Will I develop a natural resistance to insect bites?

I just moved here to Champaign, Il from the UK and I'm getting bitten A LOT from insects. Will I develop a natural resistance to these so there's less swelling and itchiness? I don't see anyone else with bites all over them! I am all inoculated and everything so there's no danger there, its just slightly annoying.

My three year old daughter is still in diapers and either a flea or spider got in there and got really hungry. She has four bites, two of them are swollen to over an inch in diameter, red, and filled with pus. They both erupted today after a week of growth. She is in some discomfort, but isn't crying, but does complain a lot. Is there some natural remedy to help it along or should we just take her to the doctor to be on the safe side?

Why does hot water feel so good on insect bites?

I got bitten by a bull ant on my shoulder this winter. These bites itch for quite a long time afterwards. When I was in the shower, I noticed that hot water feels ridiculously good on the bite. The hotter the water, the better. I replicated it on a tick bite a week or so back, and it felt just as good. Anyone know the mechanism behind this? Is it similar to the mechanisms of scratching (hot water feels lots better)?

They are quite large some of them and red. Yes, they are definitely insect bites, there were loads of insects around and we could actually feel them biting us :] always a good camping trip ;) Thanks x

Well my cat sleeps in my bed a lot and she got fleas and I have bites ALL OVER my legs! I changed the sheets on my bed but I still have flea bites and I just put witch hazel on them, how fast should they go away if I do this every day?

And yeah we're going to get flea medicine for the cat soon.
Witch hazel is an anti inflamatory and an astringent that reduces pain and swelling. it also contains tannin wich is antiseptic- usually with in under an hour you should feel a difference.

Yes it can. There was a television episode on Mystery Diagnosis. Thoroughly massage the lymph nodes and the lymph will start to circulate again. The nodes are just blocked, is all.

There are 2 of these bites on her arm, 3 on her neck, and 1 on her stomach. They are large, hard, and red. She does not seem to be acting any differently. Please help us identify these bites, and what may have caused them. Any websites would be helpful! Thank you!
My sister had nearly 20 bites that fit that description on her back when we came back from the river. It could be some weird kind of mosquito, or a harmless spider bite. I would definitely put anti-itch stuff on them, so that she can be comfortable.

I got bit by an insect. my doctor doesn't know which type though. I've had it for 6 days now and it itches and hurts like crazy. Is there anyway to get rid of it quickly? Im putting cortisone on it and taking benadryl. But is there anything else?

What kind of insect bites do I have?

I woke up one morning with 2 swollen fingers. They felt like I had jammed them because the joints were sore, but they were really, really itchy. A few days later, after the swelling had gone down, I noticed that each finger had a couple of small bumps on them. I've seen a few mosquitos in my apartment, but these were smaller than mosquito bites usually are.

Any ideas?
