Right side abdominal pain radiates to right flank no temp nausea or vomiting?

been having this pain for approx 3 weeks. i'm a 41 year old male with no past medical histories or surgeries. it first sarted on my left upper abdomin along my ribs, now its on my right side under my ribs with the pain radiating to my right flank described as a dull ache to a slight sharp pain. no nausea or vomiting. my bowel movements have not been normal, been just as frequent, stools have been soft. and i feel bloated after i eat. went to MD he gives me Nexium and did blood work, the blood work for my liver was 130!! it was 112 a year ago,,2 MD's don't seem worried. he says come in in 3 months to have it checked again. only meds i take is a baby aspirin once a day. a multi vtm, Nexium, and Milk Thistle
i never watched my diet,,,i eat anything and everything. i have had no weight loss or gain. not sure if this is a GI thing or a liver gallbladder issue,,,,,kinda worried (not used to being sick,,,lol)
i havent been having any urinary issues that i'm aware of,,urine is of normal color and frequency, no blood or anything. no blood in my stools either.

Flank pain... Real responses only please (prefer medical professionals)?

Hello
I wanted to ask some medical professionals out there a question. One of my best friends has been having pain in his back by his right and left flank. he is also complaining of dark color urine. What could this be? Could this be serious? Should I take him to an ER or a Doctor? please only real answers.... thanks
----------

If he is having flank pain and dark urine he could have a kidney infection. A kidney stone would cause pain and possibly a change in urine color, but it would probably be on only one side, although the pain could be so severe that it might be hard to pinpoint exactly.

Either way, if his pain is persistent it would be a good idea to take him to the er or to see a dr. soon, kidney infections can get serious, and kidney stones can go from very painful to intolerable pain very fast. It would be much better to have a visit that wasn't so necessary than to not go and end up with complications from untreated infection.  (+ info)

I have been have pain in my left back flank area for about 2 months.?

The pain seems to be getting worse. I am unable to bent over most of the time. It only hurts on the one side...what can it be?

You could have weak stomach and/or back muscles, and the pain is just concentrated there.

Or it could possibly be appendicitis--you may want to have a doctor check it out.  (+ info)

Occasional Flank pain?

About once a year I have severe flank pains that starts slow then progress with nausea, vomitting and dizzyness. It sends me to emregency room each time because of the dehydration that comes with vomitting. I had all sorts of tests to rule out kidney infections...They cannot find out what is wrong and then after morphine and antibiotics, they send me home. I had nuclear ultrasounds, cat scans, etc... unknown illness. Today, I am afraid I am going to end up in the hospital again. I feel this pain and it's been about a year. What can it be?

Is the pain sharp? Did they check for possible ureterolithiasis? You might have stones in your ureters. The pain comes and goes, and usually is felt in the flank area.  (+ info)

What is the cause of this pain on my right side?

I've been to the ER twice and through many tests in the past 6 months regarding sharp and now debilitating pain on my right side under my ribs and on my right flank area with no relief or answers. No gallstones have shown up, no kidney stones, nothing. I have also had terrible stomach issues during this time.

Has anyone else had this pain and what were you diagnosed with?
----------

you could have just gas..take some gas x and see what happens and very bad acid reflux  (+ info)

Terrible answer. Right flank most definitely tells exactly where the pain is. I would say kidney involvement.?

upper abdominal and flank pain?-neurofibromatosis?

I have been having upper right abdominal and right side flank pain since december. my ultrasound, liver blood work and upper endoscopy were normal. I have an abdominal/pelvic CT this week. My gi doc says i might have fatty liver or a spastic duct but has also theorised gallbladder and pancreas. I've had nausea but am taking prilosec to help that. .I had a baby 6 months ago.i haven't started my period yet because i am breastfeeding. i just recetly started having pain in my right side during sex. it was bad enough for us to stop.i know i'm not pregnant. my pain is usually dull and uncomfortable but occationally bad enough to double me over. my doc suggested i need to learn to live with the pain and do nothing but i'm worried because i have neurofibromatosis. It seems like he doesn't care or have a clue. He was hesitant to even order the CT. Anyone have any idea what this could be? i don't want to give up.
----------

My best guess is, it's the Neurofibromatosis. I have a large mass on my right upper part of my leg, it hurts like heck, comes and goes, can be a sharp pain, other times it feels like a pinch. I would suggest getting in contact with a neuro doctor, one that know what nf is. I have a nf doctor, for mine, I am able to get pain medication, which helps a little. Also here is a site, that maybe able to help you out.

Left Flank Pain?

I've been hainvg left flank pains. It starts where my lower ribs end and toward my back. It hurts to take a deep breath in and take a complete breath out. I'm like gasping for air because my side hurts so much. It hurts when I stretch my left side and it hurts to lean toward my left flank. It just started hurting one day while I was doing homework. And later, I notice that my breathing wasn't good either; I'm like talking half-breath in and half-breath out. The pain spreads to where my spleen is and where my left kidney is to the back. It hurts to touch where my spleen is and where my left kidney is. And my left lower ribs are sore. I don't know why and I haven't reached any trauma to neither of my left flank nor ribs. I don't know what I should do. I can't find any reasons to why I am having these pains and I can't fix my posture to neither sides because it hurts. Please no mean answers to this. Thanks for all your guys' help because they are much appreciated. Sarah ^_^
No I don't have trouble urinating.
----------

Your major concern is the difficulty you have breathing. This symptom could be a sign of respiratory illness such as pneumonia or infection. It is best to seek medical help and have x-rays of your chest and back.  (+ info)

High levels of protein and creatine in urine...flank pain?

My girlfriend's daughter recently had some testing done...with a 24 hr. urine...showing high levels of protein and creatine...she has pain during intercourse...pelvic and flank pain...the Doctor believes she could be going into kidney failure but without a cause as to why...does anyone have any idea what can cause all of this in a otherwise healthy 19 yr.old girl?
----------

This is just a thought. I would think maybe kidney stones would also do this.   (+ info)

IBS or other problem? Right flank pain.?

I was diagnosed with IBS in 1991 and always had pain on the left side. Recently I have begun having pain on the right side. I also have pain in my right flank when I sit in a chair (for the last few months) and turn to that side. I can only sit that way for a few minutes before it begins hurting. The flank seems to "knot up" and hurts for a few minutes after I get up. I have no trouble when I sit turned to the left side.

I don't know if it's related, but I thought it was worth mentioning......Lately I have been feeling "anxious" - kind of like panic attack symptoms and then a few minutes later I will pass gas or feel the need to have a bowel movment.

If you only have some smart alec remark to make, please don't answer this question. I am looking for someone with similar experience or maybe even a doc on here to answer. Thanks.
I should have mentioned too that I have been having some hypoglycemic symptoms as well as an increase in migraines for about the last 2 months. I don't know if all of these things are related, but I thought I should mention it all even if it makes me seem like a hypochondriac. :(

Right sided abdominal/flank pain can be caused by many things. Without doing a hands-on exam of you it's impossible to tell what's going on just from your reported symptoms.

There are several things that need to be ruled out. You need to be evaluated for problems involving...kidney, liver, gallbladder, appendix, ovaries, intestines...to name a few.

Unfortunately there are lots of things that can cause this type of pain and without further testing and a hands-on evaluation, there's no way to know what's at the root.

I suggest you get in to see your healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation. Depending on your age/history, you may need to have an internal exam as well (colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy).  (+ info)
