How do I know when a cartilage piercing is healed?

I would like to know how tell when a cartilage piercing is done healing. I have tried to find out how long it takes and there is seems to be a wide variety of answers in the amount of time it takes, so I would just like know how to tell when mine is done - like what to look for. I have a conch piercing. Thank you.
It will usually take six months-ish to settle down. A good thing to look out for is when you stop getting crusties on it, but at 6 months it's still not healed all the way - I mean it could take a year before you can leave the jewellery out for a while over a few minutes.  (+ info)

Regular earring stud are eiterh 22G or 20G. Usually depending on the piercer a cartilage piercing can be a 20G-18G or 16G. I would suggest an 18G , an 18G piercing can fit a 20G or 22G earring also.  (+ info)

There is no significance. However, if you have a side part and more hair hanging over one ear than the other, choose the side with less hair over the ear.

How long after you pierce your cartilage can you pierce it again on the same ear? I want two on the same ear, and i'd like to know if i have to wait for the first one to fully heal before i pierce it again.
you don't have to wait but it is probably best if you do because then both will be very sore and you will be in more pain, but it won't be too bad. If you feel you can take the pain of another one on top of your first one (and you know what it feels like) then go ahead. It will look really cute and you'll say it's worth the pain within a few months!!

What hurts more a belly button piercing or a cartilage piercing?

I already have a belly button piercing, and I want a cartilage piercing but am unsure because of the pain level. Does a cartilage hurt more or less than a belly button piercing? Or maybe the same?
I've had my caritlage done 6 times all together and it didn't hurt any. It was just sore when I tried laying on that ear for a couple of days after. But I almost passed out when I got my belly button done. I was so nervous so I really don't remember if it hurt or not. All in all it will just depend on your pain level.  (+ info)

I just got my cartilage pierced yesterday, I was wondering after you put sea salt soak on it, do you wipe it off or let it air dry? Also, how long do I have to put the sea salt soak on for?
I've got 5 cartilage piercings. I clean them every day with tea tree oil or with iodine tincture, both of them are anti-septic. Tea tree oil prevent keloids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keloid). When I clean them, I usually tie back my hair, you may want to do the same :)  (+ info)

Last night, my friend pierced the cartilage on my left ear (everything was very sterilized). I clean it twice a day with a q-tip and an ear-cleaning solution from the store. But, out of curiosity, how long do I need to leave this stud in before I can switch them safely?

6 months to a year, it depends how fast your body heals.

I've had my cartilage pierced for about 2 months now and the longest time i've taken the earring out for is about 3-5 minutes.

I have a basketball game this Saturday and I have to take my earring out for about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half.

Will it be okay to do that?
I got my ear pierced in June. I took it out in August overnight. I had to push the earring in a bit in the morning, but I used an anti-bacterial cream to help ease it in.  (+ info)

Is it possible to persuade your cartilage to grow in a certain shape?

I'm a teenager and I have always wanted pointy ears. Seeing as I am still growing, would it be possible to manipulate my cartilage, say, by taping my ears so they stay in the shape I want them to, and stay that shape when the tape is taken off?

Nope, your ears are all done growing.
Might be possible if you taped a baby, for years. But its very very doubtful, and kinda cruel.

You can get ears pointed. But that involves some surgery, not many people do it, and there is no aenesthetic.

What are the risks of getting cartilage pierced a second time?

I had my cartilage done a few weeks ago, and it was fine until about 10 days after. Basically it got infected and I had to let it close up, which I'm doing right now. Obviously I really wanted it pierced, if I take better care of it the second time around are there any risks because I've had it done before? I want it on the same ear I got pierced before.
You need to wait a few months for it to completely heal. Actually a year would be best but i know you don't want to wait that long.
