How often to people survive brain tumors?

I just found out my aunt has a brain tumor today. It's very unreal to me. The only thing I know about brain tumors is the 11 year old boy from 6th grade that died that year from a brain tumor.
sorry do* not to
I can't give you more information because I wasn't told much. All I know is she is going into surgery next week to try and have it removed.
----------

People survive brain tumors more than you probably are aware. There are different types of brain tumors so it is important to know which type your Aunt has. There is treatment for most types of brain tumor and success will depend upon your Aunts overall health, location of tumor, type of tumor, and her response to treatment.

I know many people who have had primary brain tumors and people who have had secondary brain tumors. At the moment I've seen some brain tumors being treated with Temodar (chemotherapy that crosses the blood/brain barrier), I've seen patients operated on to have the tumor removed, and I know a young lady who just underwent a Gamma Knife surgery to remove 9 lesions from her brain.

Please keep in mind that people do survive brain tumors . . one of the more famous cases would be Lance Armstrong. He was diagnosed and treated successfully ten years ago with testicular cancer. He was a stage IV with metastasis to the lung and brain. He underwent surgery to remove three tumors from his brain. He continued competive bicyling and went on to win the Tour de France seven times.

Does any one know how to reduce or eliminate fatty tumors?

I have been told I have fatty tumors. I would like to know if there is a way to dessolve them using natural remedies.
----------

Hi Billie W, it's named Lipomas are benign fatty tumors usually located in subcutaneous tissues.
Surgical excision is the most typical form of lipoma treatment, but other forms of therapy, including steroid injections and liposuction, are becoming increasingly common. Nevertheless, surgery is still considered the best way to completely cure a lipoma.
Thuja occidentalis Arbor Vitae is proposed by the homeopaths for fat deposition as well as many conditions when the body seems to be producing excessive tissues (warts, fibroma, lipoma).

What are the best drugs for metastatic brain tumors?

What are the best drugs for metastatic brain tumors? Also am I able to obtain prescription drugs from Canada(I'm in the US)
I understand, but do you know of any drugs that are known to just help the pain? My grandfather lives in a poor country in Eastern Europe, and he is very skeptical of any doctor. I just thought that I might be able to purchase some better drugs from the US, or Canada then what he can get there (Although I'm sure he will be able to obtain the right drugs if only he went to a doctor) Any other suggestions? Thanks.
Thank you, I will look into those. Anymore suggestions? Thank you.

Temodar is a possible option but you need direction from an oncologist, not Yahoo answers.

How beneficial is IMRT compared to conventional radiotherapy for brain tumors?

Some doctors say that for big tumors, IMRT is not as beneficial compared to conventional radiotherapy
----------

What kind of brain tumor is it?

There is another kind of radiation called proton (as opposed to traditional Photon beam) that can in some cases be more beneficial as it can be better directed to minimize the ancillary damage of the fields to healthy tissue like the thyoid gland and cochlear area - hearing, while maximizing the impact on the cancerous tissues.

There are a few places in the world that do it presently.

Do spices or accupuncture work in the case of parasitic brain tumors?

or is there a cure for brain tumors? please elaborate.
----------

if its from parasites, its likely from tapeworm cysts.
the medication from a pharmacy will work best, not spices.
some of these cysts can grow large and must be removed surgically.
people who eat undercooked meat(especially pork) can get tapeworm or people who work with the animals.
some of the tapeworm cysts end up in the lung or liver spleen or even the brain.
check on google or yahoo:hydatid cyst  (+ info)

I have been told that I may have fibroid tumors but I don't exactly know what they are. I know that it is connected to my menstrual cycle. When I get my period, I have excruciating cramps and discomfort. I throw up excessively and I tend to pass out. However, I am only 17 years old. Any suggestions?

What to ask Doctors about secondary brain tumors, from melomonia cancer?

Nephew 28, has had 2 surgury for melamonia under rt arm. Now 2 tumors in right brain. They are to operate Tuesday but said when come back will answer questions. Family not sure what to ask.
----------

If he has brain mets it has obviously spread far. You need to ask what you want to know. It’s impossible for us to know what that is. His oncologist is the doctor who will give you the best information. Since removing brain mets rarely prolongs life I would want to know the risks of the surgery. Of course, weighing those risks against the potential benefits is a judgment call only your nephew can make.  (+ info)

My brother takes Lyrica and the key for him was finding the correct dose. Too much made him 'dopey' and of course too little allowed a lot of pain.
Ask the doctor to keep adjusting the dose until it's just right.  (+ info)
