Why do I keep twitching like this?

A few months ago, I noticed that my leg would randomly twitch right before I fell asleep and it would wake me. It didn't happen every night, but frequently enough for me to realize what was going on.

Since, that has pretty much ceased, but seems to have been replaced with other twitches. The one that bugs me the most is the twitch in my middle finger on my right hand. It's really as if my finger is having a mini seizure and it's quite disturbing; not painful, but strange feeling.

My right thigh will also randomly twitch when I'm laying around watching TV or something. This isn't too disturbing. My right eye is disturbing, though. Frequently, it'll twitch non-stop and it drives me crazy.

There are other parts that have twitched as well, but only once or twice; not enough for me to take it into account.

What is causing this? I've noticed that from what I can remember, it's all the right side of my body. Is this something neurological? What would you suggest I do? I've read a little about Myoclonus and Benign Fasciculation Syndrome. I'm not sure that either of those quite fit what I'm feeling. Are there any others that it might be?

I sometimes get muscle spasms that are similar to your twitching. It usually is nothing at all, but if I am dehydrated, it is more prevalent. Seek medical advice from your doctor for a professional answer.  (+ info)

My muscles keep twitching!?

My muscles have been twitchhing scince i was 12 years old i think and i am 13 now. It doesnt really effect anything i do nor is it annoying. Im just curious about it. I asked my mom about it but she didnt think it was a a sign of some kind of disease. i hope its not. I did read about this thing on wikipedia call benign fasciculation syndrome or something like that but it doesnt really seem bad. Its not twiching like it would effect my whole arm or leg, its just like part of my skin or muscle and it would happen anywhere at completley random times. So why is this happening?!?!
Okay i know its normal for it to happen sometimes but this happens alot of times everyday! PS thanks for the answers so far i will try to eat that potassium and electrolytes and junk.

It's normal, happens to me from time to time as well. You may not be getting enough magnesium in your diet so try eating foods with high magnesium content like bananas, beans, potatoes, almonds.  (+ info)

potential Lyme's disease?

Around a year ago i got a small red dot on my arm over the next few days it spread outward and left a clearing in the middle like a ring it didn't hurt and wast itchy but got bigger until i was told by the doctor it wasa skin infection and sum cream seemed to clear it now i started to have twitching like when your eyelid jumps but its all over and happens not al the time but fairly often i can see it under the skin I belive this is called fasciculation ussually indicating nuron damage. I seem to be not as happy and outgoing as i was before. I heard Lyme's disease is an imitator and can cause nurological symtoms like this and I had the classic rash assosiated with it should i go to the doctor or will I be told I its in my head.
----------

You can always request a Lyme's disease blood test from your doctor. Eyelid twitching can also be a sign of eye strain and eye fatigue. Spending too much time reading, looking at a computer, doing close work can cause this. Taking frequent breaks and looking off in the distance can often stop this twitching. If it continues, you might want to see an eye doctor to get glasses or your prescription changed.  (+ info)

Have you done anything differently in the last few weeks? I would keep a written record of when it occurs, is it more noticeable at night (for example). You went to a neurologist? That's better than a physician, but if it concerns you that much, I would seek a second opinion! A good web site (I use it a lot for my school) is, WebMD.com.  (+ info)
