I want to be able to cut my own hair since I can give my other friends good hair cuts. The problem is I can't move my hand in direction my brain wants it too.

Can I use an electric hand mixer to make hummus?

I want to make hummus, but I don't have a food processor (or a blender), but I have an electric hand mixer and I was wondering if I could use that. I don't want to spend extra money on a food processor because I know I won't use it very often. Thanks in advance.

How can i get my hand to stop shaking whenever i hold something?

Thing is that whenever i hold something in mid-air my hand shakes. my parents say that only old people have that and im only 15.
----------

There are many different types of tremors (shaking), the first category being a resting tremor that happens when you are resting your hand, the second being an intention tremor which happens when you are using your hand. Should you be worried? Most likely not. It is most likely and idiopathic tremor, meaning a tremor of unknown cause. However, you should definitely be evaluated by a Neurologist to rule out anything serious going on (such as a tumor.) At least that way you can feel good knowing that it's not something life threatening, and be able to sleep better at night!  (+ info)

How much difference does mixing cookie dough by hand vs using an electric mixer make?

I used to have a hand-held electric mixer, but it broke down and I haven't had the time to go look for a new one yet. I'm thinking of making soft cookies, but I of course have to mix the dough by hand, using a whisk - even when creaming the butter and sugar. I'm wondering if it will make a big difference to how my cookies turn out. Any advice is appreciated.
----------

In my experience: not a lot. For fluffy, cake-like cookies, an electric mixer works a bit better, because it can incorporate more air (unless you have amazing arm strength to whip stuff), and hand-mixing works better for chewy cookies, because it doesn't incorporate as much air.

I use a whisk to beat the butter and sugar together, and then to add the eggs and vanilla, and then a spoon for the rest. It'll be easier if you let your butter get really warm, bordering on melting, than just at room temperature.  (+ info)

Is it true hand sanitizer doesn't work unless you have washed your hands in between aplications?

I heard that if you use hand sanitizer then go do something, then use it again the second time it doesn't work right, and you have to wash your hands in between every use for it to work properly. Is that true?
----------

Hand sanitizer doesn't work very well on soiled hands because the sanitizer doesn't actually remove anything. So if you have gunk caked on your hands, washing them with soap and water is far more effective for removing germs than a hand sanitizer. If your
hands are basically clean, but you have touched toilet seats, doorknobs, or other surfaces that harbor germs, then a hand sanitizer is generally more effective than washing for killing germs.  (+ info)

is there really the difference between hand cream and face cream?

so how are they different? is it just something that the companies make up so that consumers would buy more products from them?
if there is a difference, is it big enough that we cant use hand cream for face or vice versa?
----------

no there is a difference between hand and face cream.

face creams are usually more moisturizing and made for the sensitive, delicate skin on your face whereas hand cream needs to be tougher because you use your hands so much! they go through alot and dry out alot faster so youd need a thicker cream. also there are alot of hand creams that are anti-aging etc. to help make your hands look younger because they age so quickly because of how much you use them

always use your face cream only for your face..they are more expensive and should be used for their purpose, not wasted on your hands.  (+ info)

What spices do you keep on hand prepared and ready to use?

Our family eats alot of sautéed mushroom and onions. Once weekly I will saute a bowl full and keep in fridge to use as need. Do you keep something like this on hand to make it easier to cook in the evening?
----------

Once a week or so, I stew and spice tomatoes and then refrigerate it. It really helps when I want to spontaneously pop them in my dish but don't want to go through the pains of cooking it. (I don't like canned stewed tomatoes)

I also love spicy chicken, so I'd say a few times a month I'd brown slices of chicken with some Montreal Steak Seasoning and minced garlic and then freeze it until I decide to take it out on a morning where I decide that I want to make mac n cheese for dinner or some other recipe that the spicy chicken would fit in. A real time saver!!!  (+ info)

What is the proper way to hand toss pizza dough?

I make pizza dough from scratch, but I am curious as to how to hand toss it because I am wanting to try it myself!

Thanks for the replies, and have a great day! :)
----------

Tossing pizza dough is a kind of skill you have to practice at to become good. First, you have to make sure the dough is at room temperature, and in a round ball. Then take your fingers and go around the circle, making an indentation where the crust is going to be. It's up to you how big to make the crust. Then, you use the new indentations to push the dough out, enlarging the circle. Then, using a fork or a tool called a "Docker," poke the dough and get rid of the air bubbles. After this is done, the actual tossing begins. You position the dough in your hands like you are clapping with the dough in between your open hands. you kind of do a "rub-clap" maneuver. Its called "dough slapping." This link shows a Papa John's employee slapping and tossing.

Tossing pizza is an art that must be practiced and perfected. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Good luck, and have fun with your pizza!  (+ info)

What is the chance that my hand immobility is permanent?

My right hand, including my wrist, has gone weak and partially immobile. It's been in this condition nearly 4 days, since I woke up after a night of heavy drinking. What's the chance that this is permanent?
----------

You may have done something to it when you were asleep or just dont remember. You should really go to the doctor. I think you'll be fine.  (+ info)
