Nasal Polyps?

my son has problems with nasal polyps and has had surgery five times since the age of six to remove them. Does anyone have any ideas that can help besides the saltwater mixture
----------

Drugs and surgery do not remove causes. Change his diet to a nutrient dense diet. Please read Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book, "Disease-Proof Your Child" - I've interviewed Dr. Fuhrman almost a dozen times and I can personally guarantee you that you will find the answer in his book. I also highly recommend reading his other book, "Eat To Live" - it is the most scientifically referenced health book ever written...there are more than 1500 medical references.  (+ info)

nasal polyps?

if someone has their nasal polyp removed and a few days after the operation thier nose is still bleeding, what are the risks of this and how can it be cured?
----------

Check with the doctor's office. There is often some oozing after the surgery and dressing changes for a day or two but there should not be a lot of blood.

Call the Drs. office to see what's expected. Sometimes the day after a surgery the docs. office will call the patient to check up, but not always.  (+ info)

NasaL POLYPS?

what can i do to treat polyps
ive had surgey theyve returned is there anything natural i can use
----------

If they R bothering you, try a cup of english hot tea. (tetley is my favorite). In theory, it should relax the nerves of your entire body, one way or another, it will not bother you as much, Smelling steam might help too, but i would say hot tea as the best choice because it has anti-oxidents.

All this is in theory remember.  (+ info)

Nasal polyps.?

What are they exactly? Can someone who has had them explain to me what it feels like?

I think I may have it in my ethmoidal sinuses. However, when I went to the doctor, she could not find anything wrong and sent me home. I've had it since Feburary and went to the doctor I guess around April. Now that it is August and I still have it... well. It's just annoying and painful and obstructs my breathing.

I also think I may have a deviated septum but I think it is unlikely.

Basically, what I feel is 'sharp' air; air that hits the back/top of my throat without feeling... 'filtered', for lack of better words. It dries out my throat and makes it painful. And it switches sides depending what side I'm sleeping on; it also gets worse in one nostril during random times of the day.
----------

A nasal polyp is a nonmalignant tumor, or in simpler terms, an abnormal growth of tissue that is not cancerous. I also have a nasal polyp. My symptoms are chronic congestion (I can usually never breathe out either nostril). Nasal polyps can go undiagnosed because they are confused with inflamed sinuses. As you mentioned, they can obstruct breathing because they are masses of tissue. You may also have numerous polyps, which can cause serious respiratory issues. If this is the case, you might need them removed. This can be done in two ways: Surgically or by the use of prescription steroids. Nasal medicines such as Flonase are steroids that may reduce the size of a polyp, however these steroids can never get rid of the polyp, and there is always the chance of the polyp growing back. This action should be taken for mild cases. I would highly suggest getting a CAT/CT scan to see the severity of your nasal polyps. Mine revealed that I had more serious problems with my sinuses. Polyps are usually connected with many other issues, such as asthma, allergies, inflammation with sinuses, etc. If you have frequent sinus infections, I HIGHLY SUGGEST that you find a doctor who takes your symptoms more seriously. From the problems you described, it could be something more serious. Remember, polyps aren't necessarily that dangerous, but they may hint at something more. Good luck.  (+ info)

Can nasal polyps cause damage to nasal tissue?

Hello,
I was wondering if nasal polyps or chronic sinusitis can cause damage to nasal tissue that could cause the nose to not work properly. Such as lack of filtering, not humidifying the air corretcly, ect.
----------

Please don't worry about it. Your nose will work fine for many years.  (+ info)

Is there a natural way(no surgery) to shrink nasal polyps?

I have had three operations for nasal polyps and they are back again. The ENT is reluctant to operate once more. Can Caster Oil shrink polyps? I have frequent sinus infections and I am at a loss as to what to do.
----------

my aunt has the same condition and so does my cousin, and both of them had to get surgery. They tried the various remedies but nothing seemed to work. For them the surgery is what ended the polyps.  (+ info)

Can nasal polyps completely block my nose?

My doc said I have Nasal polyps. I feel like they completely block my nasal passage so that I can't even breathe thru my nose at all.

I can't see why they couldn't if they were big enough.   (+ info)

I have nasal polyps, and have had multiple surgeries, what do I do?

Prednisone only helps for like two weeks. I have had two polypectomys within months of each other, polyps return after only a month or two. Also I had Image Guided Sinus Surgery, which that was done in march and polyps are already back. I get allergy shots, take singulair, nasonex, astelin, zyrtec, and gentamicin nasal irrigation. I do not want to go under another surgery. What else can I do?
----------

Cut off your nose to spite your face.

Seriously, though. What else are you supposed to do? If there was another way, then the doctors would have told you. It's not like they enjoy doing surgery up your nose.

Is it possible that you are overmedicating yourself and that is irritating them, rather than helping?  (+ info)
