Which are the common eye diseases we should look out?

Are there any symptoms for them during our day to day visual activities? (instead of waiting for annual eye care examination which might be too late for good remedy)
----------

depends on which age group you are talking about...
commany eye diseases in the elderly would be cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy... so if you have been a hypertensive or diabetic for more than 5 years an annual eye check is highly recomended...
the symptoms are non specific and can range from blurring of vision to photophobia in cataract...an examination on the eye is required to diagnose they above mentioned conditions..
retinal detachments are more comman in youger age groups if they are high myopes the symptoms include flashes of light...  (+ info)

i just sprayed myself in the eye with deodorant, can i go blind or have any diseases of the eye form?

i didnt know where the opening was
so i sprayed it and it shot upwards

i was wearing glasses at the time but it may have gotten around the glasses

it didnt sting or water but my eye started to ache a few minutes afterwards, but other than that nothing has happened yet

so again, can i develope any diseases of the eye, or can my vision deterioate because of it.

or possibly partial blindness or blindness?
----------

Just wash your face and around your eyes properly. It wouldn't cause blindness just discomfort for a bit.
It may be helpful to put a few drops of artificial tears or lubricating drops in your eyes to alleviate the discomfort.  (+ info)

Can you get any eye diseases in jail?

hey i had retinablastoma (eye cancer usually in little kids (2yrs old around) ) and had my left eye taken out...ive been fine all my life except a little dizziness, i recently was taken to jail and noticed this spot that seems like a floater ever since ive been to jail. ive been to the eye doctor several times and they cant figure out what it is. they think its too much eye gel or whatever or ocular migraines (both i think is bullshit) well thank you
----------

Jail is like anywhere else. It's possible for contagious diseases to be passed anywhere there are a lot of people...schools, churches, malls, jails, parades, etc. I wouldn't think eye disease could be passed by merely being around a person though.

Floaters can be caused by many things. See a specialist for a better exam.  (+ info)

If I have a hereditary eye disease that causes far-sightedness can it improve with age and exercise at 16?

There is no such thing as a hereditary disease causing hyperopia. You will have to be more specific as to the exact terminology that has been applied to your vision. Amblyopia, squint, keratoconus etc etc  (+ info)

not like just the iris, i want to know if ANY part of the eye discolors
----------

There are hundreds of such diseases available. There is conjunctivitis that causes redness of the conjunctiva, theres diabetic retinopathy that causes white-yellow spots on the macula, also hypertensive retinopathy. Then there are various melanomas which are black-brown colored tumors of the eye.
Generally, most of the eye diseases cause some amount of change in color and texture of the affected tissue. Look up some good eye disease website for more details.  (+ info)

Can a stye in the eye, left untreated for months, lead to blindness or serious diseases?

A Style wouldn't last for months. Styes usually form on the eyelid and they are very painful, after a few days they usually open up and drain.

A Chelazion on the other hand, is a lump that forms under the eyelid. If this doesn't open up, can last for months and get to the point where it interferes with one's vision, but does not lead to blindness or serious diseases.

These are both usually treated at home with warm compresses until they open and drain. Stye Drops from the Drugstore is also helpful. It would also be helpful to clean the eye area including the lids and eyelashes with Baby Shampoo.

If either of these are recurring problems, then it's best to see an Ophthalmologist.  (+ info)
