Low blood volume & low blood pressure remedies?

I have POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). I can't stand I get dizzy and black out due to blood pooling in my legs. I have extreme low blood pressure and I'm seeking natural remedies because I also have severe MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, can't take drugs, the chemicals in them trigger a reaction and if my BP gets any lower I could die. I've already passed out, been in a coma etc...)

Recently I heard the term "hypovolemia" and that I don't have enough blood volume. Why is that?

I drink a lot of water. Not too much so I don't drown but really a lot.

My face gets very bloated at times. It was fine last night then it became bloated in a moment.

Is there any relation to eating vegetables and fruit and this condition? any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I also have severe hypoadrenalism (adrenal failure), hypo cortisol & hypo aldosterone.

Thanks Tim. I do eat a lot of salt or I couldn't stay conscious.

PLEASE REPORT THE TROLL gazeygoo, I nearly died twice, I don't need to be insulted like this.

My sister suffers from , IBS, and POTS. She fell down two flights of stairs and all these things can about after the accident. We had to do a lot of research to help her, like you, there really is no "cure" but there are way to attack it and perhaps you should look into it.

She goes 3x a week and the therapists uses compression leg cuffs and 2x a month a whole suit to help with the pooling of the blood. She uses daily a machine that uses vibration from her ankles while lying on her back for 10 min. 4x a day (Dr. show on CBS at 9 am EST had the equipment). Also, using a stand-up new machine that uses vibration when you can't exercise, has shown improvement with people with POTS, but please check around first before ordering stuff. But do talk about the compression suit.

Also, one big thing has helped her. She is completely on a gluten-free diet, no corn products at all (even syrup), no white sugar, uses only maple or honey. She eats 6 to 7 small meals a day, and wears also compression stockings which she was measured for. She keeps her feet up more than the average person and the therapist uses massage treatment for lower back, hips, thighs and legs 3x a week too.

After three months on the above plan, she no longer passes out and the swelling has reduced. They then added an acupuncturist to the mix, and she sees him 2x a week. She would like to go more, but is waiting to get approval. Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? There are so many conditions that can be affected and also add to the problems. Having sensitivites to chemicals means you need to be tested before they try new drugs that have been proved to help. Look up on Medline if you can, or go through your general physician to read all the material and various treatment plans that have worked for one but not another.

However, my sister now can get out and move around more than she has had in 7 years since her accident. And, if you can, try to take up a hobby that is fulfilling, to help your mind to get into the act and help fight your problems. Keeping as active mentally and physically as you can will help. FYI: her doc is a former farmer and the county medical examiner, he tests all his patients for a fungus infection, have you had one? Weird things can set off POTS, so you might have to do a lot of your own research--e-mail if you want to know more of what my sister has done. The diet did a lot.  (+ info)

NATURAL remedies 4 low blood volume & low blood pressure?

IN A NUTSHELL: I'm looking for NATURAL remedies for the blood volume increase at this point, thanks!

I am sorry to hear of your situation with POTS..... and an adrenal problem. It is surely a double whammy!! There are some medications, such as fludrocortisone and others of which you must be aware. A lot depends on the underlying cause of your condition. I am amazed at the doctors reaction to your condition. It definitely is serious. It can be a very frustrating set of symptoms to find an answer for. I think you will have to go to a big city hospital such as Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to get some answers. As far as natural remedies (all of which are chemical compounds) it would be a very risky proposition for you to take them considering your chemical sensitivity. The possible adverse effects may far outweigh any slight potential benefit you may receive.
Johns Hopkins General Information # is 1-410-955-5000. I called and asked if they could refer me to a doctor that might have experience with your condition. She could not answer the question and transferred me to their referal co-ordinator, who was out at the time. I will keep digging and if I come up with anything I will pass it along. Best of luck to you.  (+ info)
