Splinter hemorrhages and urticaria like rashes?

I have been experiencing red rashes similar to hives on the palms of my hands and bottom of feet. Along with this I have been experiencing occurrences of splinter hemorrhages under my nails. This has been ongoing for about the past 12 months. I have seen a cardiologist and endocarditis has been ruled out. I have seen a multiple dermatologists who can't seem to diagnose a cause for this (biopsy has been done on the nodes on my hands with inconclusive results, but osler's nodes and janeway lesions were ruled out). Results of biopsy stated perivascular dermatitis (which my Dr said basically means a "rash"). I have seen a rheumatologist who has ruled out auto-immune and vasculitis disorders. Bloodwork revealed an slightly elevated white blood count, but a hematologist indicated nothing to worry about. I am at a loss of what to do next. Any help?
Also, have tested negative for syphilis. Bloodwork came back negative. I have had blood taken approximately 25 times over the past year from different doctors including a hematologist, everything comes back unremarkable.

Not an easy task to do, but find a new specialist and be tested for Antiphospolipid Syndrome. Considered rare, but is not. The splinter hemorrages and rash are a indicator.. I have this autoimmune disease and I dedicate much time to awareness of it Many doctors have never heard of it, but it is very real. Men and women young and old have this. I am including a site for you to explore.  (+ info)

Can an ovarian cyst cause increased intracranial pressure?

Nobody can figure out why the pressure in my head is so high. The last spinal tap it was 41. They also found an ovarian cyst. Could this be causing the pressure to be so high?
----------

Hmm...I'm not sure that the ovarian cyst of average size and location would place enough pressure on the nerves to have an effect on intracranial pressure. Might these be coincident things that have occurred independently and have nothing to do with one another? Are the doctors able to tell you how long the cyst has been there? Perhaps the high pressure you're experiencing predates the cyst. I'd imagine that if you are having spinal taps, a neurologist or other specialist is involved in your care. You haven't mentioned any other health conditions (migraine, seizures, stroke), but could an infection, inflammation related to the cyst growth, an autoimmune or neurological condition (I hate to say it, but stroke or multiple sclerosis) be contributing to your problems? Not to alarm you -- I'm certainly not a specialist of any sort -- but I remembered another post to the site that mentioned raised intracranial pressure in a person with MS in particular. I'm sure that your doctor will have done tests to rule this condition out as well as brain tumors, growths, and damage to the vessels, but it wouldn't hurt to confirm. I do hope that you'll have answers soon.  (+ info)

Could smoking pot cause brain hemorrhages?

Just curious from a past experience I had.
I felt in the back of my head a rush of hot liquid leaking into my spine. I could hear the sound like a waterfall.
I don't smoke anymore, but I sometimes feel that same sensation, for a small period of time..
Are there blood vessels that could pop from the effects of smoking pot?Like having a very high heart rate etc
Or is this just something that's all in the head?
----------

only if you were trying to push your eyes out of their sockets.

THC is supposed to relieve pressure in the head area, which is why people with glaucoma take it.  (+ info)

Anyone ever heard of Intracranial Pressure?

It's pressure on the brain. If you are treated with a lumbar puncture, does that cure it or is it just a temporary relief? I suppose I'm hoping there's a doctor or medical student out there who might read this! My husband may have this. He now has swelling of the optic nerves, headaches, blepharospasm and glaucoma, and dizziness.

Can CT scan of the head show elevated intracranial pressure?

Yes. One can recognise the squashed brain quite easily on the CT scan.  (+ info)

why does increased intracranial pressure can cause manifestation like projectile vomiting?

The brain is suspeneded in your cranium by cranial fluid. Temperatures in the brain have to be maintained within 3 degrees or you will die. THere is a very delicate balance in your cranium, and increased pressure can throw all of it off, leading to unpleasant condition, such as vomiting, seizures, and blackouts.  (+ info)
