are high, parathyroid hormone stimulates the osteoblasts.

Any help would be appreciated.
----------

This looks correct

1. during endochondral ossification, chondrocytes differentiate into osteoblasts and begin to deposit bone

Ossification or Bone?

Do the epiphyseal plates of an endochondral bone harden after primary ossification or secondary ossification?
oops...Ossification of Bone
----------

Secondary ossification is when the amount of cartilage cells in the epiphyseal plate slows and eventually stops. This is when we see the closure of the epiphysis leading to the hardening of the epiphyseal plate.

Sooooooo....secondary ossification.

Hetertropic Ossification?

Yes,
I fell off of the 4th story building last Nov.I shattered alot of bones, specifically my hip.A couple of months later I developed hetertropic ossification in between my femur and hip socket.I went back in hospital and had it removed. They took out 16oz. of bone and gave me a dose of radiation. Now I went back to Drs. in 6 wks. and saw little if any regrowth of this. Now I went back to Drs. August21.The ossification has worsend and the growth is back getting larger.I'm afraid they are going to have to operate again!! I need to know after all of what has been done(5 surgerys) is the fear of going back in for surgery a likely hood or not? Please Drs.,nurses reply, It's been 8 months now in the hospital and NHC for rehab.,I don't Know if I can take this!!How will my body be a 6th operation in 8 monthes? Caring people reply.

You poor Dear Soul you have really had a bad time of it. I think your Dr's are the only one that can answer this for you. Maybe you should get a second opinion from the Dr's. You are lucky to be alive. God Bless and Good Luck!  (+ info)

Is is true that I will grow to be shorter if I lift weights when I'm young?

My brothers always told me that if I lift weights while I'm still growing, I will not grow to be as tall as I potentially could.

If this is true, does it mean that lifting weights somehow disrupt ossification of the bones?
----------

Not really. However, you need to stretch a lot. I go to a doctor who specializes in stretching. After running on the pitch for a long time, my left leg settles into my hip joint. This causes my left leg to shorten, my entire height to shorten and causes back pain. After 30 minutes of stretching, the left leg returns to normal length.

Drink lots of water, some milk each day, take a vitamin and do a well rounded work-out.  (+ info)

2 years ago, I had a hip replacement. Now there is ossification. From surgery or fall I had later?

I think is it something that just occurs sometime following total joint replacement. Ossification is the process of bone formation, in which connective tissues, such as cartilage are turned to bone or bone-like tissue. I don't think you did anything to cause it. It just happens sometimes.  (+ info)

Can/Shall I Sue My Surgeon ? I now have Ectopic Ossification after my Hip Operation?

Hello everyone, Im only 21 -Football.
Basically last year i had 2 HIP operations, firstly my left hip then 2/3 months later my right hip.
What was done: Re-shaped my hip bone/BALL joint as it was out of shape, which was causing me groin pains. And also fixed my torn cartilage which holds the ball joint. Right.....

After having my operation and recovering.... after having weekly treatment to get me back on my feet to carry on playing football, i didnt feel near 100%... i started to feel a weird sharp pain my right hip when i moved it in a certain way.... it feels like a very very sharp pinch in the groin/hip area.....

So we had further MRI/CT scans to see what could be the problem...... well i wasn’t wrong in what i was feeling, the surgeon says the name of what’s happened is: ectopic ossification, where calcium forms in the muscle.. As im aware before my operation he did not tell me there was a % of this happening ? or am i wrong ?

Either way, i dont know what to do, its very painful and im dreading another operation.... is it worth trying to sue him ? Im not one to sue as he was very kind and only tried to help.... but this is my body... and its always on my mind and stopping me from doing what i love and stopping me from pursuing my career as a footballer.

Thank You !
