Will they take the pins/screws out of my rodded-femur?

I was in a head-on collision on August 14, 2009. The impact broke my femur into 6 pieces and I received surgery to rod my femur. A rod, not a plate. Im not sure whether or not I have 1 PIN or 1 SCREW at each end of the rod, but I know there are 2 altogether. Is there a chance that I will have to go into surgery again to remove the pins/screws? Or will they remain in my thigh forever?

yeah it stays in  (+ info)

Does any one know homeopathic doctor at INDIA, who has succesfully treated avascular necrosis of femoral head?

in case of positive reply please provide name/ contact details of that homeopath
----------

I am a Homeopath, Homeopathy treats the patient not the disease. You need to post the symptoms of the patient not the name of the disease if you want a Homeopathic Answer. Given the exact symptoms of the patient any qualified Homeopath can treat and cure just giving the name of the disease or disorder is not enough its just the tip of the proverbial Iceberg.

I hope this answers your query !

What if fetal head is too large for the rest of the fetal body?

I had an unltrasound at 22 weeks and my baby girl's measurements came out as follows:

Abdominal circumference (AC): 58th percentile
Femur length (FL): 59th percentile
Head diameter (BPD): 92nd percentile (!!!!!!!!)

The doctor did not give me a clear answer as to why the head is so disproportionally larger than the rest of the body, but said that most probably it is OK. I did not find this reassuring.
If you had a similar situation with your baby, can you share your experience? Did your baby turn out to be normal? Is there some disease or syndrome associated with enlarged head size? Should I get a second opinion?
----------

Sometimes that can mean water in the brain. A friend had a baby like that.  (+ info)

What kind of settlement should I expect in the case of my wife's car accident? Broken femur, ribs, and neck.

The other driver was in her lane and hit her head on. My two young daughters (3.5 and 17 months) were in the accident as well. Both were released. My wife, however, was flown to a trauma center for her injuries. She stayed there for nine days. The broken ribs caused her left lung to collapse. She had surgery to correct the femur. She may have surgery on her neck if the vertebrae slip. Looks like it will be a long recovery.
----------

Your wife sustained some serious injuries, and the medical expenses alone will be exuberant. I do not think that you should be expecting any settlement until your wife reaches a medical end result. Especially, since there is a question of potential neck surgery. For now, work on her recovery.

Hopefully, the person that was at fault for this accident has adequate liability coverage. In some states, you can request the policy limits and writing. The party must disclose them. Do you have Personal Injury Protection on your policy? If so, this coverage can help with the medicals. Also, I suggest that you file a potential underinsured claim against your own coverage just in case. There are time frames to do so in most states.  (+ info)

How long does a Dacron graft usually last? I had one put in on my aorta- femur in 03. Legs cramping and swells

I have nothing but trouble with my left leg since the surgery. when it was first done it felt as if the skin was being pulled off my leg every time I coughed. I have a twisting sensation in my stomach when I move sometimes then I have to straighten out and push something back into place? whatever it is it hurts real bad. Now my toes are turning purplish and my leg is cramping at night. swelling up all the time. Please dont say see your doctor I have been seeing them for three years and they keep patting me on my head like I'm crazy.Has anyone else had these problems? are they normal? Am I crazy?
----------

Dacron grafts typically last for years. However, they can clog up.
If your doctor has checked your circulation and it's relatively normal, then the graft is probably okay.

If your doctor can't tell you, then nobody here on Yahoo can do so. Your symptoms may not have any relation to the graft. You can always get a second opinion.  (+ info)

Any body know what is the treatment for displaced femur prosthesis.?

My mother aged 80 had prosthetic replacement for head of the femur bone. After a week the head came out of the socket and it is really painful now. Dr says the prosthetic head has to be cut. Can any body suggest opinion please
----------

i dont think it has to be cut. but usually when that happens they just try pop it back in place. she is old, and i wouldnt suggest putting her under anesthesia. the older you are the harder trouble you have during surgery and after. I've seen older folks die two three days later after surgery from complications from anesthesia.  (+ info)

after breaking my femur and not being on painkillers roughly 2 hours after the fracture, i no longer feel pain

can this actually happen or is this all just in my head? I did not feel pain to much before when playing with a broken collarbone in tackle football? Is it possible that the nerves just died espicially around my leg?
----------

Without examination it would be very difficult for someone to tell you over the net if the nerves died in your leg. However, given your past history in not feeling a broken collarbone, it's possible that you just have a higher than normal tolerance for pain. Sort of a blessing in disguise. That said, you should still contact your doctor with your concerns. Good luck!  (+ info)

How does skin necrosis from a spider bite takes place? Will it happen from the inside of the skin out?

About 4 or five days ago I noticed a large red pimple on my right thigh that frlt hot to the touch and it has been growing since. Have a little fever that always starts late in the afternoon through midnight. 2 days ago I went to the hosp but they didn't think much of it and prescribed a wide-spectrum antibiotic and Ibuprofen. Today, early evening, I has REALLY grown, very hot to the touch, still feverish, headache, rash on both legs and area closest to the center dot of inflammation is starting to turn very dark red specially under the skin. So, is this how skin necrosis starts, from the inside out? Answer appreciated.
----------

Necrosis is a depression rather than a bulge, it's an ulceration of underlying tissue, bites from a brown recluse are a common cause of necrosis. if it doesn't sink in and turn black i don't believe it can be called necrosis.Everthing else you mention is characteristic of a reluse bit except the pimple.  (+ info)

How long should a femur be in relation to your full height?

I heard that by measuring someones femur, you can closely approximate their height. What is the formula to that?
----------

Use a meter stick or measuring tape to determine the approximate length of this bone (in centimeters).

Multiple the length of the femur by 2.6.

Add 65 to this number to arrive at the approximate height in centimeters.

If you'd like to see these two numbers in inches, convert this metric measurement by dividing by 2.54.  (+ info)

How do I find out if my husband has avascular necrosis?

We live in Florida and we have no insurance, he was previously diagnosed by some uncaring big dollar fat cat doctor as having unitary sacrelitis of the hips (which does not exist) after researching I found a disease that matches many of his symptoms, He cannot get out of bed most mornings, he has great difficulty getting around most days, he is 24 and has to walk with a cane, Avascular necrosis is a disesae in wich the blood supply is lost to the bones and the bones eventually die, but how can I find out if this is his issue? Someone please help, if you know anyone with this disease or have any info, please relay any help over to me, thank you.
----------

Since you have no insurance, I would start at the closest county facility to save $. A plain xray of the hip might show radiographic findings suggestive of AVN; he will probably need further testing but that is a cheaper way to start. Also, if you go to a larger medical facility they will be able to get consultations with an orthopedic specialist easier. Since this is not technically an emergency, save yourself the hefty ER fee & try to get into an urgent care or clinic at the facility. Try not to put it off as the damage is cumulative.  (+ info)
