Is there a legal drug that gives you hallucinations?

I am into new age tarot cards all that and I am looking for a drug that is legal that gives you hallucinations like the shaman used to have to see isions. Is there such a thing?
----------

Salvia is what you're interested in. It's been used for centuries by the Shaman's in Mexico/Central & South America. It is legal in the U.S. Google Salvia, you can either take it as a tea or smoke it. It is 100% legal and from what I read, it can get pretty potent. Many people are upset about the fact that it is commercially sold because it is used for religious purposes to this day in the countries mentioned earlier.

Good luck, but be careful!!! By the way, the site the individual posted earlier is a great one. Erowid.com or whatever he said. It is a very interesting site.  (+ info)

When shizophrenic people have visual hallucinations, do they actually know they're hallucinating?

I find it absolutely intriguing that some people can have hallucinations and believe 100% that their hallucinations are real - that what they are seeing is a real part of reality, not visuals created by their own mind. What is the depth of these hallucinations? Can people actually see people as if they're flesh and blood real. What is it like?
----------

Yes it is totally 100% lifelike and real. They see them , feel them, talk to them, have friendships with them, are chased by them..... etc.... Hallucination are not just seeing people though it can be seeing or hearing or even smelling things that are not there. I know a woman who was "sucked into a whirling vortex....... and woke up in the hospital. To her every sensation, sound sight, inside that vortex was real. No they do not usually know they are hallucinating because it is so real...... Next time you are in a group of people try to imagine that two of those people are not real... that they are a hallucination. How would you know which two they were..... Would you believe it if someone told you that there were only 4 people in the room instead of the 6 you see, or try to imagine that a member of your family (lets say one of your parents) had really died years ago when you have been visiting with this person every week for years. Or as in "A Beautiful Mind", your roommate in college and life long friend never really existed............ No one can imagine what it is like to be mentally ill unless they have been there...........  (+ info)

Not getting any hallucinations from shrooms?

I had a 6-gram batch of shrooms an hour and a half ago and so far no hallucinations. I've had shrooms awhile before and it usually takes me 3-4 grams to start seeing things. I have a decent body high and I find everything hilarious, but no hallucinations. What gives?

If they're liberty caps, then those dont usually make me hallucinate.
The closed capped cabenzis are the ones that make me trip. It could also be that you didn't eat them on an empty stomach, if you've eaten today then the effects will be lowered. -peace  (+ info)

What's the proper term for someone is suffers from delusions and hallucinations but otherwise seems normal?

I remember hearing a term for this and can't remember it. It describes somebody who does suffer from delusions and hallucinations but otherwise can function and appears sane.
People who are pyschotic (like with active schizoprenia) don't appear sane and normal. That's not what I mean but thanks anyway :-)

What are all the things you know about hallucinations?

Hello, I'm just curious what all the causes of hallucinations are. Please just put the ones you know, and some detail about each would be nice. If you're not really sure, I would still be fine if you posted it, but notify me somehow in the answer thanks. I know I kinda ask a lot, but it's hard if someone just puts "drugs" or something.

With mental illness alot of people suffer from seeing hallucinations. What i have is bipolar II and i experience seeing things like spiders crawling on the walls or floors. ( majorly afraid of spiders) its really freaky and puts me into a panic attack. i sometimes see things at night and thats the time when most of the hallucinations happen.

When i used to smoke pot i would get hallucinations that people were out to get me or that i could fly or other weird things. When i tried coke i had alot of weird hallucinations like seeing dolphins in the sea or electrik eels in the ocean and thinking i could go swiming with the dolphins. Then i though someone amputated my arm.

So there are many types of hallucinations out there.  (+ info)

Did anyone have hallucinations after baby was born? Were you diagnosed with postpartum psychosis?

