I have laryngitis but i need to sing?

I have laryngitis and my talking voice is either hoarse or comes out squeaky. For choir we are singing at graduation and sometimes i can sing over the squeaky notes but it doesn't sound good. I still have two weeks but i need time to practice, anyway that i can help cure my voice so that it can go back to normal?
----------

well, I think you should just rest your voice, maybe drink some soft drinks, it could help, but If you singing isn't good bye the time your thing comes up, I don't think you should sing, not couz you would sound bad, but because it could take more time for it to go away  (+ info)

How do I get my voice back quickly after laryngitis?

I have swollen glands and have been losing my voice a lot.
I have had a croaky voice and often find I can't hit high notes
properly. I have been doing a lot of singing lately and I have a show in 2 weeks. Is there anyway to guarantee my voice is okay on the show?
----------

I find lots of water, rest and keeping my throat warm (either with a scarf or having hot showers) helps.
There's no way to guarantee it will be ok though as it's up to your body. Just don't push it and rush back. You need to be fully better before you start rehearsing or you'll end up being worse off.
Oh and don't take pain killers before you sing or you won't know if you're straining your voice and be able to stop.
Really hope you get better soon!

Is it normal for your voice to come and go when you have laryngitis?

I'm pretty sure I have it. Anyway my voice will go from being audible but still not sounding like my normal voice to being almost completely inaudible, even when straining when I have to say something.
Sorry for another question but I'm curious and I'm procrastinating.

How can you cure laryngitis at home?

like what can you drink or eat? should i take a types of vitamins?
like what can you drink or eat? should i take a types of vitamins? how long does it last?
----------

Laryngitis is most commonly a self resolving viral illness which your body will fight in its own time. It usually gets worse over 2-3 days and resolves within a week sometimes taking a bit longer for the voice to become totally normal. Antibiotics dont usually help and might give adverse side effects. Important thing is to drink loads of fluids(small amounts, more frequently) even though the throat might hurt to maintain hydration to prevent tiredness. Over the counter painkillers like paractemol and ibuprofen can help with pain. Resting the voice (not singing or shouting) might help to shorten symptoms There is no evidence that use of vitamins, aspirin gargles or sprays help in any way. The bottom line is - time is the healer!  (+ info)

How can you use your voice when you have laryngitis?

Today is Friday and I can't miss work. I do a lot of my work on the phone. (Yikes.) If I can just make my voice keep working for one more day I can rest it over the weekend. Hot tea kind of helps, at least I can almost croak something out thats intelligible, but if I keep drinking this much hot tea all day I'll be floating away in a teabag by lunch. What else works?
----------

Throat drops that numb might help a little. Laryngitis generally needs to work it's course and you can't just make it go away. Try throat drops, or numbing spray, and take ibuprofen every 4 hours, and tea with honey. And, whisper. If you strain your voice you're croak, but usually I can be heard if I talk in an authoritative whisper without raising my voice.  (+ info)
