Does anyone else hand, arm, or foot massage themselves?

I have a borderline obsession with rubbing my hands and wrists, particularly the sides of the wrists going onto the thumb and the back of my hands. I then usually massage all my arms at night massage my feet with the opposing heel. Does anyone else do this? Is it possibly a subconscious self-reflexology?
----------

I massage my hands and feet when I feel really anxious. I do actually think it's subconscious self reflexology!  (+ info)

Precordial Catch Syndrome couple with arm pain?

Is Precordial Catch Syndrome ever coupled with shooting left arm pain, specifically right above the elbow? Or would that be a symptom of something else? I'm seventeen, so any serious heart disease seems unlikely. I haven't had a chance to go to a doctor yet. And the arm pain doesn't seem to be brought on by physical activity. Just looking for ideas.

Thank you!

complete numbness in fingers and both sides of hand do i have carpal tunnel syndrome, if not what is it?

hi i am 22 and my little finger, ring finger palm and both sides of my hand have been numb for days, i went to the docs this morning and she said i had carpal tunnel syndrome and she was sending me to s surgan, however i have been reading up on CTS and non mention numbness in the little finger, could it still be CTS and if not, what? also will i still have to have surgary to fix this problem?
----------

CTS does indeed cause numbness, sometimes in the hand and sometimes in the arm itself. I think it is a little drastic at this point to head straight for surgery, but it depends upon how long you wish to live with it. Some steps at home that can be taken are to wear a wrist brace that keeps your wrist in a neutral alignment, especially at night and to begin taking some ibuprofen. The brace relieves the pressure of CTS and eases the pain and the medicine will calm down the inflammation. Once the wrist becomes less inflamed, you can often go weeks or months without wearing the brace. This is how I deal with mine and I haven't actually worn my brace in months. If I feel it starting to get bad again, then the brace goes on until it feels good once more.  (+ info)

Could I have nerve damage from letting my hand/arm/leg/foot fall asleep too often?

Everyone at some point in their life has their hand, arm, leg or foot fall asleep. I'm wondering could I have nerve damage from letting this too often?
----------

This isn't really an answer to the question asker, I'm just hoping that the other people who have replied read this...

When your limbs fall asleep, you aren't preventing BLOOD from entering the area, otherwise the area would soon start to necrotize (DIE!) and you'd end up with a dead limb.

That isn't the way it works. It pinches your nerves and doesn't allow electrical signals to reach the area. That's why it feels numb - your sensation has been cut off and can't reach the brain. And when it comes back awake again, that is your brain's way of returning sensation to the area. It really is "awakening".  (+ info)

23 Weeks Pregnant and i'm noticing wen I wake up from a nap my right hand/arm has all pins and needles?

This happens everytime i nap/sleep even when im not putting any pressure on it at all! Should I be worried?
I know its funny but this isnt my 1st pregnancy, infact its my 3rd, but i am having new symptoms i didnt have with the other two! :) So its just interesting to get everyones opinions
----------

This happened to me, too. The baby is probably laying on a blood vessel or a nerve. As the baby gets bigger, this'll probably happen more often. Ask your Dr at your next visit to be sure.  (+ info)

stroke left me paralyzed, when will my hand/arm work again?

will acupuncture establish new brain connections?
I am 7 months post-stroke. I stayed in a rehab hospital for 1 month. Then took adaptive PE at my local college. Did out patient therapy at Kaiser, and currently am doing acupuncture.I walk, talk, even drive again. My arm/hand is somewhat better and still seeing marked improvement. I just wonder if there is a chance that it will return 100%?

Do I have arthritis? If not then what is wrong with my left hand/arm?

Two weeks ago, I felt joint pain and stiffness when I woke up. I sometimes feel tingling, soring of bones, and feel biting not on the flesh but on the bone. The symptoms stopped and the tingling was downplayed after a week but now it has started up again but worse. Lots of tingling, itching, and soring of the bones and the biting feeling. When I stretch my arm out, it makes a small cracking noise like it's not smooth like how it used to where it did not make a cracking noise when I stretch. Please help?

how come when i smoke it feels like my right hand/arm is "going to sleep"?

everytime i smoke my right hand feels very tingly like it is going to sleep... i heard that smoking cut the circulation off from your limbs?? why is this happening?????
i need an explaination not a lecture!! please and thnx
----------

Yes, it can do this. Basically, smoke is a poison, so every time you smoke you are poisoning yourself.

Try chewing gum, it won't kill you like smoking will.  (+ info)
