what is hypospadias, born with hypospadias condition?

Will he/she will be able to lead a normal married life after surgery and what is the correct surgery for this?
----------

Hypospadias is a birth defect of the urethra in the male that involves an abnormally placed urinary meatus (opening). Instead of opening at the tip of the glans of the penis, a hypospadic urethra opens anywhere along a line (the urethral groove) running from the tip along the underside (ventral aspect) of the shaft to the junction of the penis and scrotum or perineum. A distal hypospadias may be suspected even in an uncircumcised boy from an abnormally formed foreskin and downward tilt of the glans.

The urethral meatus opens on the glans penis in about 50–75% of cases; these are categorized as first degree hypospadias. Second degree (when the urethra opens on the shaft), and third degree (when the urethra opens on the perineum) occur in up to 20 and 30% of cases respectively. The more severe degrees are more likely to be associated with chordee, in which the phallus is incompletely separated from the perineum or is still tethered downwards by connective tissue, or with undescended testes (cryptorchidism).

This syndrom happens in males only. Surgery is usually done at birth or in infancy and if done properly will not effect the child as an adult.  (+ info)

Unable to ejaculate, affect of hypospadias operations?

I've had several hypospadias operations as a child from age 2 to 17. When I was 17 prior to my last op I had no problems ejaculating, then they reduced the size of my penis slightly and did a "final" correction, ever since I've not been able to ejaculate without trying for ages. Quite regularly I get tears in the skin on the underside of my penis from the length of time it takes having sex or masturbating. Sometimes I use lube but it seems to make it worse. Even if I abstain from sex/masturbating for over a week I still have the problem. Fellatio doesn't do the trick, nor does intercourse or masturbation. I don't know what to do.
I'm 26 now, so its 9 years since my last op, Is it still an after effect of my operations, and what can I do?
I haven't seen my doc about it cos I thought it would get better with time.

To clarify, I can ejaculate, it just takes ages, sometimes 2 hours
----------

Did you have a serious case of hypospadias where they had to do a lot of reconstruction? Maybe they didn't get the sperm tubes connected to the urethra - causing you to ejaculate internally. Have you ever had a wet dream?

Despite not being able to ejaculate, does it at least feel good to masturbate? Do you climax? Hopefully it's not a sensation problem. Maybe they damaged a nerve during the reduction and you don't have enough sensation to be able to become sexually aroused. Did the sensation change after the operation?

I'm guessing if you have the ability to climax, you're ejaculating inside your body because a tube isn't connected properly.

Or a nerve was hit and you're too numb to become aroused.  (+ info)

Hypospadias and trying to conceive?

My husband has mild hypospadias and I was wondering if this will make ttc difficult? If anyone has any experience with this, I would love some opinions/stories.
Hypospadias is when a man is born with the opening of his urethra further down the shaft, not at the tip. The "shot" is not as direct if you know what I mean.
My husband did have surgery for it when he was a baby, but now I would consider it mild. The opening is still not on top.
----------

My son was born with hypospadias and the doctors did do surgery since it was more than mild. He did comment that mild hypospadias is not a big deal, even when he would have reached a reproductive age. I am sure it wouldn't hurt to call either your OB/GYN or a urologist to confirm.  (+ info)

my son has hypospadias and is having his operation?

in march he will be 15 months old has anyone experianced this. not sure if iam doing the right thing letting him go through with this op.
----------

My little boy is also 15 months and also has hypospadias. He was 4 months early so still quite small which is why he has not had the op yet.

Kids can be ruthless when they are older. He will be open to ridicule. He will not be able to urinate standing up and when he is an adult it can cause fertility problems.

Best to get the operation over with as soon as possible as he will be more aware of the discomfort if he is any older.

I know how anxious you feel. My baby has had to endure many operations in his short life including open heart surgery. But there really is little risk involved in this procedure and it some cases it can even be done as a day case.  (+ info)

Dear All,How could an hypospadias in an adult be treated and cured ?

Hypospadias can be corrected by surgical means in adults although it is more commonly addressed in the first years of life. The type of operation used is dependent on the patient and degree of severity. Start by seeing a Urologist - request one that has experience with urethral reconstruction and get evaluated. Has anyone's son been born with hypospadias?

My son's doctor thinks he may have been born with hyposadias? It's when the pee hole isn't where it should be or something...I'm having trouble understanding it. They said if it is in fact that, they have to start procedures when he's 6 months old. The hosptial wasn't suppose to circumsize him if it is in fact hypospadias because they would need the foreskin for the later procedures...but the hosptial DID circumsize him, and possibly didnt take notice they he had this defect....anyone have any experience with this? Thank you.
----------

Another argument AGAINST circumcision. But to answer your question YES. A friend of mine's son was born with this. And he was circumcised. So they had to wait until he was about a year and then they had to do the surgery and they had to do skin grafts to reconstruct the area properly. He's a normal 11 year old boy now. But I don't really ask her how her son's penis reconstruction turned out either so if there were any bad results, I'm not aware.

But I knew an adult who had that same problem and he had a very small penis. The surgery stunted its growth somehow and he was child sized. Of course his surgery was done 40 years ago and things have greatly improved medically since so I wouldn't worry about that.

But I would ask the doctor about grafts and about affecting the growth just to be sure. Also, if it's not vastly in the wrong spot, you could consider just leaving it alone, if it doesn't affect function. I'd ask the doctor about that too.

Good luck  (+ info)
