Any parents with boys with Hypospadias?

My son is 10 months old. He has Penoscrotal Hypospadias with Chordee. His first surgery was back in July and his next is in January.

Does anyone else wonder if there son will have a good life? Does anyone else worry about there self esteem? Is anyone else scared of having another son with hypospadias?
I'm not sure you know everything about hypospadias. It CAN be severe. My sons was not cosmetic. He had to have surgery to function. His pee hole came out at the base of his penis in his scrotum. He also had chordee. That means his penis was stuck in a bent curved downward position. His penis is also very very tiny. Only the head shows from his fat pad. And when I can get a look at the shaft he has many noticeable scars. He has to have another surgery because he has developed fistula(holes along the surgery site) so now he is peeing out of 3 holes. Also the bottom part of his penis is shorter then the top and he dosn't have any foreskin underneith. Even tho he is circumsized after his surgery the skin still looks weird.

My son looks very different. It is very noticeable. He is not as lucky as some with milder types of hypospadias.

Thank you for replying tho.

My 3 month was born with it as well and will be having surgery in Febuary. I know my son will have a good life because he is a happy, loving child so I dont worry about that. As far as self esteem goes, the surgery is basically (in our case and Im not sure about all cases) cosmetic so after the surgery you should never be able to tell anything was ever different and I never plan to tell him about the surgery. I do plan on having another child in a few years and have no fear of having another son with hypospadias. My son is very heathy, active and a joy to be around and I would not trade anything about him for anything in the world. Hypospadias is not a severe defect. Our kids are still able to lead noraml lives. Have no fear your son will be fine. Try not to worry. Congrats on your baby boy!  (+ info)

I have hypospadias. My condom broke and I came inside my girl?

She did not get pregnant. Do you think I have a low sperm count? Should I take a take for low sperm count?
----------

Hypospadias may occasionally interfere with pregnancy; if the opening is not close to the end of the penis, the sperm may not reach the woman's cervix during intercourse. Men with hypospadias may also have other less obvious abnormalities elsewhere in the male genital tract. Abnormalities in the prostate gland or seminal vesicles may be found in conjunction with hypospadias. Any of these abnormalities, as well as inadequate testicular function, may lead to problems with the semen that can affect fertility.

Relax..it may take up to a year to get pregnant. The first time does not always work. Talk to a doctor.  (+ info)

surgery for it looks painful, ouch, hopefully they left you with a foreskin because that appears to be what they use to correct it, if you wanna keep the foreskin make sure to make that apparent during consultation to see if there is another way  (+ info)

My boyfriend has hypospadias, can we have a child?

He has uncorrected hypospadias, opening close to base of his penis. He also has very small testes (about half inch wide) and small penis (about 3 inches long).
----------

I'm surprised that he hasn't had surgery to fix it, and I commend you for staying with him despite this.

I'm assuming since you asked if he can have a child you have already engaged in sexual intercourse with him.
So answer these questions for yourself: Is his penis curved during an erection? Can he produce viable sperm?
Would he be able to "finish" inside you enough to fertilize you? This might be hard if the opening is positioned so that semen does not enter the vagina.

I advise that you see a doctor for a definitive answer. He can look at your 'case' personally as well as provide much better explanations and alternatives. Artificial insemination could be used to transfer the man's semen into the proper location for fertilization, if he is infertile and unable to do it himself.

He may also suggest that your boyfriend undergo surgery to correct this defect, as it is possible even as an adult.

Normally I don't say this, but I hope I at least helped a bit - good luck. :]  (+ info)

I have extreamly minor hypospadias and have a few condom questions

Ok so i have really really minor hypospadias. The hole is on the head just right below the tip. The problem is i noticed the part of the condom the seman goes into is right at the tip. is there any particular way to where the condom? or just put it on normaly and hope the cum goes into the tip.
----------

Minor hypospadias as you describe is not that much of a big deal at all, and should certainly not interfere with you sexual function when using a condom - the previous respondent said pinch the tip (which is common sense) the act of intercourse will mean that the condom will move with you and when you ejaculate it will go into the reservoir at the end. Don't worry about it. If you want it rectified it is a minor surgical procedure but as you described - I doubt that it will be beneficial to you anyway.  (+ info)

I learned today that I have a slight case of distal hypospadias. What do I do? Can I have children?