Please let me know what your hallucinations were, or your other side effects. If not you, then maybe a friend who shared their experience regarding postpartum psychosis with you. (Note, this is a step up from postpartum depression, and much, much more serious.) Thanks!
----------

If this is a question from a new mom who needs help, I'm happy to talk about my post-partum experiences (which did include a little bit of hallucinating.) If this is some kind of bogus "research"project, I'd prefer not to share.  (+ info)

Can the loss of a loved one cause visual hallucinations?

Can the loss of a loved one cause visual hallucinations especially if the person has already been diagnosed with clinical depression or bipolar disorder?
Is it more common with depression or with bipolar disorder?
----------

Yes, severe acute stress that comes from losing a loved one can sometimes cause visual hallucinations. After the death of one of my parents I began having intense visual and auditory hallucinations. I do not have schizophrenia, this was not the source of my hallucinations, it was a stress reaction.

That is not to say this is normal, though. This is a sign of extreme mental distress, and if you are having visual hallucinations you need to see a psychiatrist right away. I don't know that hallucinations are any more common in bipolar patients or those with unipolar depression. Hallucinations and delusions are a feature of bipolar mania, but not bipolar depression. Hallucinations are not a feature of depression unless it is a severe depressive disorder with psychotic features.

Regardless of what exactly is causing this, you need to be seen by a professional right away so they can help you. Someone under this amount of mental stress could easily hurt themselves without even knowing what they are doing.

Best of luck.  (+ info)

Can hallucinations be understood apart from reality?

Whenever I am having a hallucination IT IS RIGHT IN MY FACE, takes up all of my attention/consciousness, and it is the only thing that I am thinking about at the moment... instead of thinking about what I am looking at and what is going on ect. I become the hallucination... And I think I can tell apart hallucinations from reality.... Is it possible to be able to tell apart hallucinations from reality?
----------

Do you just have hallucinations regularly? They aren't drug induced?
Well, when I smoke Cannabis, I can hallucinate pretty badly, but I understand that it's not real. It scares the hell out of me (time going extremely slow, everything is moving), but in my head, I can reassure myself that none of it is really happening. So... I think it is possible to tell apart hallucinations from reality. I'm living proof.  (+ info)

Sonata gives me mild to moderate hallucinations but helps me sleep. Should I still take it?

I just scared that one day I'll wake up and I'll still have the hallucinations permantely.
----------

I would talk to your dr. about what is going on. When I took Ambien I was cleaning the house and cooking in my sleep. Stopped that ASAP. I would take a med break and talk to your dr.  (+ info)

Difference between hallucinations and your eyes playing tricks on you?

i've been seeing my cat & dog out of the corner of my eye, but as soon as i turn my head to look straight at them, they're not there. one time i saw an unknown cat out of the corner of my eye, looked like a shadow figure of a cat. i've also seen shadow figures. a few of the shadows were straight on though, and i saw the shadows no more than a few seconds..what's the dfference between hallucinations and your eyes playing tricks on you? thanks :)
----------

When your eyes play tricks on you, that is an optical "misfire" where your eye is sending false information to your brain because it is trying to interpret something it has picked up on - like a shadow or something moving briefly out of the corner of your eye - and make sense of it. Usually these are things you see briefly out of the corners of your eyes, and as soon as you try to focus on them they disappear.

Hallucinations, on the other hand, are complex and originate in the brain, not the eye. A hallucination is a figure completely fabricated by the brain, not something that the eye has seen and misread as looking like something else. When you look at a hallucination, it does not go away - it appears to be very real and very present, not something you see briefly out of the corner of your eye. A hallucination may also "interact" with the person if they are in a delusional state, where the person talks to the hallucination or interacts with it, and their hallucination talks/interacts back. This doesn't happen at all when your eyes are playing tricks on you.

It's not uncommon to think you're seeing something familiar around your house - a family member or pet, for example - out of the corner of your eye, because your brain is anticipating their presence. On the other hand, if you were seeing things that were random and out of place in your home (like strangers, or buffalo, or angels) that would be more concerning. If you feel that this is a problem, I would suggest you make an appointment with your doctor and describe it to them.

Hope that helps!  (+ info)
