I'm 22 weeks and I haven't been able to feel him hiccup yet, but they captured him doing it at my 20 week ultrasound.

When could other people see/feel your baby hiccup?
----------

I felt all three of mine hiccup beginning around the middle of the third trimester. Careful what you wish for though, sometimes those things can go on for a long time and you're sitting there with a vibrating belly! ;) Seriously though it's a precious feeling. Happy Hiccuping!  (+ info)

----------

Usually the cause of indigestion is the baby. People like to say the more indigestion you have, the more hair the baby is going to have. Don't be embarrassed by it, most people expect it from pregnant women.  (+ info)

How can you tell the difference between a hiccup and kick?

Is there a noticeably different feeling?
Or do they both feel the same?

In what week of pregnancy will I experience the feeling of his/her hiccup.

I'm 19 weeks pregnant,and can feel him/her kick,but I don't think I've felt a hiccup...
but then again,I don't know what the difference in feeling is..

Thanks in advance =)
----------

the hiccups aren't as strong as the kicks but at 19 weeks Im not sure i felt my kids hiccup But you will notice it more towards the end of pregnancy they are just softer and in the same spot consistantly until the baby gets rid of them. It can be very annoying though at times good luckxxx  (+ info)

Is it normal for a baby to hiccup more then once a day while in the womb?

I'm 28weeks5 days, yesterday my baby had hiccups for 5 minutes twice. Today is been 3 or 4 times so far. I have an old what to expect while expecting bool and it ways that if hiccups are for ten minutes and happen four times a day, the cord could be wrapped around his neck. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow any way so i'll ask then, but in the mean time what do you guys think?
----------

All my kids were hiccup crazy. My kids got hiccups at least 5 times a day everyday while I was pregnant. With my daughter, the cord was wrapped around her neck but it didn't cause anything bad to happen to her. With my son, the cord wasn't wrapped around his neck and he got hiccups just as much as my daughter. With this pregnancy, the baby gets hiccups at least 4-5 times a day. I don't know if the cord is wrapped around her neck or not. So I'd say it's a 50/50 chance the cord could be wrapped. Hope this helps  (+ info)

Why do people hiccup? What causes it, exactly? What's the best/fastest way to get rid of them?

I know it has something to do with the diaphragm, but what?
----------

I love Wikipedia ;-)

A hiccup or hiccough (normally pronounced "HICK-up"), is the spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm that repeats several times per minute. In humans, the abrupt rush of air into the lungs causes the epiglottis to close, creating the "hic" noise. In medicine, it is known as synchronous diaphragmatic flutter (SDF), or singultus.

List of possible causes of hiccup (singultus):

Carbonated beverages
Lack of water
Eating too fast
Being hungry for a while
Taking a cold drink while eating a hot meal
Burping
Eating very hot or spicy food
Laughing vigorously
Coughing
Drinking alcoholic beverages in excess
Crying out loud (sobbing causes air to enter the stomach)
Some smoking situations where abnormal inhalation can occur (in tobacco or other smoke like cannabis, perhaps triggered by precursors to coughing)
Electrolyte imbalance
Talking for too long
Clearing the throat
Use of some of the stronger opiate/opioid painkillers such as heroin, morphine, methadone and oxycodone
Lack of vitamins
Overstretching of the neck
Laryngitis
Heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux)
Sensation that there is food in the esophagus
Irritation of the eardrum (which is innervated by the vagus nerve)
Pressure to the phrenic nerve
Chemotherapy
General anesthesia
Surgery
Bloating
Tumor
Infection
Diabetes

Ordinary hiccups are cured easily without medical intervention; in most cases they can be stopped simply by forgetting about them. However, there are a number of anecdotal treatments for casual cases of hiccups. Some of the more common home remedies include giving the afflicted a fright or shock, drinking water (sometimes in an unorthodox manner), and altering one's breathing.  (+ info)
