Funnel Chest + Kinda tight shirts.. Good IDEA?

Has anybody had the injections called BIO-ALCAMID to correct this??

If so how was the experience, was it effective, has it lasted and what was the cost like?

Any good suggestions on surgeons would be useful as well.

Dr Frank (see above) is no more a G.P than I am! Back to the medical books boy because you obviously have no idea of the procedure the asker is talking about. It's an entirely cosmetic procedure that uses filler to pad out the dent in the chest to improve the appearance rather than do unnecessary surgery on the sternum. The only time surgery is necessary is if the dent is that deep it actually affects lung or heart function.

The other bogus 'doctor' below, who is probably one of 'Dr Frank's other accounts anyway, what you have said actually verifies rather than disproves my point. The asker wanted to know about the injection, not corrective surgery. Thanks for the validation!  (+ info)

You cannot hide it. It's an aspect that will follow you throughout life, perhaps caused by genetics, nutrition, something beyond knowing what the cause is.

Not knowing what you age is, I WOULD check your heart and its function, as this feature crowds your heart space, and can lead to arrythmias, or other functional problems in later life (mine started at age 42). Find a good cardiologist to run the battery of tests.

Another difficulty you may experience may be swallowing disorders (mushy foods getting stuck in the esophagus, and the like) due to deviations or restrictions of the esophagus. Find a good Gastroenterologist and have your esophagus checked out is you have these problems.

A lot of people with PE also have lousy physiques, poorly developed muscle tone, though they may be really strong underneath. A quirk that makes you different, but not neccessarily a 'weakling'.  (+ info)

from what i've seen, theres not much wrong with you. your chest seems a lil sunken but nothing serious. trust me....i know what i'm talking about. i 'used' to have pectus excavatum. i underwent the ravitch procedure about 2 and a half months ago. your chest still looks betterthan mine. be grateful.  (+ info)

How do you make a funnel cake if you dont have a funnel ?


I tried making a funnel cake a few days ago and I didnt have a funnel, had to make one out of paper but that didnt stable. When I tried making the funnel cakes the mix kept getting stuck in the hole becuase of the paper, So what can I do to make funnel cakes come out perfect like the ones at a carnival or knotts ? Also can I put the funnel cake mix in a blender and make it more smoother without chunks of flour ?

Hi there,

To make funnel cakes, I don't use a funnel--I constantly burn myself while trying to do that. Trying using an empty plastic ketchup bottle... fill it up with your batter, and squeeze in the hot oil. It doesn't have to be a ketchup bottle--you can try any sort of bottle that you can squeeze the batter through (a water bottle may even work, though I've never tried it)--I personally like ketchup bottles because the hole in the lid is wide enough that the mixture can go through it. You have a lot of control if you use this method.

As for your second question, I guess you can put it in a blender, though I never tried that. Have you tried sifting your flour?  (+ info)

How do I make doughnuts and funnel cakes?


I want to know the recipes for homemade glazed doughnuts and homemade funnel cakes, can anyone help me??????

Glazed Doughnuts

Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough, room temperature (recommend Pillsbury)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (you may sub lemon extract)
prepared vanilla frosting
Drippy Icing
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 drop yellow food coloring

Directions:


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Knead dough with flour, adding in 2 parts, and vanilla extract. Break into 2-inch pieces. Roll each piece into a 6 inch long rope. On an ungreased cookie sheet, shape rope like a doughnut, pinching ends together. Freeze for 10 minutes. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
3. Cookies should be just lightly golden on top.
4. Cool completely. Frost each cookie with vanilla frosting. Drizzle Drippy Icing over cookies.
5. Drippy Icing:.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk. Tint with 1 drop yellow food coloring. Add more powdered sugar for stiffer consistency, if desired. Drizzle over cookies. Enjoy!


Funnel Cakes

Ingredients:
3-4 cups all purpose flour
3 eggs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
powdered sugar (for topping)
vegetable oil (for deep frying - heat to 375 degrees)

Beat the eggs, then add the sugar and milk. Sift 2 cups of flour, the salt, and the baking powder and add to the milk, sugar, and egg mixture.

Mix while adding more flour until the batter is smooth and not too thick. The funnel should have an opening of at least 1/2 inch and be able to hold around a cup of batter. Put your finger over the bottom and add about a cup of batter. Remove your finger and allow the batter to pour into the center of the oil. Be careful, the oil may splash!

Gradually swirl the batter outward in a circular motion, or criss-cross back and forth to make a cake about 7 or 8 inches round.

We used to draw our initials to personalize our cakes! Check it with a pair of tongs and turn it when the bottom becomes golden brown.

When both sides are done, remove with tongs and let it drip on a paper towel.

Funnel cake is often served with powdered sugar on top. You could also use molasses, maple syrup, or fruit preserves.

Does anyone have a funnel cake recipe that will make a big batch for a fundraiser?


I am thinking of selling funnel cakes for a church fundraiser but need a recipe to be able to make a big batch, preferably one that I can mix the dry ingredients at home and mix in the wet ingredients on site. And if anyone has any helpful hints regarding running a funnel cake booth. Thanks.

Super easy... here's a website for a 50 lb sack of FUNNEL CAKE MIX that should make hundreds of the buggars. Depending on what's in the mix, you may not even have to add milk or eggs... ya might luck out and only add water! And of course oil for frying, powdered sugar for dusting, and the funnel batter pourer jug ;-)  (+ info)

This is one I used years ago at our local fair.
You can use pancake batter also...Just thin it down a little....

Funnel Cakes/4-H

(makes 5 large or 10 small)

Combine:
1 cup milk and 2 eggs in mixing bowl or food processor.

Sift:
2 cups flour
1 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. salt
1 Tablespoon sugar (optional)

Add to egg mixture and beat or process until smooth. [Test to see if
batter flows smoothly through a funnel or squeeze bottle with an opening
of apprx. 1/2 inch. Add flour or milk to thicken or thin batter.]

Heat and apprx. 3/4 cup vegetable oil in skillet to 375 degrees. Pour
batter through the funnel into the oil, making swirls or spirals from the
center, out. Batter will expand, don't fill the entire surface. Cook
about 30 seconds per side for small cakes and 2 minutes per side for
large cakes. Turn cakes with tongs when edges are brown. Remove with
tongs and drain on paper towel. DO NOT STACK. Serve warm with powdered
sugar, cinnamon, syrup, jam, jelly, ice cream, etc.  (+ info)
