How much do a doctor charge to remove a ganglion cyst?

I have a ganglion cyst well at least that what the doctor think it is. They have to put me a sleep because they have to someother stuff with the bone(wrist) that the ganglion cyst is near. How much could i be looking at? Do i have to pay for the general anesthesia?
It was like this since april and it is gettin bigger...and the blood flow isnt normal...i go for surgery in a week or so...How much is the doctor bill going to be?
----------

Yes you do have to pay for the OR the Anesthesia and any other costs that come with it. There are a lot of nerves and vessels in your wrist so it is a fairly complex proceedure. My wife had one and we looked at having it removed and asked my dad a surgeon about it and he told us yes it was major and that back in the old days they would smash them with a bible breakign them up and let the body absorb them.....he was joking around about smashing it for free and we figured well we would have to wait until we could afford for my wife to have a few weeks off from work and it went away on its own so never needed surgery but yes it will be pricey and there is really no way around it.  (+ info)

Can my ganglion cyst on my finger be the reason why my wrist feels numb?

I have a ganglion cyst on my middle finger on the inside and it has grown now to the size of a marble. From what i read this may be carpal thunnel syndrome. I have an appointment in 3 weeks with a hand specialist to have the cyst drained out. My right hand feel a little numb as well just not as much as the left. Would this help???? I have a 5 week old baby and i constantly have to pick him i am really scared!
----------

carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with the wrist joint not the finger , if you have it in the wrist it could cause the numbness your felling or it could just be a simple trapped nerve , the hand specialist will check it all out for you try not to worry , as your baby will pick up on your anxiety, hope you get it all sorted :)  (+ info)

How long does it take for a ganglion cyst to form?

I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist that i noticed right after i cracked my wrist. Can a ganglion cyst form instantly? Or does it take longer?
----------

These usually form gradually. One could have been present and now, with an injury, you are more aware of it's presence.  (+ info)

How long will ganglion cyst surgery keep me from work?

I need to have surgery to remove a ganglion cyst from my wrist and would like to know how long to expect to be off work, so I can plan for this. My work is light (mostly desk job) but involves extensive computer use. Surgery will be on my dominant hand. Thank you for your help.

After surgery, a splint is worn for wrist ganglions for 10 days.  (+ info)

What to do about a painful ganglion cyst?

I have a ganglion cyst currently on my ankle. I was wondering if anyone knew how to keep it from being so painful. This past weekend has been one of the worst weeks for it. It gets so painful where it is hard for me to stand, let alone walk on it!!! What can I do to keep this pain down?
----------

tj has absolutely NO idea what he is talking about;; you run the risk of involving your nerves in your foot...go get it checked by a doc...but DON'T go slamming anything onto anything...a cyst is NOT a blister, so it won't 'break'.....  (+ info)

What should I do about a ganglion cyst on my foot?

I have what the doctor says is a ganglion cyst on the top of my foot. It's been there a while now and it has gotten really painful. I'm a really active person and this thing has really slowed me down. It now covers over half of the top of my foot. I've had two rounds of cortisone shots and it hasn't helped at all. So here's my question...Should I have surgery? I am very prone to bacterial infections, so infection is a very big risk. Also, the doctor says that a lot of nerves will be cut. I literally LIVE for summer, but nothing is really enjoyable with this pain in my foot. Also, is it normal for this cyst to send "shooting" pains around my ankles and up the back of my leg? If I have surgery, how much "down" time should I expect?
----------

Surgery is the best thing to do. The Ganglion Cyst could be cancerous. Has your doctor checked for cancer. My brother-in-law lost his eye from a Ganglion Cyst. Since yours seems to be growing PLEASE see a cancer specialist and do what he/she tells you. I hope you the best. Rene  (+ info)

What is the price range to surgically remove a ganglion cyst if it's on my hand because medical experts said?

What is the price range to surgically remove a ganglion cyst if it's on my hand because medical experts said?
it's not recommended that you slam a book on top of it to make it go down. and also, could cyst be hereditary, and/or could they be contagious?
----------

Im not sure how much, when I find out i'll tell you my BF has a ganglion wrist...most likely due to guitar playing... hope i dont get that then lol!. But yeh slamming a book only causes it to rupture but it will reform again, no it is not contagious, Hmm yes it can at times be hereditary. I however also think it is more linked to what you do with your wrist that causes the tendon's sheath to inflame, the cyst is just fluid build up from the sheath. But yes can be hereditary, shouldnt worry too much. I'll try get back to you about the price later on today though for drainage/surgery. My bf who I mentioned has one, he works in a radiology clinic in a hospital so hes closely linked to knowing about costs and stuff there, might be able to find out.

I have a ganglion cyst and im getting it surgically removed will i have to wear a cast?

i know of other people who have had their ganglion cyst surgically removed and they had to wear a bulky dressing but a little after that they had to wear a cast?

i don't know, very confused.
----------

Removal of ganglion cysts do not usually require a cast. You will only need a bandage until it heals. I had one on the inside of my knee that was 3 inches long, 2 inches wide and 3/4 inches deep. Day surgery and I only took medication for 2 days.
Surgeons take x-rays to determine whether or not the cyst is attached to a tendon so that might be a factor in someone needing a cast. Ask your doctor if you still have questions. Surgery makes most people a little nervous.  (+ info)

Getting a ganglion cyst to go away naturally?

What is a way to get a small-medium ganglion cyst on my right wrist to go away naturally? Thanks.
I'd like surgery or aspiration to be my last resort.
----------

The best way is to just let it go away, I get them in the same spot, small ones though. They come and go as they please, they dont bother me so I dont stress it.  (+ info)

Ganglion Cysts (Bible Bump) problem...?

I've got what was assumed to be (after a short examination by a doctor) to be a ganglion cyst on the top of my right hand. It doesn't really hurt except when my hand is bent back at acute angles or when pressure is applied (such as leaning on a table). So, anyways, I was going to just let it go on and hope it went away, but today I fell on my wrist and my friend..fell..on..me and put a lot of pressure on my wrist and it hurt like hell (and continues to hurt minorly now). I've read that the old home remedy was to just bang it with a book (haha) and I'm wondering if this injury may have actually cured it or if i have just exasperated(sp) the problem...

Btw, you don't need to be a doctor, just your opinion(but if you are a doctor, say so ;-)
----------

I have Ganglion cysts on both of my wrists for years. They can go away just a suddenly as they appear. Getting someone to smack it really hard with a book does work, but who do you trust enough to smack you with a book? You can get them drained by a DR or you can get them removed, but either way, they are likely to come back. If it is not causing you much pain, just let it be and one day you will wake up and it is gone. I have named mine! They can be broken. Popped mine once playing volleyball... hurt like all hexx.  (+ info)
