knee injuries, what exercises can I do?

I have knee injuries do to a very bad fall and I find even walking can be painful after awhile. Is there anything I can do to strengthen them? Serious advice please!
----------

I also injured my knee, it was a long time ago..let me see if I can remember what I did...um you can sit in a chair and straighten out your leg and flex it, kinda with your heel down and the toe straight up, um..I think I also did squats, lunges...really any exercises that you use the leg muscle. I would talk to your doctor and have them give you physical therapy exercises. Just remember because it is injured you don't want to push it or you'll injure it further.  (+ info)

what injuries are consistant with a hard impact to the side of the knee?

and swelling for 2 months after. what exact injury? torn acl, pcl...?
believe it or nt, i did manage to hit the inside of my knee. its a looooong storry
----------

if the impact was to the outside of the knee then the most common injury is to the MCL and medial meniscus... ACL is also a possibility(very common if the knee twisted as well)

in order to injure the PCL u usually have to have a very hard and direct blow to the knee(like if ur knee hits the dashboard in a car accident)...

the LCL is also very diffucult to injure as it requires a blow to the inside of ur knee(the LCL is also alot stronger then the MCL)

since ur knee has been swollen for 2 months i would suggest that u go to an ortho and get ur knee looked at...  (+ info)

Do lower body compressions like knee brace prevent you from injuries? If so, how do they work?

knee braces are worn for different reasons- they are supposed to be a temporary solution to help enhance the activities of the joint. they stabilize and protect the knee during activities. If you go into details-the brace/compressions kind of assumes the much needed input of the muscles sending those muscles on "vacation" thus preventing/protecting them from further injuries. On the other hand this muscles atrophies/weakens hence they become vulnerable and prone to injuries.
my advice is, you are have an injury or just joint instability wear the brace when its really necessary just to protect that joint during strenuous activities like a weekend ball game.
see a physiotherapy and get a strengthening exercise program that will bring your joint back to its normal functioning level.
also your doctor should be able to recommend the best brace depending on your injury.

Knee injuries 10 points to best answer?

Alright i skate and the back of my knee hurts like above my ankles. It feels like my bones are shattered glass. Its not brokjen i can still skate but it hurts. What do i do to fix it?
----------

You may have pulled a muscle somehow. You need to rest the affected area so that it can heal. Elevate it and use a heating pad to reduce the pain. If it is not feeling better in 3-4 days, consult a doctor.  (+ info)

Anyone who knows about knee injuries?

In 6th grade I hurt my knee now I am in 9th and it gets better then goes bad. My knee hurts on the inside sometimes and mostly the outside of the knee.Sometimes there is pain over and under the knee cap please help me figure out what it could be and what i can do.

10 Points to whoever can really help!
----------

It depends whether its during or after exercise or not
Sounds like it could be to do with your knee cartilage being as its kinda all over really
if its hurting on the inside it could have something to do with medial collateral ligament...and the outside being your lateral colateral ligament.
Or your patella tendon
or you may have arthritis or Chondromalacia or bursitis... depending on the rest of the sympstoms really
i say you google a few of those and see if your symptoms match

but the only true way you know is to get checked out at the hospital :)  (+ info)

What exercises will relieve knee pain? I destroyed my knees with injuries playing rugby.?

I have tried squats and leg press, however this seems to have exacerbated the problem. I'm in my mid twenties, any suggestions on what might help? Thanks.

what type of knee injuries do you need crutches for?

i have really hurt my knee, possible sprain, but parents will not take me to a doctor. do i need crutches, if so, i shall use this as evidence. it hurts to walk, and sitting down is even painful. today, after being pushed, it clicked, and since then a throbbing pain has been coming from the knee.
it is slightly below the knee cap.
thanks.
it is swollen. not hot though. it feels bonier, if that makes sense.
i'm not stupid, i have just ever injured myself before :)

Are Catholics prone to knee injuries?

I was wondering because I went to a service and they do a lot of kneeling and standing repeatedly.
----------

well.... when i was 26 i was diagnosed with bursitis in my knees.... the doc asked what i did for a living because he usually saw it this early only in a few types of people and Priests WERE one of those categories. i don't think injuries but chronic problems into later years.... would be a neat research topic!  (+ info)

My knee may be injured, what are the possible injuries?

So, yesterday I had a soccer game. A girl on the other team and I were racing for the ball. Once we reached the ball I reached it first and attempted to drag the ball back with my foot. But, I stepped on the ball too early while going much too fast and my knee bent way further in than it shuold have.

After, I immediately fell to the ground from the pain, but it went away a few seconds later. Therefore I got up and continued playing. My knee didn't kill but it didn't feel right but I kept playing.

Then this morning I woke up and could barely move my leg. It's stuck at about a 150 degree angle rather than the typical 180 degree angle. I can walk on the leg but with a minor limp, also sometimes when I walk the leg buckles and shooting pains go up the back of my knee.

I'm sure i probably just hyperextended it or something, but what are other possiblilties / should i seek help, and when?

It is hard to say what's going on with your knee. Did you feel or hear it pop when you hurt it? Did it give out right away? Did you have any swelling? Where was the pain? I would not have recommended playing on it if you hurt it or having problems with it. I would get it checked out by an Orthopedic Surgeon ASAP to rule out any kind of injury. and if you did do any damage to it, then you can move on from there and have it fixed throught PT or surgery and PT. Please let me know what's up with your knee. Email me at [email protected] Yulia

Good luck.
Some possible injuries may be, damage to ACL,or MCL, or LCL or Menisci.  (+ info)
