why is abdominal pain present in dengue hemorrhagic fever?

symptoms of dengue fever: There may be gastritis with some combination of associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
----------

Well, GI hemorrhages are a possibility with DHF. I suppose it goes without saying that a GI hemorrhage can be painful.

The rest of the symptoms may relate to liver enlargment and dysfunction during DHF. Abnormal liver function can result in abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting.  (+ info)

what is the risk for crimean congo hemorrhagic fever pandemic?

Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a viral haemorrhagic fever of the Nairovirus group. Although primarily a zoonosis, sporadic cases and outbreaks of CCHF affecting humans do occur. The disease is endemic in many countries in Africa, Europe and Asia, and during 2001, cases or outbreaks have been recorded in Kosovo, Albania, Iran, Pakistan, and South Africa.
----------

The risk of a pandemic is very slight. CCHF is transmitted via ticks, or blood. The fact of the matter is that if a disease is to become a truly dangerous pandemic, it must have aerosol transmission (eg. sneezing, coughing, etc.). The odds of many people coming into contact with the blood of an infected person are slight, at best. Furthermore, with the quarantine procedures that would be implemented, the odds of any hemmorhagic fever becoming a pandemic or not good at all. There are far more dangerous and more easily transmittable diseases than CCHF. Your concern would be far better suited to a disease that infects the nose, throat, or lungs.  (+ info)

Does repeat Dengue fever (hemorrhagic) cause vascular damage leading to initiating Aortic dissection ?

Background: previous exposure to Yellow fever by Yellow fever vaccination and six tours of Asia (Singapore, Vietnam and China - all endemic Dengue areas)....Thank you.
----------

I don't think there is a known association in between dengue fever and aortic dissection, its mainly a risk of hemorrhagic death, if you are not a local of these areas then avoid going all these endemic places, good luck  (+ info)

why does blood pressure always check in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever?

thx for ur answer. ill be waiting..
----------

in the absence of a definitve test for dengue, one may use the torniquet test which when positive may be presumptive of the diagnosis of dengue in endemic areas. Prior to the conduct of the test, one must determine the blood pressure of the patient because this will serve as the basis for the mean arterial pressure value which is required during the torniquet test.

Also, blood pressure is a vital sign (and so are the cardiac rate, temperature, respiratory rate) which is required not only of patients with dengue but of all patients going into the emergency room. Blood pressure is also required in dengue patients in order to classify the severity of the disease (dengue has 4 stages). Thus, using only the BP, one may readily institute measures necessary to save the life of the patient.  (+ info)
