i have custody of my child, the mother has munchausen syndrome by proxy!!!!how do i get her to leave me alone?

she was labeled by court doctors the reports were $15,000 and she still fights to get custody and she gets free lawyers!!!! how can i stop her????
----------

If she were officially labeled then child services would already be involved for the safety of the child. this illness is not extremely common but is very dangerous. If you suspect she is harming your child you need to go to the local police and make reports.  (+ info)

Could this be Munchausen Syndrome?

I am wondering if a friend of mine has Munchausen's based on some of these "symptoms"?

- He brings up a brother who committed suicide two years ago very often... but in all of his family pictures there is nobody who could possibly be his brother, and he has told different people different stories about how his brother died

- He says he attempted suicide and went to a psychiatric ward last year, and brought it up right when one of his friends attempted suicide and may have had to go to a psychiatric ward

- He has had an aids and herpes "scare" and says he takes medication for having an unstable mind

- He fabricates stories often and fights for attention and sympathy

- His older sister is legitimately insane and has several disorders.

He's 15 years old, I don't know if that makes a difference...

and if it really sounds like Munchausen Syndrome, what do we do? please help!
----------

It sound like the whole family had or has mental problems. Only a professional can made a call like Munchhausen's Disease. Unless the family wants help no one from the outside can intervene. Perhaps you can talk to a family member who is responsible for the other's welfare. Good luck.  (+ info)

What is this disorder called "Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy"? Who is the victim? Is this really a mental disorder or a criminal act?
----------

The child would probably be considered the victim and if the child is physically or mentally harmed, it may be both a mental illness and a criminal act.   (+ info)

What causes Munchausen Syndrome?

Baron Hieronymus Karl Friedrich Von MUNCHAUSEN was a German officer who fought against the Turks and returned te tell lengthy stories that were recorded in book form . He died in 1797.

It is the name given to a patient who is a psychopathic malingerer and exists in 3 types 1. The abdominal type ,2. the bleeding type 3. the type specialising in faints, fits and palsies.

Often the patient travels through long distances to go to a hospital to avoid one in his vicinity......thus staying unknown to the doctor. His symptoms are usually out of proportion with the clinical signs.

Munchausen syndrome or something else...?

I have a friend of many years who constantly fakes illnesses for attention, I've known him since high school. He once faked that he had a brain tumor just to see how I'd react to him telling me so. At school he faked he was hit by a car to get out of class early, and would request I help him carry his books to the next class, though he told me he was lying the whole time, he just came to school with his arm in a sling and used a cane to fool the school administrators. He also used to fake like he was choking and play dead off and on. Years later he told me he was gay, which actually turned out to be true but you could imagine I thought he did so to gauge my reaction. Years after that he told me he had cancer but I'm pretty sure he did it because he became bulimic and said he undergoing chemotherapy to explain his rapid weight loss, he still thinks I believe him after all these years that he has or had cancer. Now his new lie is that he has heart problems, he constantly pretends to have heart attacks and passes out, and then just gets up like nothing happens. Also when he drinks he often pretends to be drunker than he is and often passes out on sidewalks and makes me wait with him forever or makes me carry him everywhere. He's even said he's attempted suicide on some occasions.

So I Goggle'd "fake illness for attention" and found people talking about Munchausen syndrome. I feel this very much resembles him because he fakes illness for attention, but unlike how Munchausen is described, the description I read about says people with Munchausen sydrome actually harm themselves so they get attention from doctors and nurses and whatnot, but never read about what people do to gain attention from people in their social circles. In all this, he's never actually done anything to hurt himself to see doctor's, just faked symptoms to his friends for attention.

Anyhow, I'd like to read up more on what he probably is doing, Munchausen syndrome looked like it might be what is effecting him psychologically, but if this sounds like something else then please point me in the right direction.

I also think it's Munchausen because he often feels unappreciated, do a big degree. I mean, just the other day I he found out I recommended a good movie to my brother to watch and he says "did you make sure you told him I was the one that told you about that movie". He constantly reminds his friends that are about to get married how he's responsible for hooking them up. He lacks any modest perspective about his role in the lives of those around him. I only mention it because I think he does the things he does for attention, because I think he doesn't feel he gets enough of it.
----------

I really don't think Munchhausen disease is the problem. I really feel he needs constant attention. He needs mental help for sure or a really big reality check. He is definetely craving for attention; either positive or negative. Tell him to stop or no longer put up with his bullcrap. You have put up with it long enough. You also sound like you are a care taker and he knows it so he plays on it.
Good luck.  (+ info)

Do I have Munchausen Syndrome?

I know this may cause alot of negative replies but I want to ask it anyway. I think that I may have munchausen syndrome and I was wondering what you personally think.

So basically I like being sick. I'm one who actually like being in the ER and at the doctor. I like having people concerned about me. It sounds twisted, I know. I fake symptoms of mental and physical disorders. Like Multiple Personalities and Bipolar. I also will fake abdominal pain to go to the ER. I will complain of severe chest pains as well. One thing that I sometimes do is overdose to produce physical symptoms.

Does this sound like munchausen syndrome? What do I do?
No I'm not faking this now.

Thank you for the responses. I already have a psychiatrist but he has no idea that this is going on.
