What kind of sunglasses should I wear to protect my eyes?

I recently had eye surgery to remove a nevus (brown spot) from the white of my eye. I was wondering what kind of sunglasses I should wear in order to protect my eyes when outside?
----------

You could wear solar Shields they are a large wrap-around Type of sunglasses with good UV protection. Even long after Your surgery I would stay away from sunglasses with out some sort of side protection like aviators stick to a sport sunglasses. Even the cheap sunglasses have good UV lens protection. Just be sure they have wider side arms.  (+ info)

what do you think of giant congeneral nevus's?

i have has one sence i was a baby, it covers my back, an stomack an my upper left arm.
iv gotten alot of people who make fun of me but my parents always say someone will find me who loves me with this and not care.. but iv gotten a lot of guys who stay away from me because they think im so distusting.. it really makes me feel ugly..
----------

Although it is frustrating now, your parents are right. You don't say how old you are. And I don't know if your nevus is flat or raised.

Perhaps you can look into make up for the discoloration on your arm.

Advances are made in medicine all of the time. Ask your mom to get an appointment with a plastic surgeon. Just for a consultation to see if there is anything out there to reduce the appearance. Let them know that there is nothing wrong with checking. Education is power! And it will give you peace of mind.

The people who accept you for who you are, are the friends and boys that you should concentrate on. Anyone who would laugh at you or make fun of you is not worthy of your attention or affection. Trust me when I tell you that when you get a little older you will run into boys who are more mature and will accept your condition. However, be prepared to educate your peers about your condition. Let them know that it's not contagious - which is what most young people would be worried about. It is their ignorance that makes them treat you the way they do.

Be patient. Embrace everything about you! Don't let the one condition define who you are! It's not easy but you will persevere.  (+ info)

Question about Blue Nevus.....I have one on my neck, have had it for years, now it hurts.?

It does hurt from time to time, but this time I picked at it and it started to drain puss, like a pimple. I know, it's gross, but....is it cancerous? I have an appt with a dermatologist next month. Should I worry? Should I have the appointment moved closer? The mole is a blue nevus and has been under my skin for many years.
----------

Blue Nevi are never cancerous. You probably got it infected by picking on it. Wash with soap and water, apply antibiotic ointment and make sure and see your dermatologist for confirmation that all is ok - and quit picking at this or any other mole.

Linear Sebaceous Nevus?

My 12 week old boy has been diagnosed with having a Linear Sebaceous Nevus does anyone know anything about this???
----------

In common terms, Nevus means a birthmark or mole. They are generally benign but few have a malignant (cancerous) potential. It depends on type, location, size and other morphological features of the mole. Discuss this part with a dermatologist or pediatrician.

Sebaceous nevus is a very rare are type of epidermal nevus usually present in scalp region as a hairless area.
It is sometimes treated prophylactically with aminolevulinic acid (has been reported to have good success rate).

It may be associated with other birth anomalies. The baby will require a neurological & orthopedic consult in my opinion.  (+ info)

I have had a spider nevus for 8 years under my right eye (my right, not yours.) I have been researching them and they are supposed to go away in between one to three years. Am I correct? Why isn't mine going away. Also, I don't know if this would help, but I am 13 right now. I got the spider nevus when I was 5.
----------

You could have it way.. longer But I should go away sometime any who thought some people have had it almost there whole life.  (+ info)

Can you get rid of this birth mark?! (becker's nevus)?

I have a HUGE Becker's nevus on my hip. It covers about the middle of my leg, half of my buttock, and about two inches above my waistline...

My boxers cover it up, but I'm afraid girls are going to be freaked out if we have sex...

I have to pull my boxers up in order to hide the top of it...can you get rid of this kind of birthmark???
i also wanted to know if anyone managed to get rid of most if it and how
----------

As Becker's nevus is considered a benign lesion, treatment is generally not necessary except for cosmetic purposes. Shaving or trimming can be effective in removing unwanted hair, while laser hair removal may offer a longer-lasting solution. Different types of laser treatments may also be effective in elimination or reduction of hyperpigmentation, though the results of laser treatments for both hair and pigment reduction appear to be highly variable.  (+ info)
