Is it possible for metabolism to stop. I mean STOP. + Head problems and others. Intracranial Hypertension?

I have felt full for the past 14 days. When I eat anything.. ANYTHING AT ALL... it hurts both my head and my stomach. I mean I ate a handful of peanuts yesterday and it felt like theres cement in my head blocking all movement. My senses are failing, as my sense of taste and smell have diminished since this all began. I have less peripheral vision and see those spots appear (the ones that appear in the shape of the object you just looked at) except they last for seconds more than they normally would.Sound seems kind of muffled. My body seems to get colder than it normally would expecially my arms and feet. I feel pressure in my head and have headaches. I feel the pressure behind my eyes sometimes and by my ears a lot. It seems like my stomach has been replaced with a jug of cold water because I have felt food sitting there for about week. Another symptom is my teeth always have that sugar/syrup feeling as thoug I just drank soda.I never read any connection between IH and metabolism stop

Intracranial Hemorrhage?

hi; I am pre- med student and preparing a presentation about Intracranial Hemorrhage. I need some recommendation about how should I organize it . As you understand the topic is quite hard for a pre-med student, I thought that may be someone can give me advice about making an outline. If I can make a draft, the rest would become easier for me.

I thought that it would be good if I start by explaining the anotomical structure of brain and the layer of meninges and later on the diseases which cause the hemorrhage and symptoms of having hemorrhage.

What should I add more and is the structure good ?

thank you very much...

is increased intracranial pressure a constent thing?

i am always feeling pressure but not always, but while that i go dizzy and loss of balance. is it a constant thing that doesn't go away or does it come and go
----------

how do you know that you have that? Symptoms of Increased Intracranial Pressure are:nausea, vomiting, dizziness, double vision. You don't feel the pressure because it's inside of the brain.if you suspect you have that go to the hospital immediately.A neurologist can check you and do an MRI.A special test to the brain.Good luck.  (+ info)

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension - i was diagnosed but I am still confused as to what it is, help?

from the words itself, idiopathic means whose origin is not known, intracranial, i am sure you know means within the skull, hypertension is high pressure. so you have a condition in which intracranial pressure is increased due to unknown reason. you may be getting or can experience blurring of vision, headaches, jerks or seizure disorders of body parts, blindness etc. you are at a risk of all these but doesnt mean you MUST get them all! follow the guidance of your doctors and you should be fine.  (+ info)

IN Increased INTRACRANIAL PRESSURE , postural drainage is contra indicated_ WHY?

IN Increased INTRACRANIAL PRESSURE, Postural drainage is contra indicated_ why
----------

Certain positions with postural drainage would only increase ICP more. Most of the time you want someone to be lying flat on their back with their feet elevated higher than their head. That would increase ICP. This would be really bad in people with brain injuries. You would not want to increase the ICP in them and cause any more harm. The fluid around the brain will have nowhere to go and increasing the ICP can be sometimes fatal.  (+ info)

How do I get paid through the state to care for my mother?

My mother just had an intracranial hemorrhage stroke last week, & her at-home situation is not the most conducive for her recovery. I currently work full time, but I don’t have enough time at my current employer to qualify for the Family Medical Leave Act (I’ve only been there for nine months). I need to have income to cover my minimal but still substantial bills. But I also would like to be able to care for my mother because I am completely positive that I can't trust my stepfather to make sure that my mom makes the lifestyle changes that are necessary. My mom is an alcoholic, and she also smokes cigarettes. She also occasionally takes Vicodin (not prescribed). Her husband is also a smoker & an alcoholic, which is why I do not believe that he will be capable of caring & supporting my mother. Does anyone have any experience with caring for a parent & receiving pay through the state? Where would I go to get forms, info or anything else useful? Thanks to anyone who answers?
----------

Call the state, as well as social services. A social worker can help u locate the forms. I know that my brother took care of his wife and was paid for. She had cancer. Also have u asked anyone where ur mom gets treatment? They should have the info if not the forms. Look in the front of the telephone book, there are government phone numbers there.  (+ info)

how can you measure your intracranial pressure??

----------

A diagnosis of raised intracranial pressure is made at the patient's bedside. An MRI or CT scan is often used to determine the cause and confirm the diagnosis.

Intracranial pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Intracranial pressure may be measured during a spinal tap (lumbar puncture). It may also be measured directly by a calibrated device inside the brain.

Raised intracranial pressure is a serious and often fatal condition. If the underlying cause of the raised intracranial pressure is treatable, then the outlook is generally better. Compression of vital brain structures and blood vessels can lead to serious, permanent neurologic deficits or even death.

Raised intracranial pressure is often not preventable. Patients with persistent headache, blurred vision, altered level of consciousness, neurologic deficits, and seizures should seek medical attention as soon as possible.  (+ info)

what does subepidermal hemorrhages mean?

----------

The dermis is a tough layer of our skin. Above it is called the epidermis. A hemorrhage is a bleed. So it means that there was(is) a bleed between the dermis and the epidermis. (under the epidermis, but above the dermis).  (+ info)