I'm kind of freaking out. I had always known that something wasn't normal. I can ejaculate normally. When i pee there are two streams usually. I don't know what to do. Nobody ever talked to me about this before and I didn't know I had it. Can I still impregnate a woman? Thanks in advance.
----------

First of all relax. All that fancy term means is the opening of the urethra on your penis is not centered at the tip end. It is a common thing, actually, being slightly off center, and the estimates are that 3-4 boys per 200 babies have the condition to a noticeable degree. If it had been really bad, it would have been surgically corrected shortly after you were born, at the recommendation of the pediatrician who took care of you.
Yes, you will be able to become a father more than likely. You will still have all the same sensations of pleasure that all men have. Nothing about that is changed or affected.
There is a surgical procedure to change the way things look, but that surgery will also damage nerves in the area and leave you with less feeling- so it's not recommended for slight cases, or even cases where the opening is completely on the underside of the penis- so long as it is all enclosed, surgeons consider the surgical repair to be strictly cosmetic. It would only change how things look, not how they work. And as I said, the surgery would affect feeling in the area, and you could be left pretty much without sensation at all if things didn't go well.
Really, the only thing is that you look a bit different from some other fellows, but everything else is fine and functions as it should. So you won't write your name in the snow easily, and your aim might be a little less than accurate sometimes. But so far as everything else, you will be quite capable when the time arrives. If you are really curious about learning more about the condition, you can do a web search using the term hypospadias and get loads of it, or you can talk things over with a urologist who can answer you in person. In the meantime, don't freak out. You are probably closer to normal than you think, and nothing is broken or malfunctioning. You are more normal than you realize.  (+ info)

I need advice on how to raise my son with Hypospadias.?

My son was born with first degree Hypospadias, he is 16 months old and will soon have corrective surgery. I was wondering from a psychological standpoint, how this effects men's emotional health and sexual well-being. What are some things I need to keep in mind when raising him... I guess I am looking for some advice and or stories from men with this condition.

Thanks
----------

The main thing is to explain to him, as he grows, and in terms he can understand, what he has. I was born with hypo, and have not had corrective surgery. I knew I was 'different', but not why until i was in my 40's. That was the hardest part of growing up, being different but not knowing why. Now that I know what it is, how many men it affects (approx 3 to 5% depending on the source of the information), and that I have sucessfully fathered at least 3 children, it no longer bothers me. I would however, been much less shy and self concious in my teens had I known what I had. Feel free to e-mail me if you want to discuss this further, and good luck with the surgery.  (+ info)

I have hypospadias and it like 1 inch away from the tip of my penis.?

I think my come is coming out and hitting the lower part of my girls vagina because it drains right back out. I have tried to just hold it in when I come but that does not work. My girl said I will have to get it fixed to ever have a kid. Is this true? Can I have have kids with out getting it fix?
----------

You won't have a problem Dude
The ejaculation will go out into the vaginal from both openings pm the penis, because the vagina closes the one on the shaft

In either location, there is a semen puddle in the vagina, and any movement after, causes it to move toward the cervix.
The sperm stay mobile in this puddle, and it is plenty enough to provide a medium for yur tough little swimmers, right to the egg to fertilize it.

You have enough semen, that when you withdraw, it is normal for some to come back out. That happens with everybody!
It's called a cream pie. Neither of you needs to worry.

The semen is a thick consistency when it enters the vagina, but it thins out in a couple hours and becomes runny for moving and seeping along.

yur going to be OK there Dude
