lordosis refers to the natural curvature of the spine, your neck vertebra no longer have the natural curve, this means that the bones of your neck are pressing in areas that are not normal and thus you have pain.  (+ info)

What causes the reversal of cervical lordosis and what cure is available?

I had pain in back under neck for few days. Ortho doc has diagnosed thru x-ray that reversal of cervical lordosis has occured at C 5-6.
----------

possible causes:

Wear and tear of the joints that accompanies aging, a condition called osteoarthritis.

Inflammation of the joint.

Injuries such as automobile accidents, athletic injuries, sudden jerks on the arms, falls.

The goal of treatment is to relieve pain and prevent permanent spinal cord injury. Specific head movements may cause some pain and discomfort, for which painkillers may be given. Exercises to strengthen the neck muscles may be suggested. A cervical collar may be used to restrict neck movements and reduce pain. In some cases, neck traction may also be suggested in addition to the cervical collar.

Surgical decompression of the spinal cord in the neck may be required in severe cases if there is loss of movement, sensation or function.  (+ info)

How do you know if you have excessive lordosis? Are there any treatments to make it less noticeable?

I seem to have like a really curved back. If you also have scoliosis, is it any more or less likely you have excessive lordosis? If I think I have it should I go see my back doctor again or something? And if you have it is there something they do to fix your back so it's less curved or anything?

i have minor cases of both. does anyone else have this? its not bad, i know its just the way my spine is shaped. Is it common for people to have this?
----------

everyone has it, its just the way our spine is shaped, it curves outward on top (kyphosis) and inward on the bottom (lordosis). the problem is when our spine curves too much in either direction  (+ info)

Can a rear-end accident cause loss of lumbar lordosis?

Also what are the symptoms of loss of lordosis?
----------

No, it's a natural occuring condition.

Certain disease processes can adversely affect the structural integrity of the spine and contribute to lordosis. Some common causes include discitis, kyphosis, obesity, osteoporosis, and spondylolisthesis.

*Discitis is inflammation of intervertebral disc space.

*Kyphosis (eg 'humpback') may force the low back to compensate for the imbalance created by a curve occurring at a higher level of the spine.

*Obesity may cause some overweight people to lean backward to improve balance. This has a negative impact on posture.

*Osteoporosis is a bone density disease that may cause vertebrae to loose strength, compromising the spine's structural integrity.

*Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra slips forward in relation an adjacent one, usually in the lumbar spine.

Not every lordosis requires medical treatment. However, when the curve is rigid (fixed), medical evaluation is warranted.  (+ info)

How do you correct lordosis, or hyperlordosis?

I sit down a lot, and I think i have a problem with over-curviture of my spine. Do I need to go to the doctor's, or is there some way to cure this at home?
I've been trying to work on posture, but I can't stand up straight. I lose balance, strangely.
----------

it is caused by muscle weakness, you need to strenghten your back muscles. i had to go to rehab to help with the pain in the spine. it didn't make it the curve go away, but i am old. if you are still young, doing the exercises might help with the curve.  (+ info)

Does anyone know about the condition Lordosis?

I was diagnoses with Lordosis last year. Congenital most likely. There really is not a lot of information on the web about this. I have several other problems but basically I am in severe pain everyday. I am just looking for more information about this. I am sick of not being able to do anything and want to explore my treatment options.
