What are the primary and other risk factors that may or may not be related to basal cell carcinoma?

This is for my Anatomy class and is a clinical case study. I ask.com'd it but that none of the sites really helped me on determining the primary and other risk factors.
----------

Basal Cell Carcinoma Risk Factors

Some common risk factors for basal cell carcinoma include:

Chronic sun exposure mainly to UVB radiation but also UVA
A history of repeated sunburns or childhood exposure to the sun
A suppressed immune system
HIV disease
Ionizing radiation used for acne in the 1940's
Fair skin and the propensity to freckle or burn rather than tan

Some rare risk factors for basal cell carcinoma include:

Exposure to arsenic
A condition called granuloma inguinale
Scarred or previously damaged skin, especially radiation damage
Rare genetic diseases such as xeroderma pigmentosa, nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome, and albinism  (+ info)

Why does an unmarried man have to prove his viability as primary care giver to his infant child?

If you are an unmarried man why cant you take your baby home? A man wanting primary custody of his newborn child must prove the mother unfit and himself worthy before he is able to be granted unsupervised visitation eventually leading to supervised custodialship, of his own flesh and blood? If you are a female, society believes you are superior in ability to care for a child.
----------

i dont know but i do think it is unfair for the men to have to do that, when they show that they want the baby and the mother dosnt.

and actually i hate to say this but there are some men that are better for their child then the mothers are !  (+ info)

Is the primary or the secondary immune system more rapid?

Compare and contrast a primary and a secondary immune response. Is the primary or the secondary immune response more rapid? Why?
----------

You need to do the work Tam. But I will give you a hint. Break it down to its components. First line of defense is the skin. Second is the Nonspecific Immune Response, which is???, and the third is specific immune response which is??? Just break it down by those, define each and you have your answer. Take care.  (+ info)

What are the pros and cons of same-age stepbrothers attending different primary schools?

My three-yr-old son lives in amicable shared custody, and his dad's new wife has a son the same age, so in a way they are a bit like brothers. She, the new wife, wants both boys to attend a primary school that is a bit too far away for me. She's a bit of a bully about it. I would much prefer that my son go to the school just over the road from my house. It's a nice school.
I also think there are advantages to siblings going to different schools - they won't be competing against each other, they get to develop as individuals, they aren't arguing with the same friends, they can each shine without comparison to the other.
What do you think is better - same school, or different school?

Thanks for your advice.
----------

I have 2 step-daughters, one is the same age as my son and they go to the same middle school. This is great, they are very close as long as their other friends aren't around.. lol My other s-daughter (5) goes to a different primary school than my 7 year old daughter. This is hard because we do not see her as much. We have joint custody of both but the one that attends the same school is with us every day until her Mom gets home from work. The other lives about 1/2 hour away. I wish she was in the same district. As far as competition, a little competition never hurt anyone.

As far as her bullying you into which school to send YOUR son? She has NO say. This is between you and your ex.... she can bully all she wants but she gets no vote here. Believe me, as a step-mom, it drives me nuts sometimes. My husband and I do discuss matters but it is his decision. Do what you feel is best for your Son. If there is shared custody, they will have plenty of time to bond at home. Good luck to you.

PS... Why doesn't she send her son to the school of your choice??  (+ info)

I mean, I know what a c-section is but does "primary" denote whether it was elective or emergency?

How long does it generally take you to schedule an appointment with your primary care physician?

I rather need to get myself an appointment with my primary health care provider within the next 5 weeks, as my prescription is running out, and should I run out before my appointment, my whole regimen gets thrown off (birth control pill- likely to have my cycle messed up if I miss a month of it). Is it likely that I'll be able to get an appointment by then? I'm just getting into the habit of doing things on my own as a young adult, so pardon my ignorance.

If I couldn't get an appointment in time, is there any ways I could get a refill (maybe just one) without an appointment, just to hold until I can get myself in for one? Thanks in advance.
Note: the reason I didn't schedule one at my last appt. is because it was about a year ago... a bit too far in advance to plan. I haven't gotten hurt or sick enough to need care since.
----------

Call as soon as possible for an appointment. If your doctor doesn't have one available in the next 5 weeks explain to the nurse what your situation is. Most likely she'll try to squeeze you in or will inform your doctor of the situation and he'll write you a prescription that will extend until your next office visit.  (+ info)

Is it abnormal that the permanent teeth do not erupt 5 months after primary teeth fell off?

My 7 year old son lost his two front primary teeth 5 month ago in May, but up to now (Oct. 10) there is still no sign that his permanent teeth will erupt. I started to worry. Is this abnormal? Does any have similar experiences? Thanks in advance.
----------

What you are describing is one of the reasons why the American Association of Orthodontists recommends an evaluation by an orthodontist by age 7. It is likely that the teeth are just a little slow to erupt. But it is also possible that something may be hindering their eruption.

Sometimes a panoramic x-ray will be taken to evaluate the position of the teeth, other times just waiting will be recommended. If the teeth are being hindered in their eruption, the correction will depend on what the cause is. Sometimes extracting other baby teeth will solve the problem, and other times braces may be recommended if the teeth are impacted and will not self erupt.

Most orthodontists in the U.S. do not charge for their initial exam, so I would recommend that you take your son to see an orthodontist soon.  (+ info)

A question about how to change kids to another primary school?

I am moving to a city in 10 weeks, and need to know how to get them a place at the local primary school.
They are already in a primary school here.
Do i have to contact the council, or just arrange it with the school?
----------

First of all you need to contact the school to see if they have any spaces. If they have make an appointment with yourchild to see the head. They will show you around the school.
Also ask peoples advice about the schools, and also look them up on the internet.
This is what we done when we moved.  (+ info)
