When getting a maxillary frenectomy do you get put to sleep?

Usually not. It's actually a very simple procedure, but if done with a laser, you have less post-op pain in recovery. If they don't use a laser, it may be more tender, as it will take longer to heal.

Some offices offer valium/Halcion, etc to "Take the edge off" but people usually aren't sedated as you are with removing wisdom teeth.  (+ info)

Should I have my maxillary cuspids removed?

I am 23 with a very over crowded mouth. Besides having no space between any teeth my cuspids eruped very high up and the tips of them over lap the tops of my bi-cuspids and my lateral incisors which have no gap between them. My dentisit wants to surgicaly remove them. I would like to have them removed but I've always been told they can't because of the roots. I'm just looking for some advice.
No other dentists. I would like to get a second opinion but it took me ages to get this dentist.

It's true that the canines have long, solid roots, and are usually pretty important in guiding your bite and in sensory perception. I haven't seen your case so I don't know what things your dentist has probably considered...But you should ask him (or her) why he wants to remove the canines and what the other options are (even if that turns out to be the best one in the end.) Often either the first or second premolars are taken out instead, followed by orthodontic treatment to bring the rest of the teeth into their proper places.

i have mucosal thickening in the right maxillary sinus what does this mean?

This showed up on my MRI.

You should direct that question at the doctor who ordered it. They are the only one who can tell you what it means to you.

I did a CT of the paranasal sinuses recently. the resuts states "Severe Maxillary sinusitis with a mucocele ?

int he left Antrum" My ENT is suggesting surgery. Do you think this is necessary.
----------

Right - so a trained professional is telling you to get a surgery. You feel a bit apprehensive and want to know from a bunch of people on the internet - that you don't know - whether he's right??
Well someone who could really tell wether or not surgery is neccessary would NEVER tell you ANYTHING without examining you or your results.
So the only people who'd answer are wackos who believe that if you and you're mother pray a little the disease is just going to disappear - I can tell you so much - that ain't gonna work.  (+ info)

I have a pulse-like buzzing in right ears and right maxillary sinus pain?

It kind of hurts.... and the buzzing and maxillary sinus pain (reflected pain in the back of my eyes and top jaw) but only on the right side of my face. I notice the buzzing a lot when my blood pressure changes and its been going on for 2 years or so.

More recently I've had a shooting weird feeling from my tooth down my neck. That might not be related though.... But again its on my right side.

But they tell me its just tinnitus. Should I just take their word for it?

I have Eustachian tubes which close and 'pop' all of the time. It's been all my life. I clean the middle and inner sinuses passages with salt sollution. When I hold my nose and open my ears, I can even hear and smell better.

Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too.

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for “what” and “how” – there’s also some good info on wiki)  (+ info)
