What are the harms of Leukorrhea. What is it ?

What is it and why do some women have almost all the time besides during menstration? Are there any treatments or cures?
----------

Leukorrhea (US) or leukorrhoea (Commonwealth) is a medical term that denotes a thick, whitish vaginal discharge. It results from inflammation or congestion of the vaginal mucosa. In case it is yellowish or gives off an odour, it ceases to be healthy and a doctor should be consulted.

Leukorrhea is a sign that the vagina is healthy and keeping clean. It may sometimes occur before a girl has her first period, and is considered a sign of puberty.

There are many causes of leukorrhea, the usual one being increased estrogen. The amount of discharge may increase due to vaginal infection or STDs, in which case it becomes more yellow and foul-smelling. Vaginal discharge is normal for a woman, and all women are different. Causes of change in discharge include infection, malignancy, and hormonal changes.

Leukorrhea may occur normally during pregnancy. This is caused by increased bloodflow to the vagina due to increased estrogen. Female infants may have leukorrhea for a short time after birth due to their in-uterine exposure to estrogen.

Its usually a non-pathological symptom secondary to inflammatory conditions of Vagina or cervix.  (+ info)

Could leukorrhea be a sign im having a girl?

My sister in law had this when she was pregnant with my niece but not with my nephew. So i was wondering since this is my first pregnancy could i be having a girl? Im only 13 weeks...
i know only an ultrasound or waiting til its born can tell you for sure what you having, i just was wondering if that was one of those little secret signs. like some people say that when you are having a boy you grow more facial hair.
----------

the only way that you can tell the gender of baby is ultrasound and sometime that can be wrong.  (+ info)

What are the components of Leukorrhea?

What are the components of Leukorrhea?

Vaginal secretions or Uterine secretions or Both???
If both than what percent each?

Does Leukorrhea always have Uterine secretions?
If so than is there any days or circumstances when Leukorrea have no Uterine secretions?
----------

Leukorrhea secretions are vaginal secretions and are caused by inflammation or congestion of the vaginal mucosa. Leukorrhea and Uterine secretions are not the same thing. Leukorrhea is a sign of a clean vagina. If it becomes yellow, or foul smelling, then you need to see a doctor to get checked out.  (+ info)

Is this a normal Leukorrhea discharge?

After having my first period, I started to have some whitish lecukorrhea discharge once a while. Is this normal? Why do I have it?
----------

Yes, it's normal.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear mucous discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don't ever want it to go away. It is what makes sex possible.

This normal discharge will also continue after you get your period. Some girls do produce more discharge than others. You can wear a pantyliner if it bothers you.

Your normal white/clear discharge will turn yellow or dry yellow when exposed to air. If it is coming out yellow, then you probably have a bacterial infection and need to see a doctor.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle.  (+ info)

Im 15 weeks preggo and have been experiencing wet underwear from time to time! TMI? IS this leukorrhea?

There is no blood or unusual cramping. And it isnt a constant but its not discharge like- more like I peed my pants a little! haha!
Any advice? Should I be concerned?
----------

it could happen from the baby kicking by your bladder. Even if it is too early to feel it, a tiny little kick could cause some to come out  (+ info)

What EXACTLY does leukorrhea (Early pregnancy discharge) look like? ... ?

What EXACTLY does leukorrhea (Early pregnancy discharge) look like? ...
Colour?
Thick or runny?
----------

It can be clear to whitish in colour and is usually pretty runny.

Honestly, with my first pregnancy I was constantly freaking out thinking that I was leaking amniotic fluid because it was so runny and was coming out ALL the time!

Discharge in pregnancy varies so much. I go from the runny whitish stuff to sometimes having a clear mucousy discharge (even can come out in clumps at times) and I've always been told that it's normal.

Basically, unless you're having an odd colour discharge (like green, brown, pink) you don't need to worry. If you are concerned though, I always believe in asking your doctor. It never hurts to check!  (+ info)

leukorrhea? (milk white cervical mucus) when did you get it?

hi everyone

can someone tell me how early they got leukorrhea in their pregnancy? leukorrhea is the milk white lotion type of cervical mucus.

the reason i ask is because.. since the day i ovulated.. i have been getting milk white.. kinda wet and watery cervical mucus.
and its constant.. ive had it everyday since i ovulated..

is this a good sign? did anyone get it everyday and ended up pregnant?
----------

From the very beginning to the very end! Probably around ovulation as well. Some women get it so much they have to wear panty liners or change panties a few times a day. Very normal, albeit yucky, part of pregnancy.  (+ info)
