Well I am in college and I just got over mono... And it is called the kissing disease so... Prob college students. I've heard of several epidemics of mono at colleges near mine. Ohh and my doc. told me it is possible to get mono when you're a child and not know it because the symptoms are not as bad. Mono comes from the EBV virus which can show no syptoms in children.  (+ info)

what are negative and positive feedback of infectious mononucleosis?

Homeostatic Imbalance, Mononucleosis
----------

I cannot think of one positive thing about this illness. It is the pits! My son was hospitalized for 4 days because of it. It is not just a "normal" let it run its course illness. It can be very dangerous.

I guess if you want something positive - once you have had mono, it is unlikely that you will get it again.  (+ info)

What is Infectious mononucleosis?

It makes you tired, your glands swell, sometimes strep throat, spleen swell, and some other symptoms. You get it from kissing, using other people's utensils that have it, drinking after some one that has it, or even just being in a room with someone that is coughing and sneezing (how I got it). It can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months.  (+ info)

What is the immune response/body defenses against mononucleosis?

IMMUNE RESPONSE/BODY DEFENSES - how would a person's body try to fight the illness infectious mononucleosis?

Thanks very much.
----------

Usually the first obvious symptom is sleeping all the time. You glands can swell and so can your spleen. It is nothing to fool around with. With the spleen swollen and the glands - this is your body's defense system along with nothing but being very, very tired and sleeping all the time.

It is also very contagious (called the kissing disease).

See a doctor if this is what you have. Good luck!  (+ info)

I might be able to help a little you can get it from kissing, sharing drinks, things like that but it starts to wear down your immune system... I had it when I was about 15 and let it go way to far to the point were I would pass out in the shower and was so worn down to the point were I sat up in class one day and just from lifting my head off my desk to sitting normal blood started running out my nose... I was very sick lost TONS of weight and it took a long time till I got back to normal. I'm not sure exactly how it attacks the immune system but I also wasn't able to donate blood for 5yrs because of it!! Best of luck hope this helps!!  (+ info)
