What materials are safe to decorate fiberglass casts with?

I have a green cast on my arm/wrist, and I was wondering how I could safely decorate it? Materials I have available are the obvious sharpies (a bit boring), glitter glue (the sparkles aren't made of metal are they? X-rays would look like I had shrapnel in my arm...), and nail polish (too wet?). Any suggestions?

Heyy I put nail polish on my leg cast it looked really cool. And all of those sound good. Have fun!  (+ info)

What materials should I use to design your old shirts?

I got a pile of old shirts , I wanted to design them so i don't need to throw them.
But the problem is i don't know what materials i should use ?
----------

that sounds like fun, i would make patchwork designs with contrasting colors, use some thread and do some embroidery to increase how much you can sell them for-DETAIL and quality will render you the biggest profit and mabey some piping or ric-rac might be nice.....beads, sequins etc. and store your work in a scented drawer because certain scents may appeal to the customer  (+ info)

What are some everyday vegan materials?

I've been doing a lot of research about veganism lately because I've been interested in making the switch. I have been a vegetarian for quite some time now. I was reading about vegan materials such as leather, wool, goose down, which are obviously not vegan, and I wanted to find out which commonly used materials are vegan?
----------

cotton
hemp
flax
modal
rayon
polyester
nylon
pvc/vinyl
etc. etc.

It's best to stick with natural fibers over manufactured ones though. They're less harsh on the environment & your body (man-made fibers make you sweat more...they don't really let your body breathe healthily/properly). But, at least a cotton/poly. blend is better than something that's 100% polyester or a poly/nylon blend, etc.  (+ info)

How is lipstick materials combined and manufacture into its tube?

I need to know how lipstick is made so it is convenient to us and how the materials are combined to be hard.
----------

Lipstick is mainly composed of wax. Of course, in the process of making lipstick, the wax needs to be melted first. Then the company adds in whatever ingredients it wishes that particular lipstick to contain - such as a certain pigment, a certain scent, and ingredients and materials that can decide the certain finish the company wants on their lipstick (shiny, matte, glossy...etc). All these ingredients are melted and mixed together and then gets poured into a mold probably a tube like container. They are then left to cool down and harden - wax hardens when its cooled. A machine from the manufacturing factory probably puts the lipstick into the pretty container (tube). Hope this helps!  (+ info)

What materials and prescriptions "may take longer" than an hour at Lenscrafters?

Lenscrafters always claims they can give you glasses in "about an hour." Their disclaimer however, says "some prescriptions and materials may take longer." Which materials? How much longer? Say I have a progressive lens in polycarbonate with a Crizal Elize AR coating? When would I get my glasses?
----------

i dont think you can get crizal elize AR at lenscrafters at all. thats an essilor product...does LC even carry essilor? i dont think they do. i could be wrong tho.

i doubt a poly elize progressive would be done in 1 hr. my guess is they'd send it to their lab in mason, ohio...which would mean about a week to 10 days.  (+ info)

How can I safely pierce my friend's cartilage and what materials should I use to ensure it is sanitary?

We want to pierce each other's cartilage at home and we want to make sure we do it properly. I need suggestions on safe methods and what kind of materials I should find or buy for us to do this correctly. I've heard it's a bad idea to numb the area with ice because it will make it hard, so is there another way? Thanks!
**Also, we would get it professionally done, but we are underage and our parents won't consent to things like that. Thanks for the concern, though.
----------

It is such a bad idea to pierce your own cartilage. There are nerves in the part of your ear that if you pierce, can paralyze part of or all of your face. Get it professionally done. They know what they are doing.  (+ info)
