is this a pulled groin muscle or a cramp?
I was in basketball running while i got this bad pull. I started limping and still running. When i got out of basketball I couldn't lift my leg to get my gym shorts off so I wore my bad gym shorts all day long. When I got to my house I tried to sit down and it was still hurting there was no stopping this pain. Its now the next day and iced the muscle and rested it. (stupid question) how did i do this?
Its a pulled groin muscle. You must have stretched it too much when you ran which pulled it. Just rest and ice it and it will get better. (+ info
I have a Muscle cramp small comes and goes at the base of my sternum?
I don't feel any pain when I run three miles on the treadmill but it is when I am at rest and I exhale now and then.
Muscle cramp can be caused by a lack of salt in the body, try drinking a large glass of water with a teaspoon of salt in it. It tastes horrible but I have found that it helps relieve cramp. (+ info
What causes the slight muscle twitch or cramp when we're pushing hard?
Do you guys notice when we're trying to use hard force or put great effort, sometimes your muscles involuntarily twitch. It looks like your arm is in vibration. Why is that?
Golgi Tendon Organ
"A small sensory receptor, located at the junction between a muscle and tendon, that monitors tension. Each Golgi tendon organ consists of small bundles of tendon fibres enclosed in a layered capsule with dendrites (fine branches of neurones) coiling between and around the fibres. The organ is activated by muscular contractions that stretch the tendons. This results in an inhibition of alpha motor neurones (special neurones that innervate the contractile elements of striated muscle), causing the contracting muscle to relax, thereby protecting the muscle and connective tissue from excessive loading." why and how do we get muscle cramp?
can sombody explain in detailed (smart) way what causes us to cramp up. And what is the best way to stop it.
one reason is buildupof lactic acid that can occur after strenuous exercise, another reason is lack of potassium in your system, and a third reason is dehydration. Frequent hydration during exercise helps with lactic acid, and the dehydration parts, bananas, molasses, raisins, oranges (OJ), sweet/white potatoes, etc. helps with the potassium problem. If it is a constant problem see your doctor, you may need supplements. One way to stop a cramp that is evolving is to stretch that muscle. The muscle is self-contracting causing the cramp and the pain, by stretching the muscle out counteracts the contraction helping to ease the cramp (+ info

I am in shape and have never had my calf cramp. I do drink water, eat bananas. I did start taking calcium pills because i do not really drink enough milk. any ides?
the cramps are due to the calcium .
if you took for long time relax for sometime.
the calcium should be in this form
Calcium + magnesium + Vitamin D > as a minimum. maybe plus other bone minerals.
all can come in one tablet.
vitamin D intake should be between 400 to 2000 IU. so u need to take extra tablet of vitamin D or D3.

Could a cramp strengthen the muscle?
Basically, the muscle is just flexing uncontrollably during a cramp right? If that's the case, wouldn't that be just like a sort of automated workout for that particular muscle?
So, you're saying the fact that the muscle doesn't flex and relax is the reason it wouldn't have that effect?
No.. a cramp is the muscles tightening and not loosening. (+ info
What muscle to contract if you have gastrocnemius cramp?
The best thing I found was to keep your leg off of the ground and stretch your foot like you were standing on your tiptoes. I used to get horrible cramps in my calves and after alot of pain and experimenting found this to usually work.
PS. slowly let out of the flex to see if the muscle is still cramping. (+ info
